Maintenance and office staff

The office staff and maintenance here have been very helpful. We really appreciate your dedication in making sure that your tenants are taken care of in a timely and professional manner. The grounds here are clean and maintained. We have lived here for over 6 years now, and are proud to call it our home. Thanks again.

    no parking constant thefts the office claims no liability constant drug deals out dated appliances dirty scuffed kitchen cabinetry manager overwhelming lack of knowledge on how to manage a property grass areas all littered with dog poop DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND VISIT THE PROPERTY IN THE DAY AND NIGHT. HUGE DIFFERENCE.

    "This community was an extremely beautiful, well kept and peaceful community. Everything was so beautiful that I felt like I was at a resort or apartment home. Penny and the entire office staffs was extremely accommodating and friendly also. It could not be better located and was amidst a lot of shopping, Promenade Mall, Costco are only 5 minutes away, all brand name famous restaurants are here, beautiful wineries are only 10 minutes drive, transportation and schools. On top of that there are convenient hardware stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Super Walmart, Medical center, Doctors, dentists and many many more... You name them then you find them there. It offered amenities that most communities did not." The Leasing Office Manager Penny is so great that make me feel safe and please to live there for more than 5 years. I hated to leave but I had no choice because job relocation required.

      I actually have to warn any retired Military veteran ,friends and family. My boyfriend a Retired veteran needed of my assistance to find and rent a apartment. But after back and forth with a so called Manager -Penny Baxter in which she was extremely rude and condescending towards him .and Myself. Just because I was the one involved with getting information for him do to his medical condition. I may not be the one renting but she needs to have common courtesy and not make threat to a prospective resident. She threatened him by saying if she saw me staying or living there she would have him removed and she also made a comment that I call for him alot. Now I don't think you want to start with prospective resident in that manner. My boyfriend was upset and anger when he returned to the car after having this conversation with Penny Baxter . He expressed to me he felt threatened and did not want to take the apartment. I agreed with him and I then called Portofino apartments and asked to speak with the manager Penny Baxter I keep saying her name so everyone remembers her. I told her how my boyfriend felt and that he no longer wanted to take the apartment. I expressed to her that I did do a lot if the calls and talking but if she would of been nicer and less condescending she would of known the reason why since I'm his designated person to help him. But all she said with a attitude is he can come by and pick up his 100 deposit the next day. I told her we both would and that I was going to contact corporate and make a complaint. She said fine and gave me there number but she said they won't talk to you since your not the renter I said that was fine but I was still making a complaint. I just wanted to WARN any prospective resident that this place is not in it for the residents and management is in much need of patient satisfaction training....Ok

        One word: RATS, and more RATS. MGR IN DENIAL. There's nothing more you need to know. Keep looking or risk your life. This app keeps telling me to write more, not enough text, tell us a bit more about the property. It's only RATS there. Sick kids, rats. Not healthy, not safe. Is that enough?

          We've been living here for a month . So far so good. Well at least better than our old place The kitchen, living room, rooms, and balcony are spacious . I wish they would change the policy for towing. I had someone park on my spot so I left a note. I get home from work around 4am and I hate looking for my own parking since someone decided to be inconsiderate and park on my spot . If I had an option to tow the car I would've done so but I was told we need the apt approval. Pfft! Today when I was deep cleaning the bathroom I noticed there were hairs painted on the walls. My husband said it could be from the paint brush but I doubt it because it looks like human hair ! Different lengths too. There's one that's the size of arm hair or pubes and there's some as long as my hair. I have never seen a paintbrush that has the same length as my hair haha. I looked carefully and noticed a lot of them in both bathrooms. So gross! Now I have to pick all of them and sanitize the walls. The closet in my kids room was dirty upon move in . I don't mind that everything is outdated . If they renovate I'm sure the apt would be as expensive as the other apts here in Temecula that had been renovated as well. The managers were nice which I liked .

            A big decision for my wife and I when looking at apartments homes were a frindley staff and that is what you will get here.The two bedrooms we looked at were spacish and the layout suited our needs.The special they have going on is amazing considering not to many apparments in temecula or murrieta have a deal where you can choose to pay more at move in with a cheaper months rent or pay less and monthly rent is more.It works great for us cause we all no moving is not cheap boxes truck reantal and in my case movers as well because my back injury.The appliances are a little out dated but was not a issues for my wife and I you dont own them anyways so as long as there clean and they work Im ok with that cause my monthly rent is in my budget.Overall I would recommend this to all who is trying to save money and in my case build my credit and purchase another home someday.

