When I arrived to Richmond&#44; Va in 2007 I was accustomed to a certain type of lifestyle. Coming from Washington&#44; Dc I was used to housing holding a certain standard. I was afraid that the housing in Richmond&#39;s southside would be poor and unkept. To my surprise I came to visit Ashley Park and was thoroughy impressed and have been since becoming a tenant. I have to agree that I have not been totatally satisfied with the timely response to issues regarding maintanence. In the beginning the rental office staff weren&#39;t on the page with communication but worked hard to resolve all issues raised. They are courteous&#44; respectful&#44; helpful&#44; and efficient. I appreciate them for their hard work and efforts to meet my needs as a resident.

It is a great place to live...

*UPDATE*Maintenance is terrible. The first 2 requests we put in were taken care of pretty quickly. However this last one has sent me to the moon and back! Firstly&#44; while pulling the chain to lock it one night&#44; the chain fell out of its place in the wall. We put in a work order stating the chain had fallen out of place&#44; and we couldn&#39;t lock our door. So 3 days later it says online that the work order was complete&#44; and a note was made that the maintenance man &#34;couldn&#39;t find a problem&#34; ..... THERE&#39;S NO CHAIN ON THE DOOR! How can you not see that??

Secondly&#44; one of the burners on our stove blew up last night. Yes&#44; blew up. The burner was blown wide open&#44; and it blew a hole into the pot I was cooking in. I will try to include pictures if I can. It happened about 10pm so we called emergency maintenance. The man on call said he&#39;d be by between 8:30 and 8:45 the following morning. My fiance waited and waited and finally had to leave for work at 9:30&#44; no maintenance! I call the office at 10am the same day&#44; they tell me it will get taken care of right away and will give me a call once it&#39;s done. it&#39;s now 3:30 and still no call back! Between the 2 of us&#44; we&#39;ve called 4 times and no one will answer! I was really happy when we first moved in&#44; but now I&#39;m really starting to go back on our decision. By the way&#44; the on call maintenance man said that the burners we have usually go out after 2 years anyway&#44; so it&#39;s totally normal... If I had been standing in the kitchen when the explosion happened&#44; I for sure be in the hospital right now. VERY unsatisfied and will not hesitate to cal the NAA.

*UPDATE* Upon returning to the office after the holiday weekend, the property manager immediately called my fiance and apologized sincerely for what happened. She also said that she would personally see to it that we got 4 new burners installed by 5pm today whether they were in stock or not. (If they weren&apos;t in stock, she was going to send someone to Lowe&apos;s and get them) I am very happy with this response, and look forward to having new burners once I get home!

I have lived at Ashley park for years and loved it up until the management change. The new manager in the office is very rude. Don&#39;t let her smile fool you&#44; she&#39;s a very nasty person. There&#39;s only one person who&#39;s in the office that seems to truly care.  When ever I have maintenance issues&#44; the maintenance staff alway make you think it&#39;s your fault something is broken however they were addressed in a timely manor.  There Are a lot of pros to live at Ashley park but I think the cons are enough for me to move

