From Bad to Worse

Moved out. Lease went up 30% to renew for 12 months(it went up about 5% every term on previous renewals)!!!! 30 percent with NO improvements made except to the leasing office; just dead plants, burned-out lights, broken fixtures, water leaks, etc over the last year!! Absolutely insane. They are starting a "valet" trash pick-up which means people leave their nasty trash in the halls, and they charge you $25 a month to pick it up whether you like it or not. Water and electric goes out ALL the time--winter, summer, fall, spring (I'm talking one or the other several times a month that I know of). The 4 hours events (lasting up to 12 hours) they email about now after lots of complaints (some are "scheduled" and some are not). The thing is water will also go out for a hour or so all the time during the day, you may be there to notice and may not; they hope not and don't tell you. Places used to be spotless for new move-ins, but I don't ever see them changing out carpets or anything anymore; they charge whoever moved out an extra fee if they have to clean the stove and wipe off the blinds. Forget about getting a deposit back. They promise "improvements" to everyone who moves in, from new stairwells to grills to security cameras, but I've yet to see one except they spiffed up the office. This is their reasoning for rent increases, but I can't even get a work order answered for the life of me (I call, email, go to the office where they glare and tell me "you know you can just email). The storm made the metal sheets they use for covered parking buckle in on car roofs!. It is $15 a month to reserve a spot btw, but my number has a reserved sticker on it (not done by me) and no one ever parks there---I think the office did it to make a shortage. Some guy knows this and likes to park in the middle of two reserved spaces (I've seen a tow truck once)! Daylight break-ins are rampant and they don't care. They tell you how few break-ins are reported but I know from experience it's because they refuse to tell anyone what happened when a door is kicked in and whatnot. You need to report it to police yourself (don't let them "help") or they will change "robbed at gunpoint" to "approached by two people asking for money". Yeah yeah this is Houston crime happens but I mean maintenance here literally can't change a light bulb; seriously half the lights are out.
