Okay, not great
I've lived at Brompton Court for over 2 years, and I have been more or less satisfied. The location is excellent, with a nice shopping center just up the street, and it's very close to the medical center. You're in a better part of town as well, so I've never felt unsafe. Pretty much the only crime here involves car break-ins (which is pretty much everywhere in Houston), although there is sporadically a case of a robbery or home invasion. My experience with the staff here has been very positive as well. The on-site food store, which finally reopened after Ike, really spoils you when you need to grab something you forgot at the grocery store. The place has its share of problems, though. The apartments are on the older side, and it shows. The maintenance people always respond quickly when there's a problem, though, which is good because the A/C tends to break occasionally. The complex has had some electrical issues, so there have been a few times while I was here (other than when Ike hit) where our building mysteriously lost electricity. My apartment is one of the few that face Brompton Street, which is convenient for getting in and out, but this street has a lot more traffic than you'd think it would, so the mornings can get noisy for a light sleeper. The biggest complaint I have is the lack of any soundproofing. The walls are incredibly thin, so you can hear pretty much everything your neighbors do. So if like me you have the misfortune of getting a neighbor that enjoys listening to music at 1:00am every morning, then you're pretty much screwed. And the old floorboards tend to creak a lot when upstairs neighbors are home, and that can get really annoying. This isn't a bad place to live, especially for the price. But if you like things quiet, this might not be the place for you.Share This Review
