Management is a night mare
I have wanted to write this review since the day I got stuck here. I think all the good rating/review of this apartment is done be the management staff in lieu of X-mass bonus and the bad ratings are all true. My apartment in itself is good, well-lit, spacious, comfortable, and all that I wanted and that s why I moved in here but the moment I step out of my door it s a different world. Going to the front desk is quite a nightmare for me and through the notice letters they send us they double check and make sure that life is not happy for anyone living here. If you think you are not going to be dealing with the mngmt staff much or you can tolerate them once in a while may be then you can compromise with this place. P.S: Not that this place is cheap. and also....I know my neighbor takes a shower everyday evening at 5 or 5:30; for some reason when his shower is on it makes a weird water pressure noise in my dining area, yes it is embarrassing to have guests at home around that time.

Nazis Run This Place
I lived here one year. Bit my tongue on so many ridiculous rules. Management obviously doesn't care about the bottom line or its customers. Place is run down, dirty, and there's a bureaucratic mandate for every little thing you need. Straw that broke the camel's back is on my way out. Worked late tonight (good riddance). After filling out elevator reservation (a freight elevator that stunk and was the primary lift for 90% of my comings or goings - plus stopped at the lobby during EVERY trip up from the garage, with a 30 second wait - regardless if someone is at the lobby waiting) in triplicate like a good communist, and only available on the weekends, with a list of "rules" as long as your arm, I planned to move out 1st thing Sat morning. Being so late, I am unable, after 15 minutes driving around the area, to find a parking spot for my vehicle and a small U-Haul trailer. I parked in a NEVER used area of the parking lot (another horror story) - no problem. Being a good communist, I alerted the night desk clerk that Iā¦Ā See More>anonymous

It's a nice place
I've lived there for about three years now. We love the new building manager, who is very attentive to needs. Besides one issue with a new maintenance guy not fixing something properly a few months ago, we have enjoyed living there.

Nice apartments
I have been living in 2200 for 6 months now. I really love it. Before I moved in, management gave me new carpet, paint, and an upgraded kitchen and bathrooms . Building is very quiet. The office staff is very helpful and nice. I would recommend these apartments.

ridiculously rude experience
if you ever go in to see the apartment and are "greeted" by an overweight woman with a homemade heart-shaped tattoo on her forearm, RUN. i watched her abuse a tenant who was dropping off her rent check and turn around and continue to answer my questions with questions. we got in an argument over how rude she was being and she yelled at me as i was walking out. 10 minutes of my life wasted for nothing.

Stay Away :-(
Keep looking....the posts that refer to the mgmt as a nightmare are TRUE!!! Maria Cedrini is the worst property manager EVER!!! The mgmt are unresponsive to tenants, uncaring, rude, argumentative, and unbelievable......stay away unless you want headaches. Every interaction we have with the mgmt shows how little they care about the tenants. The bldg is old and lack luster-looking. The maintenance is 'bare bones'. The area around it (Columbia Pike) is also nothing to write home about. The revitalization project planned for last year is stalled & basically this area will NEVER be a 'Shirlington-type' area b/c Columbia Pike is a major commuter artery to/from the Pentagon.....way too much traffic, going way too fast. Plus, @5 blocks west along the street is VERY low-income housing.....no 'trendy shops' here.....nor will there be. Don't believe the hype about Columbia Pike area becoming another Clarendon. Finally, no pets allowed....nada. Save your $$ & emotional pain---STAY AWAY from this one. The only people who seem to live here are retirees and people who are new to the area & didn't know better.

Avoid 2121 Columbia Pike
We lived at 2121 Columbia pike from 2003-2005. Despite the noise from the street, it was a good bulding until we moved out in 2005. Previous posts about the management are true. Mariarita Cedrini is not a nice person and a liar. She kept our deposit, indicating that we had dirtied the carpets. The carpets were not new when we moved in and we rented a carpet cleaner from Giant to clean the rugs before leaving. It did not matter. Cedrini was going to keep our money. We paid our rent on time, were firendly and did not make a lot of noise, but in the end we were treated poorly - for no reason. I would not recommend living here until the management changes. Renter beware here. When moving out, get a lawyer first so you don't get screwed.

