Renter Beware!!

Before you decide to move in to Brompton Court you should consider the consequences of moving out of this place. I lived at Brompton Court for almost a year and had no MAJOR complaints until now. It's a pity that the apartments are so nice, grounds well kept and quiet, but the management is deceitful and coniving and are out to get your money. They are a thriving business and they make thier money off of tenants who move out!! My husband and I recently purchased a home and did not close until 30 days before our lease was up. We payed our final rent payment and submitted a statement to the apartment manager stating that we would be moving out in 30 days upon completion of the terms of our lease. We paid rent every month ON TIME and fulfilled the term (12 months) of our lease. The apartment manager called be after receiving her last $1385 rent payment and our statement that we were moving out. She stated that we owed the apartments an ADDITIONAL MONTH OF RENT BEYOND OUR 12 MONTH LEASE!!!! That's almost $1400! FOR AN APARTMENT THAT WE PLAN TO VACATE THIS MONTH!! NO WAY IS THAT FAIR OR PRACTICAL! We dont't have $1400 to pay Brompton Court for an apartment we won't even be living in. I am in total shock and disbelief!! We fought to not have to pay this additional "rent" payment. The manager kept saying "Well you're suppose to give us 60 days notice that you're moving out and you only gave us 30 so you owe us an additional 30 additional days of rent! To make matters worse, the apartment has already been leased to someone else, so its not like they can't lease the darn thing. They just want to make money!!! Other issues with these apartments include: -Car Vandalism (My car got broken into within the first 6 months of living here. My IPOD nano got stolen) Other people's cars have been broken into as well, items stolen varied from a $30 vaccuum to a memory card for a digital camera to Cd's. Suspicious looking people always roam the parking garage at night so be careful. - Assault (Within 6 months of moving in a woman got assaulted in the parking garage. The management notified the residents of this after it happened and told everyone to be careful..go figure)There's no surveillance and the entrance gate is open most of the time. -FLODDING (Every time it rains the grounds get flooded. During Hurricane Ike my entire apartment got flooded. The water line was about 4 inches high. These apartments are old and very susceptible to mold. Mold covered the entire perimeter of my apartment after Hurricane Ike.) -Faulty A/c equipment (The A/C equipment in our apartment is very old and broke at least once per month -Management..see above
