Nice place for the money

I lived here for two years, and when it's all said and done, this was not a bad place to live. Of course there are problems with management and rude employees, but I do have to say that they are very good at passing out notices for crime watches and water interruptions (which occur WAY TOO OFTEN!!) The property is QUIET and SAFE which are very important to me, being a single female that works nights. I have never had a problem with my neighbors, everyone is friendly, maintenance responds to problems fairly quickly. There are LOTS of spiders on the grounds, but they are small and harmless. Better than roaches, IMO. The landscape is maintained well, and the property is very well kept for being as old as it is. Mostly you will find students, med center employees, and MD Anderson patients from out of town living here, which is great in my book. There are not a lot of families or kids running around (though there are a few). My 1 bedroom apartment was quite spacious and I had very little issue with it, other than the AC which tended to putz out in the middle of winter, several times (the units are quite old). The electric bill is exhorbitant, but as another reviewer stated that might be my fault for using Reliant. The exercise room is decent, the laundry rooms are always clean and locked. The gate is card-operated, they just installed it in early 2005. I have never seen it stuck open or broken in all this time. Since they installed the new gate, there have been NO crime alerts posted on my door, about vandalism or break-ins. <br><br>I wish I could stay here, as the reviews I've read and stories I've heard of other apartment complexes really scare me! But I need to move outside of the med center, and also cannot afford to pay the price hike they institute when you renew your lease. Also, beware that you must give 60 days notice before moving out! They did not tell me, did not call me, did not mail or post any notice, so I was tricked/forced into staying another year and pay the rent increase without being able to investigate other options! As I said before, the office staff is kind of shady and unhelpful, but otherwise my experience here has been pleasant!