GREATE APARTMENT
I moved in a couple of months ago and have really enjoyed living here. All utilities are included, you have to get cable and internet on your own. My appliances are all pretty and new and work well. I havent had a problem with parking .The building is kept clean and mangagement has been really friendly. I havent had any problem with maintenance people, they are very fast when you have a problem. I havent had to deal with any noisy neighbors which has been a nice surprise. There is plenty of shopping within a mile of the building and there are metro bus stops in front of the bilding. In one word i am so happy to live in 2200.
Worst Place to ever live in
While the location may be decent, the Management was horrible enough to make the experience MISERABLE. Marita Cedreni is by far the MOST hateful person on the face of this earth... She lies and is very very deceitful towards all of her tenants. DO NO RENT HERE...You'd be making a HUGE mistake if you do. My car was broken into and robbed in broad DAYLIGHT in the garage and the front desk acted as if there was NOTHING they could do about it, nor did they contact me once a fellow neighbor informed them of the incident. RIDICULOUS.

THANK GOD We are moving out!
Today, thank goodness, is the day I am moved out and rid of 2200 Columbia Pike. But to be fair, I will list the many bad things, plus a couple good things about this place:

BAD THINGS (listed from worst to bearable)

1). MariaRita: Watch out for this witch. When we moved in, we were told we had a "Rent Special", meaning that we would get 1 month free rent. When they issued us an invoice for the first month, we said, "What about the one month free?" Mariarita said "No, no the one month free is the LAST month of the lease." So April rolls around, the last month on the lease, and guess what? We receive an invoice. We said that this was our free month, and they said "What rent special?". We had to scream and yell and swear at the top of our lungs to get that damn one month free.

Not to mention that when we had originally moved in, Mariarita made us pay 6 months of rent IN ADVANCE because we were coming from out of state. Plus, she wouldn't allow cosigners that weren't from VA.ā¦Ā See More>anonymous

HORRIBLE. DO NOT LIVE HERE. UNLESS YOU WANT TO TRADE PLACES WITH ME...
Absolutely terrible. Have lived there for almost two years. If i had the ability to move right now i would. The people at the front desk still do not recoginize me despite going through the door at least twice a day for the past two years. If someone in front of me goes in first and i didn't use my key they yell that i must use the key to get in.

TOTAL DISREGARD FOR PRIVACY
they go in and out of your apartment at will, without notice.

OUT OF ORDER
has become an overused bad joke around the building. everything is out of order. The elevators rarely work, the washing machines break all the time and the front door buzzer system is absolutely worthless. Repairs to things are not done on time and never fully completed.

MANAGEMENT = TERRIBLE.
They are just rude. Simply put. Some of the most miserable people i have ever dealt with.

Rude and Inefficient
The mamangement at 2200 is absolutely terrible. They're rude and terribly inefficient. The apartment builing smells of mold at the back entrance, the laundry facilities are poor, and the gym is a joke.

Other issues?
1. you have to have Fedex call you before the building will accept a package. isn't that part of the reason for living in an apartment building - for the amentities?
2. you will be charged $100 per lost key when your lease ends. nice revenue generator
3. you will be charged $120 if you don't shampoo your carpets. gimmie a break.
4. it takes a month to get the pro-rated portion of your last month's rent back....and your security deposit.
5. they're in the process of redoing the kitchens and bathrooms of the units. cheap construction.
6. the pigeons....good lord, they're all over the place.
7. the power goes out at least a dozen times over the summer.

And, Marita (manager) is the rudest woman I have ever met.

Great Apartment, Bad Management
Why do you only get one parking spot if you live in a double? and Why do I get my car towed when I LIVE THERE! No apologies or compensation for the mistake either. Other than horrendous management the place is really spacious and conveinent.

Good and Bad
I could write a novel analyzing this apartment complex. As you can see, almost all of the postings are negative about the management. I will get to that in a second. First the positive. The apartments are huge, and all have brand new appliances. The view is incredible of DC, and the apartment is in a great location. Walking distance from the pharmacy, grocery store (which is going to be completely redone soon), dry cleaning, movie rental, mechanic, salons, coffee shops, and some of the best restaurants in the entire DC area. The buses to the Pentagon and Pentagon City metro stops come ever 2 minutes during rush hour. Close driving distance from Pentagon city, DC, Ballston, Clarendon, Rosslyn, Georgetown, pretty much anywhere. The weight room was recently redone, and while small is very useful. I work out almost every day there and love it. The best part is the price, while usually from 1,000-1,400 for 1 and 2 bedrooms, that includes all utilities, the weight room, one parking spot (garage for 2 bedrooms) pool usage on the roof, internet in the lobby with a fax, etc. ā¦Ā See More>anonymous

WORST HOUISNG EXPERIENCE
I had teh worst prtment experience. Thoughthe location is good teh ppl especially the manager is extremely rude, racist, deceitful woman. Along with her the majority of the employees are rude, which makes you feel not to stay in the apartment. They lie and deny your application on saying credit score bad whihc is FALSE, if they dont liek you for any personal reasons. They migth be less educated but should treat the tanents well sicne at leats they are wokring and have educated background regardless of their origin. I HATED THEIR ATTITUDE.

