Resident ā€¢ 2011

not worth leasing here...PLEASE READ

I moved into the complex in January 2011. From the first day I moved in, I already had problems. The people in the office and I had scheduled my date of move in prior, and I had numerously emailed them several times confirming my move-in date and with questions I had. They were very aware of my move-in date. However, on my move-in date I arrived at the complex with my uhaul and family who took the day off work to help me move in. Our first stop was the leasing office to get the keys so we could unload...and come to find out THE OFFICE WAS CLOSED! I was pissed because we had already established a date. After numerous phone calls a maintenance person called one of the leasing agents (ironically the agent who I had been emailing and who we had signed the rental agreement with) and she opened up the office and got our keys...she said she had simply forgot to tell me that the office was going to close that day. It wasn't even a holiday. Also, my fiance's car was stolen from the parking garage about a month ago. when I called the office to let them know (in case they wanted to inform their residents, but they don't), the leasing agent said "we are not liable for the cars or any damage to them on our property". She said that they have a security guard, and I asked how many, and she said one. ONE SECURITY GUARD for an apartment complex large enough to have its own convenience store operating inside! And there are no cameras in the parking garage and the security guard is not available 24 hrs. Also, one major issue that will affect everyone who will live in this complex is the frequent electric and water outages. I have lived here since January and at least twice a month there is either an electricity or water outage. The office will blame it on the city fixing the electricity lines or water, but it's really because the apartment complex is so old that they always have these problems. It is really inconvenient because the outages do last all day, especially if you have children. I really encourage anyone who is interested in living at brompton to ask a resident how they enjoy living here and ask about the outages. It happens so frequently that it has become one of the major downfalls of this place. Like i mentioned before, the complex is old. The hallways are dark and remind me of an old dormitory. The people in the leasing office act so clueless when you ask them why the water or electricity is off. They are not helpful at all. One time I came to the office to pick up a package and one of the leasing office guys just ignored all the people waiting...true, he was with a potential renter, but he could have at least acknowledged people coming in. One lady who had been waiting was actually interested in living here, but then she got frustrated because she felt she was being ignored. She actually asked some of us waiting how we liked living at the complex and many of us said we wouldn't renew and the electricity is always out. The lady then said that she could tell the leasing people did not care about their residents, since she was being ignored and she wasn't even a resident yet. If you move in, beware---they just want your money. Also they never answer their phones. You will literally be left in the dark if you move here---so don't. Ask the residents who are actually living in the complex how it really is.
