Not my favorite place
The office staff has been nothing but friendly when I have gone in to see them, however, after being told that I wasn't paying my full rent every month (which I was) for 3 to 4 months consecutively, I started to get tired of the complex. I live in one of the unrenovated apartments and am glad to be moving out! In response to the reviews that say that people who are complaining need to get a job and buy a house, I'd just like to say I have a job, but as a student renting is just a better idea for now. I do not appreciate the implications that those of us who live in the unrenovated building are moochers. I work very hard every day to pay rent, so I expect to be treated with respect and not have to come home to an apartment where the water has been shut off for the second time in a week, or where the first floor is off limits because of constant plumbing leaks. I expect that my money will go towards providing me with a safe place to live. That is not my view of the Mirage on Camelback.

It´s like living at a resort
My experience living at Mirage on Camelback has been phenomenal. I understand that in the past there may have been some issues with the previous management, but I´ve only ever dealt with the current staff/owners; Fairfield Properties. I´ve been renting a studio apartment here since last summer (and plan to renew for another year when my lease expires). With all the amenities available (huge pool, spa, spacious modern gym, tennis courts, business center, cyber caf? (with FREE coffee), on site convenience store, and covered parking) -- I feel like I live at a resort!

The building in which I live is recently (and stylishly) refurbished, clean/well kept, and actively managed. This is the first and only complex I´ve ever lived in that actually provides plastic baggies for pet waste removal, and plentiful trash receptacles (often conveniently located next to the mailboxes)! Occasionally on the weekends, I notice some litter in the elevator,(obvioulsy left by some rude or inconsiderate neighbors), but it is promptly cleaned up every Monday morning by the housekeeping staff. The laundry rooms are brand new, spanking clean, and more than reasonably priced. We have laundry cards with a chip that you load funds… See More>anonymous

better than some
things happen, the management is on top of most things but sometimes people come in yelling like they are on narcotics - staff is helpful and I probably won´t renew my lease only because some of my neighbors are jerks. for the money it is worth the price because it is near the center of phoenix and the freeways. I like the fact that they offer short leases and have free food on wednesdays.

Are you Kidding
First of all lets everyone keep in mind that these apartments were built in 1969, which means that there not going to be perfect. Also lets keep in mind that the management has to rent to whoever qualifies. Which means that the people everyone is complaining about has the same qualifications that the complainers have. Also if you would read your lease it says that they pay for the main electricity you have to pay for the sockets. The lease also states that the management is not responsible for your vehicle being stolen or broken into. Very few management companies will take this responsibility even at the most glamorous complexes. I wouldn´t say that the office staff is horrible, there busy. With 600 units and half of them bitching about something how are they supposed to react. I have been in the office when one of my "classy" neighbors came in and started screaming at the poor girl in the front. Keep in mind that when the manager isn´t there the leasing people have very little control over management decisions. Also compared to the rent of some apartments in the Biltmore area I wouldn´t complain about what you are getting.… See More>anonymous

Just wait...just wait
For those of you who are new to the community, wait until summer. You may want to invest in a fan. If you are seeking a new home, I recommend you definately look and see what else is available before you sign a lease anywhere...don´t be deceived...things are not always as it appears. a good place for the price
i have lived here for 6 months and the price is great for a property that has been re-developed. I just bought a house and i really liked it the mirage. Yes the fire alarms do go off, only if the residents learned how to cook right !!! They keep burning there damn food!!! seriously, im glad the fire alarms work ! the ant problem comes up sometimes and the staff at the mirage has the pest guy come out once a week on a tuesdy (FOR FREE) if you need them. Some places in the valley dont even offer that service.
THIS IS A GREAT PLACE FOR THE PRICE..........