Great location, OK apartments, BAD management
We still live here and love our apartment, even though the rent could be better. The location is great, views of DC are lovely, and it's sucha quiet neighborhood. But management is the worst; the staff (save maintenance) is rude and frequently unresponsive, the plumbing sucked all of last year, AC keeps breaking down during the summer, and I've watched from my balcony as someone got towed from their above-ground garage space.

Plumbing was a nightmare last year. Got a two-bdrm with 2.5 baths, but we were forced to use the den's 1/2 bath because our toilets kept flooding the apartment below and we just didn't want to tick off the 2 tempramental toilets. We got flooded once through our ceiling too. Instead of springing for a licensed plumber with all the rent we pay, they instead sent out maintenance who obviously couldn't do much.

And management...sigh. The rudest I've ever come across. There are, of course, two older ladies who are simply angelic, but they're evening staff mostly. The regular day staff (including a night-shift lady who's a resident) is horrible.

Also, there's just one assigned space per apartment and they wait-listā¦Ā See More>anonymous

2200 is same management as 2121 Columbia Pike
Same company, same rude management. If you are an American, you are dirt here. Foreigners, especially lower ranked embassy staff are treated like royalty. The Italian female manager hates military personnel and enforces the "regulations" on whim. On the surface it looks of, but after a while you realize you have been had. Pay a little more, get someplace decent.

It's a great place to live...the apartments are very spacious and could be priced a lot more. it is very quiet at night and throughout the entire day, which is a plus, but the management is horrible! what i mean by horrible is she is the rudest italian female i have ever met in my life! if you ignore her, everything else is great.

2200 Columbia Pike is a great place to live
I just wanted to write a review because I was surprised by the number of negative reviews posted about 2200 Columbia Pike. My husband and I live in a 2 bedroom apartment and we love it. We mostly deal with the front desk management in the evenings when we pick up our mail and they're very courteous and friendly. We've been lucky that we haven't had any major problems in our apartment so we haven't had to call on maintenance very often. We had 2 experiences with the maintenance staff and 1 experience was positive and the other was negative (we had trouble making management understand that we were having problems with our dishwasher). The walls are sound proofed well, there are no bugs, the building itself is very clean, the laundry services for the most part work well, and the swimming pool though not very large is a nice perk during DC weather. I also appreciate the fact that the management is constantly posting information in the elevators for residents (about water maintenance or fire drills), I feel like they do a good job or keeping a large building more or less well informed. Rude and unprofessional Management
The management at 2200 columbia pike is the worst. I am specifically talking about the day crew at the front desk. They are extremely rude, have a negative attitude about everything, never want to listen to the situation, they just want to blame the tenant about everything. I felt like I had to pull teeth just to ask for the most simplistic thing. They constantly lose paper work, such as parking arangements, then they want to tow your car because of it. There is no professionalism at this place, just a bunch of cranky, unorganized people working here.

DO NOT move here!! Terrible apartments!
I only lived there a year and have thankfully moved out after my lease was up. The apartments are old, which is fine but not for the price they charge. Many things in the apartment break down, including appliances, heating, AC, water taps. I had to go half a year with only a drizzle coming out of my kitchen faucet, because they could not (really would not)fix it. My car got towed from the parking lot when I first moved in, even though I had a parking pass clearly displayed! due to a "miscommunication". The manager: Maria Rita, is a Witch! I don't think her job includes anything but make your moving out or getting anything fixed a nightmare.
Keep looking! Move anywhere but there!!!!

Building OK, MANAGEMENT HORRIBLE!!
The management is awful! Unresponsive, extremely rude and inconsiderate. The air conditioning breaks frequestly, washing machines are always breaking down, the elevators are frightening - I got stuck before, the plumbing is always slow or stopped up, the desk staff is clueless, cars get towed from the visitors lot, not enough parking for visitors...
The building is great, and great location - too bad it is managed so poorly! Don't live here!

VERY POOR MANAGEMENT!
The tenants in the building are very nice, but I have never seen such poor management in all the apartments I have lived in. If you take time to write a letter to complain about something, you NEVER receive a personal response.

The air conditioning was broken on 4 separate occasions, one of them lasting a week, and no one was compensated. I had to get a hotel room for two days and when that became expensive I was forced to stay on my friend's couch.

Now we are having problems with the hot water. The building has been out of hot water on 3 separate occacsions for many hours at a time. I DO NOT recommend that anyone lives here. For the money you spend, you want to go somewhere that appreciates you!

Thank you.
