Good and Bad, depending on what your situation is

I lived here alone (female) for a little less than a year. The apartment itself was very nice inside, I had a "luxury" upstairs 1 bedroom / 1 bathroom apartment, with the nice wood floors in the kitchen & bathroom. It was appx. 800 sq feet, a nice size apartment for 1 bedroom. The "luxury" upgrades made it especially nice inside, and $565 wasn't a bad price. Also... the patio / balcony was HUGE! I never had any maintenance issues, everything was maintained nicely, and never had a problem with bugs. Now on to the not so nice things. I had a man peeping in my window, and when he saw me catch him looking, he started beating on my door. It was terrifying, and took the police 30 minutes to respond - an eternity when you think someone is coming in to get you. They didn't take it seriously - said the guy probably had the wrong apartment. YEAH RIGHT! I guess he just peeps in everyone's windows then? I got myself a gun after that incident, however, never had another problem. Another issue - the apartment residents seemed to be going downhill, lots of "thuggish" men would hang out around their cars in the parking lot at all times of the day and night, and made me feel uncomfortable as a single female walking from my car to my front door due to their leers. Another issue - the security gates at the entrance of the complex only worked about 1/3 of the time. Most of the time it was left open because of mechanical issues. On occasion, I got locked out because my key card would not work due to issues with the gate, and would have to wait for someone to come along and open it... A real pain in the butt and safety issue. Next issue - a fire destroyed nearly an entire building of the complex in January 2003 - and I had to move because of the smoke and fire damage to my apartment. It was really a blessing to have to move, because I did at times fear for my safety due to the questionable looking people that would hang around outside. Overall, this is an ok place as long as you're not a single female. The inside of my apartment was beautiful, especially with the mirror in the dining room and the wood floors. So, as I said, if you're single, I would recommend finding somewhere a bit more safe, but if you're in a pinch, just be careful and aware of your surroundings and keep your doors locked.
