Resident ā€¢ 2018 - 2020

2/28/2020

Do not sign a lease at this apartment complex, or any Greystar community for that matter. My wife and I lived here from November 2018 thru January 2020. Management and the leasing office staff are terrible to work with and are often-times incredibly rude right from the start, if there is even anyone there. The complex is very dirty - there is litter and trash bags dotting the mid-rise daily. Crime is a constant with either packages being stolen from your door or straight up murder and attempted murder happening on site (google "75 West murder" and you'll see two in the past year). Regarding management, Ashley Cook, Asst. Manager, was the only person that was nice and polite that we interacted with. Eric Perez, Manager, is full of empty threats that he posts on the community's message board - mainly revolving trash complaints threatening to fine tenants daily for not abiding the trash policy, but our neighbors NEVER abided. You would think if you were getting charged $25/day for having your trash outside you would pick it up. Maintenance guys are very nice, but we had issues with them as well. During June-July 2019 our AC unit continually went out and then was "fixed", keeping our apartment around 80 degrees through that time. Once they finally figured out the unit was leaking coolant, they had to order the parts and provided us a mobile AC unit for a day. The unit was supposed to cycle the air and blow the hot air out of our bedroom window while blowing cool air into the apartment, however they did not open the windowpane when installing so we were getting a majority of hot air blowing into our already-hot apartment. Once I figured out what they had done and correctly installed the unit myself, the temperature had already got up to 92 degrees in the apartment. They never apologized for this gaff after I explained what happened or offered any kind of remedy. Also, if you are already living here, make sure to photograph everything in the apartment as proof of the condition you moved out. I made this mistake and am paying for it. The law states a landlord should not charge a tenant for normal wear on the residence (that is, wear or soiling that occurs without negligence, carelessness, accident, or abuse), however that is exactly what they stuck in my final billing statement. I called up on 4 different occasions requesting photo evidence of the charges I was being billed for and didn't receive anything until a month after moving out when Greystar's corporate office contacted me threatening interest and to send me to collections if I did not pay. When I was finally sent over the pictures, one was literally a baseboard with some dust on it. This complex is a joke. Save yourself the stress that my wife and I have had to deal with here and find a better community to live.