From,

Jacob Neilson

Looks are VERY DECEIVING!!!
Let me tell you about my experience so far... When I first moved in it was during the winter months and to my suprise there was NO HEAT. I called the office and they assured me it would be working a couple days later. (They made up a story about having to boil some water for the heating system) The heat was NEVER turned on and I ended up having to buy a small electric heater to keep warm. Please take note that I am also paying for utilities. The walls are so thin that I can hear the men upstairs peeing in the toilet. (that is so disgusting!) I cannot even listen to my music at a decent level during the weekend without receiving a notice that I am disturbing the peace of my fellow neighbors. I pay rent just like everybody else!! WHY should I adjust my life in order to accomodate those who pay more rent than I do?! (Hint...Hint...)
This is very unfair and is exactly how you will be treated.

There is a serious problem with ants. (I called for assistance with that but they tried to schedule someone to come out… See More>stacey72

this place is alright
I lived here in the past two years and a friend of mine gave me this web site to check it out. WOW.... some of the comments make sense but from my own oponion this is a good place to stay !!!! Crime has no area coda and your living in a apartment community, of course you cant control things. The management here is pretty cool, they will take care of any areas of concern and always there to help you out.
I do recomend living here..........

pretty cool place
i moved to mirage last summer from florida for a job and didn´t know anybody in arizona at all. the mirage is definatly the place to meet people. it´s got all the right amenities. i´m kind of a partier so once i got settled in i had some people over and got a notice from the office the next day for my music. i went to talk to them and they were totally cool about listening to my side of the story. for the area and the remodeling of my aparment the price is definatly right. i can´t complain about that especiallly with utilities included. i wish they had assigned parking but i am on the list to get a reserved underground space so thats good. i can´t believe some of the stuff people say about it here! in my 7 months here i have been pretty happy. my neighbors are cool, the maintenance keeps stuff up around the property and the office staff is really nice. don´t listen to all the garbage, come and check it out for yourself.

hey Mr. Class
First of all the comments you exonerated in your letter proves once again that money and class do not run hand in hand. I do not give a ---- (how is that for class) how big your house is. I have had bathrooms that are bigger than your garage in your new litte 5000 square foot home. I lived with the owner of a little company called PEPSI you may have heard of them being so ------- classy. This property is terrible and always will be and when they built in in 1959 they should have bombed the ------- thing in 1960. So nice try even though you are truly probably an employee with the company coming up with some -------- story like the rest of them. Your ignorance is overwhelming and I know it is difficult to find individuals who react to such nonsense but then again half the trash at those apartments can´t even speak english. But there is a couole of universal words in language and the biggest one of all is ---- OFF STUPID. and just so you know 5000 square feet is different than 5000 square inches o.k. By,by

some thoughts about Mirage
The staff is nice. I have never met anyone representing the place that I didn´t like. The one thing that bothered me is that one of the maintenance guys has walked around with a snake wrapped around his body when off duty. I think that´s a bit odd. And the exrement from the dogs is a very real problem. I see it everyday, morning and night.

Pro and Con list
Cons:

-fire alarms off very frequently, for awhile there once a week.

-when i lived in a studio there before that buildings renovation, I has people that lived across from me that fought so bad i had to call the cops. The unrenovated buildings had some pretty yucky people in it.

-moved to a two bedroom in a renovated building, the couple that lived across from me liked to fight too, they would get loud.

-frequently smell pot smoke in the hallway.

-parking is lousy, no assigned spots, just park where you can. for me it was always way out in the lot.

-thermostat is just there for looks, the office controls the apartment temps. in the summer they froze me out, now that it is winter i have to turn fans on to stay cool.

-my car was broken into twice in the parking garage.

Pros:

-nice apartments, newly renovated ones are very comfortable. i have a two bedroom and the kitchen is really nice. dishwasher works great, oven and stove work great.

-havent´t had any problems with any of the appliances in the apartment.

-when i have problems maintnence has been quick to fix problems.

-office staff is nice, and actually listen,… See More>hatethemirage

TERRIABLE!
This place absolutely sucks! Be smart, and don´t get suckered in by the leasing agents at the Mirage. They are notorious for saying things that aren´t true, and when you question them later on it, they basically will tell you "tough ----!" ...in their own special way.

