Glad to be moving out

My husband and I have lived at AMLI for a little over 2 years. We chose this complex because it seemed like a good deal. The community looked nice and it was cheaper than the rest of the places in the area. Once we moved in, we realized the reason it was cheap. Even though the grounds are well maintained, the apartment interior is nothing special and shows its age. Most of the drawers in the kitchen and the bathroom stick, the cabinet doors squeak, and the linoleum is a little warped and starting to peel off in places. Safety has also been an issue. We come home to find a notice of a burglary or a mugging on our front door more often than we would like, especially lately. I am worried about break-ins when we are both at work all day. Another thing that has been very annoying and happening more often in the past few months is that almost every time it rains, even a little bit, our power goes out. Sometimes it is out for just a few minutes and sometimes much longer. One time it was out for four hours! I know this is probably not the fault of the complex or the leasing office, but still something to consider before moving in here. Of course, not everything about living here has been horrible, otherwise we would not have stayed for 2 years. Like I mentioned in the beginning, the complex itself is clean and well maintained, it looks very nice. The team at the leasing office has always been very nice and courteous to us, and maintenance issues have always been resolved the next day. Once someone actually called from the leasing office a few days after some repairs have been done in our kitchen to make sure everything was working properly. Also, we haven t had any problems with bugs. In fact, I m glad to report that I haven t seen a single cockroach in our apartment the two years we ve been here. The main reason we are moving out is that out lease is about to expire, and for the next year they raised our rent by a lot. This apartment is definitely not worth what they are asking for it now. After looking around, we found a bigger, nicer apartment for less than what our rent would be here.
