The complex is not worth $929 in rent for a one bedroom. That's $879 for the apartment $25 trash fee $20 in pet rent for two pets.
Safety is a serious issue--since I lived there, there have been numerous car break-ins, apartment break-ins, and a woman was raped during the day (morning). There is no security: when there is crime at the complex, there is no notification of the crime, so unless you know the people who were victimized, you'd have no idea of the issues there. Also, some lights around the complex are not working, and there no cameras, even though they were promised after sexual assault occured. A gate surrounds the complex, but it is not monitored, and many cars and people will enter the gate by waiting for it be opened.
Bugs are an issue. Since living there, I've had three summers of roaches crawling through the plumbing and invading my apartment through the bathroom and kitchen sink. I could not buy enough roach traps and bait to take care of them all.
Water maintenance is also an issue. During the summer, the pipes break under the surface of the pavement in the apartment complex, leading to massive leaks in the parking lot and constant repairs during the summer to fix them. Those breaks and repairs lead to a lot of brown water and showers without hot water. Electricity also occasionally goes out during the summer.
Last, while maintenance is usually efficient and on time, anything related to money or fees is awful. Be sure to get signed copies of your rent check to prove that you paid your rent on time. Be sure to get things in writing and have everything you pay copied and signed by someone in the office for proof.
Live across the street at Berkshires, or just up the road at Camden Vanderbuilt. Or better yet, try Archstone Toscano, which is just being built. Brompton Courts used to be a great complex, but, in the end, I was relieved to move out.