If you are thinking of a nice&#44;comfortable&#44;relaxing place to live...Ashley Park is deffinately NOT it!! This apartment complex has problem after problem after problem of things going on.....that makes you want to pull your hair out! Where should I begin.....?! Well&#44; when I first moved into the apartment(the first day!)&#44; I gave them a list of things that were broken or damaged in my apartment that needed to be fixed&#44; including the drain being clogged&#44; the cabinets had cracks in them&#44;the cracks in some of the tile&#44;the mold on my drain&#44; and worse somebody&#39;s gum stucked to the white carpets...and what did they fix out of all that NOTHING(they just left me a note that they worked on the drain).Well&#44; a few months after I moved in&#44; there was rats running all around the complex.....and what was the excuse from the leasing office??..well they sent a letter to tenants saying it was our fault! How could it be our fault when...we have one dumpster in the whole complex and its OVER-FLOWING with trash! That leads me to the next problem&#44;(6 months or so after moving in) they decided that they were going to make cable mandatory for all residents! So halfway through my lease agreement I had to start paying an extra 50 dollars for something i didnt want(especially since i live on a tighter income!)When i went to the office to ask questions..they didnt say anything except&#44; management wants to do this so your just going to have to start paying the extra 50 bucks. Then a month or so later&#44; we got a water bill that was outstandingly high!(~about 130 dollars!)When I called the water company they said it was something that you had to discuss with the apartment complex since the tenants pay them the cost of utilities&#44; and in return they pay the city. Well&#44; when i went to the office they didnt know a single thing...and kept blaming everyone else...like they always do. But once again all they said was&#44; you got to pay it&#44; but this time they&#39;ll give us 3 months to pay it off. Well&#44; that month i paid my rent and half of that big bill...a week later&#44; i got a notice that said i had to pay the remaining in a 48hours or i face being kicked out. What else is worse...the ponds that they try to make like a feature of this place has mold&trash all in it...there is goose droppings everywhere&#44; that makes it hard to even walk with out stepping in it.(not to mention there is an overpopulation of geese in the complex...and if you get anywhere close they chase after you)&#44; everyones hot water heaters are breaking&#44; they randomly cut off your water usually without notice so they can work on it&#44; the cost of doing laundry in their facility is outrageous&#44; all their equipment in the workout room is broken&#44; there are pot holes all over the parking lots and roads and its a VERY unsafe complex(Richmond City Police has 16 criminal reports(this year 2008-2009) from this complex(most are assaults!). And the new leasing staff has been rude on several occasions to several tenants.The new apartment manager had sent out a letter saying to everyone when she first started in April&#44; that she asks that everyone treats each other with respect so that this will be a comfortable place to call home....how can we tentants call this home&#44; if the leasing staff is not even respectful?! If you are considering this place&#44; ask yourself one question that my mother had told me.....Why would i want to pay so much money for a tiny little apartment&#44; in a bad area of town???

I should&#39;ve read these reviews before moving into Ashley Park!!My experience...

I am very happy living in Ashley Park Apartments. I do feel safe and there is adequate lighting in the parking areas. The landscaping is kept up and looks nice. It is a very quiet community which is a big plus for me. The office staff are friendly, pleasant and helpful. The maintenance staff are prompt to fix any problem you may have.

I moved from out of state from one of their LUXURY sister properties and was led to believe this was a legit upgraded unit. SMH they only changed the cabinet doors. my unit wasnâ€™t clean, my tub was dirty, underneath all the cabinets were dirty, all appliances were dirty, my dryer and oven broken. My refrigerator was broken which caused nets to take over my entire apartment. Imagine trying to cook while bugs are swarming every where. They replaced my refrigerator with a old dirty one they kept in the shed. My sectional, floor, and wall were damaged all from moving my refrigerator.. Jenna Pitsenbarger Regional Property Manager East Division told me they werenâ€™t replacing my damaged furniture and for me to contact my insurance. $1355 base rent for a 1 bedroom plus $85 for wi-fi and cable plus a $18 community fee.. My apartment has no signal phone calls are either dropping or connection breaking up. iâ€™ve lived here for a month this community has lost electricity 5 times as iâ€™m typing the lights just came back on. One power outage lasting 12 hours. According to the email i was sent from the property someone was just shot out here the other dayâ€¦ TAKE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND GO ELSE WHERE YOUâ€™LL HATE IT HERE!!!!

The entire process of moving in couldn't have been more convenient. Most of the time I was hospitalized and the leading office was very patient,  and understanding during the entire process.  The apartment looks great,  everything works,  and I have an amazing view that should be on a ppst card.  I ended up having a maintenence emergenciny a few days after mobbing in,  it was promptly addressed and rectified.  I'm a happy resident.

Very  pleasant office staff Outstanding and always available this is the first apartment complex I've reside in that actually answers the phone Very Impressive customer service as well as knowledge of all the requirements of the area and surrounding businesses

My upstairs neighbors are horrible with all the stomping and my door looks like it's been tampered with, other than that I kinda love where I am especially coming from across the water! (Henrico county)
