Dirty, unhygienic shared kitchen
The shared kitchen in this apartment is severely unhygienic and poorly managed. Dirty oil is constantly spilled across the stove, raw meat is left in the sink and refrigerator, and food messes are regularly abandoned without being cleaned. The kitchen smells foul most of the time and feels unsafe to use. I have reported this issue to management multiple times over an extended period, and nothing has been done to fix it. This is not a one-time problem — it is ongoing and ignored. If you care about basic sanitation or expect to cook your own meals, avoid this apartment. Photos are attached so prospective residents can see the condition for themselves.

No AC in unit, so expect 80+ degree all day during summer season. And even if all windows are opened it will not change much. No kitchen in-unit, and shared kitchen is always a mess; it seems nobody cleaned up after themselves. Even though there is a rule that leaving stuff there would get fined, nobody cared and it never changed. Beware that utilities are evenly shared and even though there is rule that this is a single occupancy building, A LOT of units are occupied by couples. So also expect to pay others' (hefty) bills. When I am confused about the issue that why I had to pay others' bills when quite a few units are occupied by multiple people, and came to ask the building management during last minutes of their office hour, the guy said I was irritating him because my complaint did not have substance and he did not want to talk to me outside of office hours. So it seems like when there is real issue (money involved), the building management does not really care and would not try to be helpful. They seem nice during move-in, but that's probably because they want you to rent the place. Pic explanation: This is what the kitchen looked like in 2018/11/09. It had stayed like this for 2+ weeks. If management did enforced the rule that would charge people for littering, then I don't think this would happen. It is clear that management does not give a F.

Very bad experience. Lots of homeless nearby the trash. Staff was not helpful and not friendly when you had issues. Maintenance service took very slow to respond and it took more than a week. Would have resolved the issues by myself by the time I came in. Would stay away from this place.

I have to say, there were a few good things about living here. The view from my corner unit was awesome, and there were plenty of windows and a sliding door so a nice breeze could come in during the summer months. That being said, there seemed to be a lack of care coming from the management team in terms of upkeep for the building and responding in a timely manner to the needs of residents. I could not get my smoke detector fixed (dangling off the ceiling by a cord) for over a month, which was funny considering I was warned upon move in of penalties for tampering with the smoke detector. The shared kitchen was always crawling with bugs, so I never used it except to wash the dishes I used in my room. For the price of these costly units, you do not get much else besides the bare minimum in return.

Avoid at all costs.
When I heard about this place I was told that it was no-frills, which isn't true! It offers the following amenities: filthy shared kitchens, neighbors who are frequently involved in drug dealing and domestic violence, people who use box cutters to carve swear words into the walls of the hallways, garbage strewn entry ways, homeless people who sleep near the dumpsters, laundry rooms where if you are lucky enough to find a working machine people will steal your clothing, and let's not forget the landlords who look the other way while it is all happening. And if you like seeing people smoking meth out of lightbulbs in the hallways you are in for a treat! DO NOT RENT HERE!

NEVER RENT HERE-LEARNED MY LESSON now with BEDBUGS
You'd think it was college kids and young working types in there oh-no. Its all druggies and ex-cons and dope pushers in this place but the landlords DGAF so long as the rent is paid and nobody torches the place. Building upkeep is a joke and the LOCKED dumpster enclosure is pointless as this certifies people pile their garbage at the gate. Winos and the scuzziest of Ave-punks squat under the carport and you could retire by the time the damn elevator gets to your floor-but its a 5 story building. Also as they have NO screening process whatsoever they have BEDBUGS. They have 3 washers and 3 dryers in the lobby but only 2 out of any set of machines work at any given time. To live here is like a slap in the face you have to pay for every month-so don't

Dont live here!
I moved here looking for an apartment that I could afford, and once I was trapped into a lease, It took me 4 weeks to get my microwave replaced after it would frequently stop working! Drug users/sellers hang out all the time across the street and parking lot, elevator and garage door works sometimes, Im pretty sure one of my neighbors is dealing drugs out of his apartment, people stopping by all the time for just 10 minutes..... All in all, Im very unhappy with this place and I hope you dont get trapped like I did.

Poor workmanship. Cheap materials used to build the property. I moved in when the building opened only after SEVERAL failed city inspections. Elevator frequently inoperable, frequent break-ins in garage, transients and drug use in dumpster area. Garage is poorly lit. No pets allowed, but several tenants have small dogs (not sure how they get away with that one)... Nice and cheap, great location for UW students, but not a long-term apartment choice.
