The property has a noise problem with loud sports cars, very loud music coming from cars day and night, fireworks, people loitering in the parking lot. The property is old, 3 stories and residents climbing the stairs actually shake to walls in the apartments. The property is littered with trash. The area around the trash dumpsters is littered with trash. Construction contractors regularly fill the dumpsters with their hazardous waste and the property manager suggests residents ride around to find a dumpster which isn't full. Cobwebs and dirt in the breezeways of the three story apartment units are never cleaned. Their is no security on site, allowing the dumping of hazardous waste in the trash dumpsters. Lighting is scarce, some areas are pitch black at night. The last maintenance request I submitted for a plumbing problem in both bathrooms was addressed three weeks after submission. The staff is unapproachable, distant and only interested in acquiring new tenants. Existing tenants are virtually ignored. Except when rent is not received by the 1st; the property manager sends out a 14 day notice for payment on the 2nd. They refuse to negotiate new lease rates, increasing over $100 per month. Many long time residents have moved because of the exorbitant rental increases. This in the midst of a global pandemic when families are struggling just to keep their heads above water. Parking is scarce, towing not enforced. For prospective tenants, my suggestion is to tour the property before signing a lease. You are better off a single family home than to pay the prices The Villages at West Laurel is asking. Over $1400 for 2 bed/bath 975 sq nothing included. Electric, water, sewer, trash removal, internet, cable are all your responsibility. And the property manager demands to be included as additional insured on renters' policy at your expense.
