Adequate for the price you pay.

I lived here for almost 3 years. I thought if I live somewhere in Medical Center nicer area it would be safe. Yes, it was a cheap rent and convenient living inside the loop near shops complexes and hospitals. However, in the first 3 months, I got my car break-into in the garage parking. I think that day many cars got break into ( I am not sure) so they installed more lights in the walkway and parking garages. After one year, my car get a second break-in. And right 2 months before I moved out my car got stolen from my reserved parking spot in the parking garage. I let the management know as soon as possible however the staff will not let the neighborhood know because the police already found my car and it's not like it's gone forever. I actually like living here during the day, the staff were helpful and nice, the landscaping is beautiful but not so much at nights. I checked my mail, pay rent, and do laundry (on-site facilities) as quickly as possible and I tried to do all not after 9pm because I did not feel safe at all. The rent is the cheapest in the area and during the three years the price hike is very decent. Yes the gate is sometimes broke and the water pipes and electricity too but I think its expected from living in an aging apartment buildings complexes. I lived here during Ike came and I have a small patio with cracked cement aftermath because a big tree fell down. The management are saying to be patient and it will take a long time to fix all Ike damages. I tried to ask them to fixed the cement flooring because time to time there are mice voices from the cracked cement however till I moved out it was still there. They promised to fix it however it's just taking longer time I guess. In the last summer, my ac broke and it happens on the same time where we would get electricity break-outs. The management said at first it was because the on/off electricity and then I would have to endure it because everyone is also experiencing it. When the electricity was back on, i still need to report the broken A/C again. The maintenance came the next day however he had to come back again the next day to fix it (longer time to fix). The total period I lived without ac was for almost 4/5 days of summer. In the first year I had some cockroaches and roaches problem at my apt and it's still coming back after pest control came so I had to take measure myself (try home defense spray, it works!!). In the last months I had to deal with centipedes. I called the pest control but what they did is only made me finding 20 - 25 dead centipedes everyday. What I am trying to say is that you get what you paid for. My friend lives a block away in newer apts however there are less crime and break-ins. I would recommend the apartment for people with medical conditions that need place to live nearby the hospitals for a short period of time and for medical students who need to save money.
