We saw the Manchester State Thomas Apartments online and decided to come in for a tour. We were initially interested in a 1 bedroom and hoping to stay under $2k. I called the office twice, leaving messages before calling a 3rd time and actually reaching someone. The person I spoke to on the phone said that It would be fine if we came in for a 12 pm tour. When we arrived, the man that I spoke to over the phone pushed us off to a newer guy. The newer leasing agent was very personable during the tour, however at this point we were feeling as though we were unwelcome, since the original guy did not seem to want to deal with us. As we toured, the new leasing agent showed us amenities and several different layouts. After the tour, we went back to the office to receive a quote for the brownstone and were super excited. However, we never received the quote, so I gave a call to the office only to find out that the unit has "just been leased". No one called to let us know or follow up, as were expecting the quote and hoping to lease today. Although, the office and grounds are very beautiful it almost seemed as though we brushed off and discriminated against due to us being people of color.
