Overall, the appearance of Ventana has been very nice.  And the noise level has been kept to a minimum. The services have been   sufficient.  Requests for services have been timely.  The one major problem I had was with the situation with the hot water heater   several years back.  I made several requests to turn up the heat for my water.  Responses were given, but the same problem came   back (not enough hot water.)  One time the heating panel on the hot water heater got burned out, and I could have had a fire, but   the smoke alarms never went off.  The hot water heater did get replaced, and I have had good hot water since. However, had the   maintenance workers not been in the process of replacing apartment sinks at the time, I might have had to wait a longer time for a   new heater.

Overall I am happy with the decision to live at Ventana Apartments and I would recommend it. If you are trying to find a place in San Antonio that has everything you want for a low price you won&#39;t find it. The price is right for the square footage and amenities - you&#39;re not likely to have any buyers remorse. My neighbors are all courteous apartment neighbors&#44; which is great since the walls are on the thin side. Maintenance and office staff have been quick and proactive to respond to issues that popped up. The neighborhood is convenient to I-10 and as a bonus you can walk to the theater&#44; dinner out&#44; salon&#44; coffee or ice cream shop.

I have lived in 3 apartments in this complex in the last 5.5 years.  While is may not have the new stainless steel appliances&#44; granite counter tops and fancy flooring they make a lot of effort to keep the complex and apartments in great condition.  This gated community has a lot of mature trees (which was really important to me)&#44; beautiful pool/club house and overall welcoming vibe. 
 
I have seen a number of different people in the office over the years and the majority of them have been friendly and ready to help with anything I have ever needed.  Props to Kelly&#44; in particular&#44; who has helped me with my last 2 apartments.  Apartment manager Dawn (who someone unnecessarily described as &#34;cold&#34;) is professional and understanding but she is here to run a business and do what it takes to make this place what it is and I appreciate her for that.  

The maintenance guys are great!!  Rudy&#44; Dana&#44; Devon&#44; Robert? (I&#39;m sorry I still can&#39;t remember his name after all these years)&#44; and the nice old man who picks up the trash every morning and delivers messages from the office have been here since I moved in and always make a point to waive or say hi when they see you.  I have had to ask for the craziest stuff over the years and they always show up happy to help. 

Only downsides to this place:  a little pricey depending on what you are looking for.  I always found it to be appropriate for what I wanted and how I wanted to live.  There are some break-ins (apartment and vehicle) but it has been a handful during my time here.  It&#39;s a nice complex and it will attract those who look to take what others have.  Lately I have seen a security truck patrolling the neighborhood.  They do shut off they water quite a bit&#44; usually after most people have gone to work but I don&#39;t work normal times so it&#39;s usually a hassle for me.

With all that said if I wasn&#39;t relocating I would still be here&#44; probably looking at apartment number 4 just to switch things up.  It&#39;s a great complex and community and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.


I have lived at Ventana apartments for almost 3 yrs and will not be renewing my lease with them. I have lived in two very nice apartments and never had an issue with ventana; as a matter of fact I have recommended and have had people move in to the complex on my recommendation. However&#44; I will never recommend Ventana to anyone but my enemies from now on. I told my new wife that we should move in to a larger apartment together here at ventana because the maintenance is great&#44; the grounds are quiet&#44; and the staff is outstanding and will go out of their way to help you. The have proved me wrong on every account&#44; I sit and write this as I have an overflowing toilet in the other room and have been waiting for maintenance to show up for the last hour. As we moved in their were several things wrong with the apartment and they were listed in detail on the walk through form; the repairs have been hit and miss&#44; we also had to wait for over a month to get mail box keys after we were repeatedly told that they would drop them off for us. When we had a administrative issue to take care of with our lease we had taken care of our end and had informed the staff that it was time to take care of their part of the transaction. We expected it to be handled in accordance with the high standards that ventana had previously had; when we finally called back to make sure that it had been taken care of they informed us that they had forgotten to do it and now there would be a 4o dollar charge to handle it because 30 days had passed. When we explained to them that it wasn&#39;t our fault they told us that we should have called back sooner to make sure that they did their job properly. We had an ant problem and asked them to take care of it and when they had attempted to take care of it (and failed) they were so care less with the poison that it had tracked through the apartment and got into the carpet which we didn&#39;t realize until my 8 month old daughter&#39;s hand were covered in ant poison. Go somewhere else to live this place sucks. P.S. I have attached a picture of what we had to wait for maintenance to fix and they took their sweet time.

Ventana has let me down and made me look bad in the eyes of my new wife.