Comments from another unhappy resident
First of all, the customer service at this apartment is non-existent! My lease recently expired, need-less to say I wasn´t going to renew. I received a final utility in mid October, which was to be paid by the end of my lease, which was the end of November. On November 5th, I received a hand delivered letter stating that I owed the Mirage on Camelback $107.00 and that I needed to pay ASAP or they would take legal action. I paid my rent on the 1st, so had no idea to what this was in reference to. When I called to inquire, I was advised that this was in reference to my final utility bill, and that the manager purposely used that stationary rush tenants to make payments, even though she did acknowledge that I didn´t owe this amount for another 3 weeks. One week later, I received another letter from the manager stating that she didn´t want to keep pestering me on the amount due, and again requested that payment be received ASAP. Frustrated with this, I just went ahead a wrote out this check, and dropped it in the overnight mail… See More>anonymous

Thieves
If you enjoy going to sleep at night with one eye open move in to the Mirage. If you like waking up for work and finding your car missing move into the Mirage. Basically all the reviews written about the Mirage hit the nail on the head, this was the worst experience of my LIFE and I’m not exaggerating! Please don’t make the same mistake I did.

Depends on your definition of Class
If you call bugs, ant, and termite hills in your closet class, you got it.

If you call filthy hallway ceiling tiles missing with exposed corrosion on the pipes class, you got it.

If you call no assistance from mgt class, yep you got it.

If you call stolen vehicle and broken into vehicles, stolen radios, and trashed furnishing left out in the open by who knows who class, you got it.

If you move here, your nightmare has just begun.
Awesome Community Built in 1969
The Mirage was built in 1969. It is located in the historic Biltmore area. There are several residents that have lived here since this community opened in 1969. Since it was built at that time it has solid block construction, something you do not find in brand new communities.
It features a built in convenience store.deli, a cyber cafe with high speed internet, a professional size gym with free weights, an oversized heated pool, a large spa, tennis courts, underground parking, 4 floors with elevator access, 7 laundry facilities, upgraded GE Profile appliance on the exclusive pent house level and so much more!
I love the Mirage! I am building a home and do not agree with other comments about the people that live here. There may be a few bad seeds but that is anywhere. I am a professional executive building a 5,000 square foot house. I would like to think that I had a good idea of what is or is not classy. After all we are talking about apartment living which should be temporary anyway. So I suggest the people writing those negative reviews get better jobs, save money and buy a house!

Wretched! Stay Away!!!
This place is horrible. I moved in a year ago and cannot wait until my lease is up. I had a friend who lived here and suffered respiritory problems because of mold. The apartments only wanted to move him into another apartment. It took him a month to get the management to let him break his lease without charging him. I had another friend who lived here and had to deal with no air conditioner for over a month in the middle of the summer. The office said there was nothing they could do and told her to stop calling them. A month after I moved in, the guy accross the hall was arrested. I suppose it had something to do with the billows of pot smoke coming out of his apartment day and night. My pipes are constantly backing up, the management is out of money and refuse to fix anything, and I hate to go outside of my apartment after 9:00 because of all the shady people around here. Like many people that live here, I´ve had my car broken into. The management flat out lies. … See More>anonymous

Sad and Not Worth The Money Or Effort to Try to be Positive
Smell is intolerable; rotting garbage and extremely smelly hallways/common areas. Rent is way to high (even with their perks to make it reasonable) for what you live in. The complex is over 30 years old (I hear) and they are attempting to modernize but it is still a poor living environment. They used to check people out prior to moving in but they have not been checking out the recent newer tenant...some of them are less than desirable neighbors. Some neighbors are really nice but they seem to move out as soon as the lease is up. Laundry rooms are always dirty so you end up cleaning up the place before starting your laundry. The air conditioning and heating in the complex are odd; chilled air so you depend on chilled or heated water to cool your apt and warm the air during the applicable season. The parking lots is awful; very insecure and many stolen vehicles and break ins. We experienced both personally. Mgt was unsympathic and could do little to nothing for you. No security; just a courtesy patrol which appears invisible unless you call them. Loud music in hallways, the… See More>Arcadia
