Villages At West Laurel, blew my mind once I first moved in positively. After that it was an interesting transition.
Property: It is beautiful in the pictures and well maintained however I see that the grass is never fully cut in its entirety. I have a bush in front of my window in the front of my townhouse that doesn't stay maintained on a regular basis, always over growth and bugs constantly attacking my front door.
Cost: Rent has spiked over time, however finding the month to month value almost 3,000 dollars for only 1000 square foott or less is extremely questionable. Even though different things are being included within your rent you still have a pop up cost in certain aspects, pest control due to situations out of your control.
Staff: Very professional and willing to help if you go into the office or email them. However attempting to reach them on the phone is going to be a battle and patience is going to be required. I've noticed that you can call and call and you will always get a voicemail and you may get a follow up within 24-48 hours on a good day during business hours. However if you go into the office they are there and available. Since I work from home I do not always have the chance to go to the leasing office.
Maintenance: Since I moved in in July 2020 covid has been their excuse primarily because they are short staffed which I do try to give some credit to. Now that it is time for my renewal we had some issues with moving out and reluctantly required me to renew my lease. Yet doing so in the 3 weeks of renewal we had our hot water tank go which they fixed within the same day. Our air conditioning went out 5 days later and we are now on day 5 with no air and they just say we ordered the needed parts and pretty much like oh well its out of our hands.
I feel that villages at west laurel do not put urgency on things like that especially since we are in high heat advisory now. We all have to huddle down stairs in one room for five days because every other room in the townhouse is over 80 degrees. We were instructed that multiple homes in the complex are currently facing air conditioning malfunctions. Yet I feel that they should have eaten the cost and rushed to deliver the items the same day needed or hired a third party if they are so understaffed to do these repairs.
Overall: The apartment complex is okay to meet your needs but based on the level of service received while living here. I understand the cost for apartments have skyrocketed but the value of space, resources, and maintenance doesn't meet the cost of the homes. Even though they are superior in the space of customer service, every other aspect of the complex has lots of room for improvement if you are going to pay the outlandish amount of rent they charge. These are only my opinions. We are here another 13 months while my house is being built. It is a quiet, peaceful neighborhood and wonderful place to have children and family as well.