Ventana features an insultingly small selection of parking spaces for the most discerning of parkers. If you have a job that requires you to work past 5:00pm, you will be treated to a long walk to your home from the opposite side of the complex. Worried that some of your neighbors may move out and cause parking spot openings, ruining your daily walking commute? Have no fear, your first-floor college-aged neighbors will have their live-in boyfriends over every day to fill those spots right back up. No separate visitor parking ensures that your daily walk will become an institution. 2. Have you been sleeping too much? Forget about sleep. At Ventana, everything has been done to ensure your sleep is a thing of the past. Neighbors? We&apos;ve asked them not to train their dogs so that you can count on constant barking. Fetty Wap at 1:00AM? Count on it. Screaming? Of course. When your neighbors aren&apos;t disrupting your nighttime bliss, they will be doing their professional utmost of revving their car engines and blasting stereos as they go about their daily business. If all else fails, we will install a family of ceiling creatures above your bedroom that will scratch at odd hours. We are incredibly proud of our Ventana ceiling animals; they are the most reliable and diligent members of our staff and respond to communication requests about as well as our human team. Your new apartment also backs up to Stonehouse Apartments, a section-8 complex with neighbors even less considerate of your peace and quiet whose apparent full-time job making your life worse. The culture here can be described via a thought experiment: Imagine if Bud Light and Tecate had a love-childâ€¦and that lovechild peeled out in a beat-up Mustang. Welcome to Ventana. 3. Most apartments are so devoid of plant life. At Ventana, the liberty has been taken to ensure your living space will be its own microbiome. Water channels installed in the rooftops (some call these leaks, here they are features) provide a steady stream of moisture into your drywall. It may even open a sun-roof in your patio (read: your patio roof will collapse on your patio furniture which will warp as water falls atop it). This will make certain that an ongoing issue of mold and water damage will challenge your lungs and sinuses. You will be stronger for it. 4. Looking to make monetary donations to CPS? Good news! Your 30-year-old AC unit will likely experience a series of death throes, resulting in two consecutive months of $250+ electricity bills despite all your appliances being unplugged and air conditioning off throughout the day. Bonus: you will have a mental crisis as you try to convince maintenance that something is wrong. &quot;Oh, your AC is set to 50 and it&apos;s blowing out 86-degree air (checked with laser therm)? Maybe you should close your blinds, that should help.&quot; (No joke on this one, this actually happened and then the maintenance people made smartass remarks until our AC finally broke and they figured out that closing blinds can&apos;t cause a 270% increase in electricity bills). 5. Have you been feeling guilty about using too much water? Feeling too clean? Want to finally practice trickle-down showernomics (this is where you just wash your hair as quickly as possible and hope the drip down shampoo will clean your pathetic shivering body)? Ventana will shut off the water on a bi-monthly basis with no warning. Play shower/toilet roulette as unqualified maintenance attempts to fix a near decade-long plumbing issue that normally would require professional intervention. This is but a sampling of the flavorful and luxurious experience you will have when you become a Ventana VIP.

I have lived here for over a year and I would truly never recommend anyone to this place. The first year was fine with minimal issues. But the truth of the matter is that these buildings are old as dirt but Ventana rents them out as if they were brand new because they are &quot;refurbished.&quot; The pictures you see below are my lovely apartment ceiling. For $1,039 a month you can have a ceiling that has not one, but two leaks! A steal for sure. You can also go down to the front desk, email them these exact pictures, and receive no calls, emails or anything about the status of when this will be fixed. I understand the girls at the front desk are basically just messengers who won&apos;t check an email unless I walk down there and ask. They don&apos;t give out a way to contact the person in charge which I get but SOMEONE needs to contact me and tell me what&apos;s going on and when this is planning to be fixed. So far I&apos;ve been told that the contractors can&apos;t fix the ceiling anyway until the roof is dry. As of right now, it is a beautiful sunny day and the roof has not seen a drop of rain all day. I think the roof is completely dry. I also did not appreciate the old guy in the office saying that the leak is fine and he&apos;s been in the construction industry for 40 years. Sir, I truly do not care, my ceiling is leaking. Unless you want to fix it with all your experience, I don&apos;t need your opinion. The girl at the front desk is clearly tired of hearing from me since this started but its going to continue until she gets her manager (who I&apos;m not allowed to contact) to speak with me. Tell management that no one wants a monthly party in the front office, we want the apartments to stop falling apart, the dog issues to be fixed, and the hallways to be clean. If you are looking for an apartment in this area I would recommend the nice brand new place next door called &quot;The Mark&quot;. It&apos;s not much more, its brand new and I&apos;ll be moving there when my lease is up. I have no way to contact management other than in reviews so I look forward to hearing from management shortly after I post this.