              We have lived in Portofino for a almost a couple years now and we are very happy with our life here. I could complain about some arnory children, or some irresponsible parents; but in what neighborhood can't you find that? As for the apartments, we are thrilled with our three bedroom. It is spacious and well laid out. While all the appliance work perfectly, they are out dated. I'm praying corporate and Cannon Managements wakes up one day and realizes tenants who rent would like the same freedom as they have when they go home and realize they want to change their cabinet doors this weekend because they are old and look a bit worn here and there. Or that their fridge no longer fits their style and they're going to go buy a new one next month. I think that is going to be my biggest complaint. It seems wrong to raise rent on tenants every year and not update anything in the apartments nor allow tenants to make their own changes and we see necessary....since we're ARE the ones living in the unit and WE are the ones that can see what needs to be fixed and/or updated. It's not horrible, not even nose-cringe worthy. But a person like me who loves to decorate her home and make it look nice can go stir crazy sometimes being limited by these things. Ants are a problem, especially in the hotter seasons. There is a company that sprays every Monday and it does work...for a while. We routinely spray ever couple months. If we put off any longer than that, we end up spotting a few here and there again. I have learned ants seem to be a problem everywhere in Caliornia though. lol The grounds are beautiful and Portofino has a very peaceful feel to it. Of course, your neighbors may have an affect on that. I'm fortunate to have three wonderful neighbors. Maintenance is great! I might call the office once a week with a different request, even if it's because the wind blew a blind off one of the windows. They are out the same day 98% of the time fixing the problem and they do a wonderful job! The men are always polite and professional. The office staff....unless a tenant tried to push buttons and didn't get their way, there is never any need for anyone here to complain about the staff. They are also tenants here who put up with the same neighbors, same appliances, same apartment; and they work hard everyday to reinforce lease agreements, and to meet everyones expectations and make all their tenants happy. I appreciate how hard they work and I think all the ladies are wonderfully nice people! Anywhere you live, your experience is what you make of it. My family has been very happy here, and we plan to stay here until we find we are ready and able to buy a house. Until then, we see no reason to look elsewhere. Portofino Apartments is a great apartment community!

                My family and I moved into Portofino last June. The property is not brand new but the rent price is reasonable and I love all the lovely trees & flowers. The day we moved it our a/c was not working and its was extremely hot, I called the manager and with in an hour someone was there and fixed it. We have an minor complaints our washer kept being off balance they tried to fix it but it still continued, the maintenance switched it out. We have had ants but was sprayed with in a couple days. I like that all the employees live there and I see a couple of them at the gym there. I would recommend living here.

                  Let me start off by saying it's not the worst apartment I've ever lived at, but definitely not the best... Especially for paying as much rent as I did! Hell to the no. Never again Portofino. Ok so first off, we were looking for a place on the outskirts of Temecula, so we just randomly drove up Rancho California Road, and saw the complex/portofino sign. It does look very nice on the outside, they really do keep up with the landscaping - MOST of the time. Walked into the office, was greeted by Ida... She showed us a model, kinda liked the place but automatically thought it was a bit pricy... Anyway our only thing was that we wanted an upstairs unit. That's what we kinda always had so we just wanted it that way. She assured us the apartment we were getting was an upstairs unit, but couldn't show us at that moment because the tenants were still in it. Ok cool, well as long as it was an upstairs unit we didn't care... We should have known better and just checked it out ourselves because it was definitely a lower unit. That's where the fun begins. We call her about it, places us on hold forever trying to find an upstairs unit ready for us to move into.... Just chaos. We end up just staying in the apartment they originally had for us (lower unit) because I had already forwarded everything and changed all the addresses... Didn't want to deal with it. Start moving in, go into the master bedroom, and find FECES in the master bathroom toilet! As much as someone might think I am joking, I can promise you right now I'm not. My husband went nuts. Called for the manager (Penny), who ended up showing up to our apartment like 20 min later, who only showed up because my husband "was yelling so loud I could hear him in my Mustang, with the top down, on the freeway." Lol offered us a refund... Said they would pay cleaning expenses when we moved out... And that we did when our lease ended. The maintenance people are nice, but sometimes take forever to complete something... The office is rude about maintenance requests.. The list goes on and on. Pet peeve of mine was when they would send fliers to the tenants.. They were always not spelled correctly! Like really people... Let's use Uppercase words at the beginning of a sentence, let's use apostrophes, commas, periods, etc. I'm not saying my complaint here doesn't have errors but I'm typing on a freakin iPhone, I'm not trying to be a professional apartment management office. I'm just saying...... Some amenities dont really work (jacuzzi, basketball net messed up, lock to pool is always jamming and messed up...) but they don't take the time to fix or check out. It's nice you can make copies, fax and scan for free... That was neat. Also thought it was cool they had a tiny little gym, a little too small for that huge complex, but I never saw many people in it so I guess it doesn't matter :). Parking kinda sucks but you get used to it... And everyone has a dog. Even if you think you are in the no dog zone, many people around you have a dog. I can keep going on and on...... Anyway, didn't have the best experience there, was way overpriced, ended up being not worth it... and I also wouldn't recommend it.

