Four Year Review - POOR

I have lived at Milano for 44 months; at end of this final lease it will have been 48 LONG MONTHS. I too was suckered into thinking this place was a bargain. I drove by it during my apt. searches because I thought I couldn’t afford it. My original lease was for 18 months at a very low rate. The next one was only $15 higher. This place has frustrated me the entire time, but I kept thinking it would get better and I didn’t want the hassle of moving. Now I cannot wait to get out and I am kicking myself for not leaving a couple years ago. Here is my review of MILANO APTS: <br> <br>Management: Changes every 9 to 12 months. This causes many inconsistencies in communication, rules, fees, maintenance requests etc. Community events are RARE here. The office does not stick to their posted hours. They often close early or take extended breaks in the day making it difficult to pick up packages left by USPS or UPS. On a few occasions the UPS man could not leave packages because the office was closed while he was here. Management will do all they can to get you IN an apartment, but once you’re here you are just a water bill, rent and an extra fee to them. Don’t tell them about noise problems, car break-ins or a gang of neighborhood kid’s loitering at the pool. They will tell you those are things that happen at every apartment complex and should be taken up with the police. <br> <br>Crime: I should have listened to the leasing agent when I first moved in. She told me to check my mail everyday because the mailboxes were not safe and had been broken into on many occasions. In the time I have lived here I have had my mail stolen TWICE. They took credit card statements and blank checks. It cost me a lot of time to correct my credit report and file reports with the postmaster. I have also had TWO cars broken into during this time. Neither car had anything valuable left inside. When I reported this to the office they didn’t care what apartment I was in, management just said “sorry,” that could happen anywhere. I just wanted to make them aware that it had happened here so maybe they could increase police drive-thru’s if others reported the same thing. <br> <br>Maintenance: If you want it done right, do it yourself. They are always quick when needed, but work done is not quality. If it is something small you will spend less time doing it yourself rather than filling out the work request each time you need something done. <br> <br>Gates/Grounds: Gates rarely work. Back gates chained shut forcing everyone to use front. This causes many impatient or ignorant soles hardship and pushes their aggressive nature onto others. Inside the gates/fence area is nothing but dog poop. No one picks up after his dog and even with many complaints (each) management has yet to address this issue. Sure makes for a wonderful smell when the lawn crew comes each week and spreads the mess around. <br> <br>Fitness Center: Don’t waste your time. Equipment not kept up and building constantly vandalized. <br> <br>Noise: Bottom floor bedrooms are noisy due to 5 a/c units placed next to window. The floors allow you to here every footstep, stereo/TV, washer/dryer, garbage disposal. I never hear the neighbors on either side, just the ones upstairs. <br> <br>Pool: Overcrowded with neighborhood kids, not tenants. Maybe if the pedestrian and drive-thru gates worked this would not be much of a problem. <br> <br>I do not recommend this place at any price. It only takes one piece of mail stolen or one car broken into to take away the savings. I have lived in a lot of other apt communities and have never had as many problems as I have here. Take your business elsewhere and make the owners clean this place up. <br>
