The good that keeps me here: 1) Can't beat the location a) quick access to 395, 66 and Arlington's main roads. b) Neighborhood is wonderful; restaurants and grocery within a block c) Metro buses stop right outside door with quick access to Metro. BM Smith has free shuttle bus that stops at buildings and goes to metro. 3) Wonderful older building with great views; solid construction with thick soundproofed walls, large units with great storage (my 1 bedroom has 5 closets. 4) Has a "vertical village" appeal; diverse and friendly neighbors. Good mix of new residents and those who have lived here long-term.
The annoyances: 1) Building has been under renovation for more years than it should have been. Much of design and workmanship has been shoddy; sacrificed original marble and beauty for modern plastic and glass. 2) Efforts to complete public areas has left resident areas patched together. Laundry room has outdated, badly mounted and poorly repaired machines. We are told the laundry is last on the renovation list! 3) AC has been broken more days than it has worked thus far this year. 4) Pool hours are available early am before work or later evening; so working people could better access.
I've looked around and not seen any place of similar value. I'm happy to be here.