                    My Family and I moved into Portofino about six months ago, I had not read the reviews online, or sadly I would have not moved here. Luckily we did move in, everyone near our apartment and very nice, Penny and all the employees and very helpful, the property reflect that. I suggest if you are looking for an apartment stop by meet the girls in the office and decide for yourself.

                      I have lived at Portofino for the last 7 years. In that time they have had the same manager and the same maintenance man. Yes I too have had ants as did my house before I moved here, only difference is I had to pay a monthly pest control $75 a month to treat my house and yard. Portofino offers free weekly pest control as well as having a bee hive removed by my bedroom window. Portofino is over 13 yrs old, yes the appliances do break down but they are fixed. In fact every time I call to let them know my disposal is clogged, my smoke detector is beeping, toilet clogged or not flushing the repairs are made within a day for no charge unlike owning a home where you have to pay a plumber, electrician or a a/c man! I'm only posting all this because I have referred friends to Portofino and they have come across a few negative reviews. As a supervisor in the retail management field. I remind them of that saying "the unhappy customer shouts it to the world but the majority of the happy/satisfied customers generally keep it to themselves"

                        My husband and I have owned our homes for 40 years, so I was a little nervous that apartment living would require some adjustments on our part. Let me tell you, our experience here has been nothing but positive! The staff cheerfully answered all our questions and guided us through the process of this transition in our lives. Our apartment is cozy and our king-size bedroom set fits in the huge bedroom with ease! We love it here! Our neighbors are so quiet I thought the apartments must be unrented. Maintenance staff is very responsive and efficient, and Penny and the office staff are friendly and welcoming. Please consider this great place if you are looking!

                          My husband and I moved here almost two weeks ago. We had some trepidations because we are retired, have been homeowners for over 30 years, and haven't lived in an apartment since we were first married more than 40 years ago! Our apartment is perfect for us and the staff has been absolutely wonderful. They have made our transition to apartment living a positive experience. I have a handicap and they have been more than accommodating! Our unit is so quiet that I questioned whether anyone lives in the surrounding units. I think we are going to love it here.

                            I moved into Portofino 5 years ago and I LOVE it. I live in a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom and enjoy having 2 large closets in my HUGE bedroom. The staff has been wonderful throughout the time I have lived here. They are always very sweet and helpful. I guess I've been blessed with great neighbors over the last 5 years because I've never had any problems with noise or messy neighbors. I live near the back pool and the maintenance staff has always kept it and the rest of the community looking very nice. I am always very proud to bring my family and friends to my home.

                              I am updating my review of our apartment. We've been here six months now. First...the office staff ARE wonderful! They listen and respond professionally and with genuine concern. They are all residents themselves and understand all our concerns. They are quick and willing to fix issues inside the apartment as soon as complaints are made. Our noisy upstairs neighbors have moved out, and new tenants have moved in. They have children...but are so much quieter than the previos tennants! We enjoy having them and seeing our children get along with theirs. And it's nice to be able to enjoy our evenings in the living room without having to listen to romping and yelling and stomping all hours of the night anymore! There are almost always crew on the grounds keeping the grass cut, though I do think the bushes 'could' be trimmed a little more often. But now I'm just being picky! lol The pool is maintained daily. The tennis court does need some fence maintenance, but nothing so hideous that we don't enjoy ourselves when we go. Overall, yes, the apartments are great, the space is wonderful, staff is great, and we've had a positive experience here, especially now that we're not stressed from night noise from the old neighbors! I love the town of Temecula, and I am definitely happy here at Portofino. Great apartments, wonderful, beautiful town!

                                When we moved in this place was decent, it has gradually gone down hill. just taking a walk around the property, you smell marijuana from half of the apartments. rap music with foul language from the other half. It is now the end of may and grounds are still covered in dead leaves that haven't fallen in two months. we had a great landscaper that kept this place beautiful, now they have replaced him with some tatted up "gangbanger" looking thug. dogs are huge issue. they say they must be under 20 or 25 pounds but they have labs and shepherds and some very large pit bulls. and it seems that nobody cleans up after them. I have a twenty pound dog and it is almost impossible to clean up after my dog without stepping in some others dogs waste. also there are many people with multiple dogs, including the managers family that has 3 dogs and a couple of cats, not to mention they use their patio to store their junk for the swap meet. we had a great maintenance man here and he left so they replaced him with some young kid that knows nothing. the fire alarms are so sensitive that if you turn your oven up past 400 degrees it goes off. we have gas stoves, but no exhaust vent(which i believe is not to code). and the amount of chain smokers around the apartment is ridiculous, i haven't been able to open windows since I've moved in. forget about parking! you do get one spot really far from you apartment, but if you have two cars forget about it. they do have a new "non smoking" area which the manager conveniently set up in the area she lives in. but they also made it no dogs aloud...well except for her family...we constantly have kids skate boarding outside of our window, so forget about sleep. the wasps nest around the property are out of control. i have called several times and they do nothing. i have to wait until night time to do any laundry be cause the wasps are so bad on my patio.and lets not forget about the rats! rats everywhere!nothing worse than trying to fall asleep with the sound of rats in the attic chewing on the structure and wires, and again they do the very minimum to try and fix it.I would not recommend this property to anyone. I think the Cannon management group should really look into the management here, but hey, they probably don't care as long as the units are rented!

