Lack of Respect
There are things about this apartment complex you can choose to overlook and do your best to ignore and make it a home. A few things are the smell of marijuana coming through your vents, the lack of property updates, the constantly broken gates, or even the homeless people wandering around at all times of the day. The point of this review isn't to complain but rather to bring awareness to any new coming or even current residents for the lack of care 75 West has shown they have for its tenants. My storage unit was destroyed without me knowing. Upon discovery, I reached out to 75 West hoping for an explanation but instead was met with an excuse. They claim to have notified me via a community email (attached), but after thoroughly reading it for a second time, nowhere does it state anything about the vandalism of storage units. This letter was purely directed toward homes being broken into. Had it been said that storage units were also at risk, this would have alarmed me to check on my own. I still have a hard time understanding why I was not notified of any vandalism to my storage unit, yet actions were taken to put an additional plate on the lock. This tells me 75 West decided not to notify me of my items being ransacked and instead placed a bandaid on it by installing a plate that you can only open using a unique tool. I found this out the hard way. I went to move out of my storage unit this past weekend and was surprised that I couldn't even enter the unit I'd been paying for for almost a year--no notice in sight. I had to reach out to the emergency maintenance and unnecessarily ask them to open my unit on their day off because 75 West had failed to uphold their end of the contract. I was ultimately in shock when I went to move my items out as everything was torn apart, broken, and things had been stolen. After a short conversation with the maintenance worker, they notified me that 75 West knew of the break-ins and asked for their team to install these unique plates. They also stated they suggested the management inform the victims of this crime, yet there was no notification sent to me. I had to reach out to the office three times before management would even talk with me about the situation. This led me to believe they knew they were in the wrong and continued to avoid their responsibilities as a company. Once I finally received a callback, I was again met with more disappointment because, for a third time, I was asked to contact my renter's insurance, and they'll handle the items missing. Sadly this isn't why I wanted to have a conversation. I want to make something clear; although this entire situation is unfortunate, especially on my part, my intentions were never to have my items replaced. My Intentions were and still are to have someone explain to me why they think placing a plate on the door would somehow cover up the crimes that had been done. The manager repetitively said she only knew of one storage unit being vandalized, and she didn't see that as a good enough reason to notify any of the other storage unit owners. I understand I will never have a proper explanation for this, but I will not stand for horrible customer service as I have received from 75 West. So, take it from my experience and save yourself the trouble by not moving here or, at the very least, don't get a storage unit. Good luck!4/12/2023