                                    The worst management you could imagine! I was constantly being harassed by the maintenance workers. One time I had parked in someone else's spot because mine had been taken (like usual) and apparently had a maintence workers space. He banged on my door and repeatedly rang the door bell for TEN MINUTES at 7 am. I waited until management opened at 9 and they didn't do a thing about it. For months after this incident I was harassed, being pregnant I couldn't live here anymore. I could never call Portofino home because of how unwelcome they make you feel. Over priced and horrible management.

                                      THE UNIT IS FILTHY DIRTY, APPLIANCES WAS OLD WITH RUSTS, COUNTER TOPS ARE DISGUSTING, CABINETS DOORS ARE ROUGH, AGED OLD WITH NO HANDLES, FAUCETS GOT MOLDS, CARPETS WAS NOT CHANGED SINCE THE PREVIOUS RENTER FOR 2 YEARS, VERY TOP CABINETS HAS BLACK TINY POOPS OF COCK ROACHES AND RATS. THE RESIDENT RENTER WHO RECOMMEND US WAS SO EMBARRASSED DUE TO THE CONDITION OF THE APARTMENT UNIT (NOT PREPARED FOR MOVE-IN)WE BOTH COMPLAINT. BEWARE OF THE MANAGER WHO WILL BILL YOU AFTER YOU MOVE OUT (FOR A PRICE OF NEW) FOR THE OLD APPLIANCES THAT IS STILL WORKING GOOD AND STILL STANDING IN THEIR UNIT (WHOM WE USE FOR 34 MOS). DO YOU THINK IT IS FAIR? AFTER WE MOVE OUT THEY NEVER ENTERTAIN OUR CALL, THEY ONLY CARE IF YOU ARE A NEW PROSPECTIVE RENTER. MANAGER OF PORTOFINO? WOW! SUPER MEAN AND UNFRIENDLY.

                                        The maintenance staff does a good job of keeping the property clean. The office staff was really helpful with my move. I'm in love with my apartment! My one bedroom is HUGE, and I am very satisfied with the management staff. I love it here! And recommend Portofino to all of my friends and family.

                                          I refered a friend to Portofino becuase I have lived here for 6years, she read the reviews on this site and was very concerned. I WOULD NEVER RECOMOMMEND PORTOFINO UNLESS I TRULY LOVED LIVING HERE...!!!! Every home will get pest...they have a pest guy here once a week, no charge to me. Anytime something stops working or I have a leak they fix it with-in a day. All the people who work there also live there I think the mangager has lived there 11years. They are always friendly and helpful. Dont be so quick to judge, go see them and form your own opinion!

                                            Horrible apartments. I have lived here almost two months and desperately want OUT!! the appliances are very old and do not work well... the counters a disgusting, they coat them with some white pain like stuff and claim they are "new". the cabinets are so old the color is literally worn off and the worst part is they are COMPLETELY infested with ANTS! I do not recommend anyone move into these apartments unless you like old over priced dirty bug infested homes.

                                                Honestly...

                                                I've lived in a lot of apartments, I wouldn't recommend this one to anybody. Our unit has poor ventilation and black mold grows in the bathroom and along the window in the room. Due to our neighbors smoking outside we had to keep windows closed making it worse. I know that bad neighbors are a given when renting, but we had a family with like seven kids living in an upper apt and they would stomp up and down the steps like a stampede (aren't there rules to having large groups live in upper units?). They passed a rule saying that our area was smoke free but that didn't stop our neighbors. They even threw their cigarette butts right in the dirt plot by our door. I couldn't tell if they didn't like us (they had no reason to) or if they really were that inconsiderate and trashy. I can't say anything about management (because we never really had a problem so I'm not sure how they'd deal if we needed something fixed) but I did find it annoying when they were putting in new fire detectors and they said they'd be entering our unit anytime from 9am-5pm in the next week. Really? They couldn't organize better to at least split it up and give us two days or something to expect them. They didn't even show up that week and came unannounced the next week. I work from home and occasionally shower mid-day so I really thought that was rude. When our lease was up we got no notice from the office (which I thought was weird) and we had to approach them to re-sighn. What would have happened if we didn't go into the office? I wonder. We only re-signed due to financial hardship but we are SO out of here when it is up at the end of this year!
