I do not recommend
I'm just waiting for my lease to end so that I can move. I do not like people roaming around the apartments. I also do not like the staff here. They are not professional and do not care about their residents. The apartment is nice inside though, and the location is good.

The complex is changing
When i first moved here everything was nice the management company seemed to have everything in order. The property manager seemed to have the property well organized, the office staff seemed happy to serve you. About 2 months ago a new property manager took over the property and it has already shown a negative change. The leasing staff has been down graded also with rude and unfriendly people. The complex is a very nice community but with the new change in the leasing office its only a matter of time before the property will be trash. The leasing center is always closed for some unprofound reasons.

NICE PLACE!!!
I just moved into an apt here at the Marquis and i must say my experience was great. My apt is very nice with new carpet and I'm happy there is an exterminator that comes every week as well as an intrusion alarm and gated entry. I must say that this is one of the nicer complexes around here that i looked at, I'm glad I chose the marquis and hope to have a long stay here.

The best ever
I have looked at a numer of apartments on this side of town because it is closer to my employer. Thumbs up for the staff at the Marquis. The area is very clean. We have had some problems with the gate but it was resolved quickly. A gated community is the only way to go during these times. I have been here 6 months and love the people. It is so nice and quiet I will be here for awhile.

This place is a real trip. I lived here for two years out of location to the airport. It wasn't bad at first, but the neighbors were always loud and you can here everything. I know this is an apartment and I lived in a few across the US and this was the worse. I lived above a stripper and she would have sex almost everynight. When I moved out, they told me that my deposit wasnt really a deposit, so I shat in the toilet and left it there to stew. Also had my car broken into, nothing happened. Also, I shat on the carpet to.

Sorry to have to move
I have to start first off by mentioning the previous reviews of the staff. Customer service is a HUGE issue for me, and I have been nothing but pleased by both the office and maintenance staff. For the few minor maintenance issues I've had during my time here, someone has been by to look at/fix it usually within a couple hours. If some of the lazy, dirty, selfish individuals who feel like someone else should have to clean up after them wouldn't leave trash, etc. lying around, maybe the maintenance & grounds staff would have more time to come fix your problems! Also about the speedbumps and gates... pretty much every apartment complex has speedbumps, where did you think you were moving to? And I agree with a previous poster, if people weren't trying to set new land speed records through the parking lot, those things wouldn't be tearing your car apart...or maybe you just need a new car? Yes, there have been some issues with the gates also. Usually they have been fixed within a day or two, and it is due to idiots that try to squeeze in behind someone who has opened the gate, even when it specifically states that it is timed for ONE CAR. Things happen, get over it. I have lived here for almost four years now, and could not have been happier with my apartment, the staff, and the complex in general. The only justified complaint I can think of would be the exercise room. I don't think it's nearly big enough for the size of the complex, and the equipment (last time I was in there) was older and fairly run down. I prefer outdoor activities anyway (running & biking), so this has not been a big deal to me. The usual annoyances of apartment living are present (sometimes loud neighbors, cars zipping through the parking lot, etc.) but those are things that need to be attributed to the specific residents, not the apartments. I am getting ready to move in about a month, and I hope that in my new location I can find a decent apartment, at a decent price, with a great staff, just like I found here at the Marquis.

Worse Move Ever!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been here for 8 mths and this is the worse place to live. First of all the speed bumps! Make sure you have money for car repairs. The gate to get in is always broke and the exit gate is subject to not open in the morning! My garbage disposal has never worked. Called maintenance to fix it and they orderd a piece that never came in. I just learned to live without it. Also the tub always stops up! I should buy stock in Drano I buy so much. And the most absulotly worse thing of all is the nosie thourgh the floor from the peole above you! They most of just used cheap wood between the floors. Its WWE every nite here! Not to mention my car was stolen, and so were two other people from my building alone. And you always see cars with rims one day, and sitting on bricks the next. I thought this was a good move, but your water bill is split between all the people in your building. The less people in your building the more your water bill! Check it out! I will NOT be extendind my stay here for more than my lease. I am looking to move now!

Thanks Management
I just movd into the Marquis two weeks ago. The staff and Manager were great and very helpful they went out of the way to make sure the move was smooth and organized. I love the look and felt like they were there to help. The New Manager was great which is something you don't get from apartments sometimes. So again thanks my son and I have found a home.

BEST COMPLEX IN CLAYTON COUNTY!!!!
I just want to start off by saying that the Property Manager is doing a helluva job by keeping this complex decent which isn't an easy thing to do in Clayton County. I like the class of people that live here, most are decent working class people that care about where they live The maintenance staff is awesome!!!! Property Manager and Asst Manager keep up the good work and I am going to write to Steven Bell about you. Because you have a difficult job and the reason I am writing this is because I had a slight problem and you went abovend beyond to assist me with it. Thnak you soooo much I am very appreciative. I hope to have a long stay at the Marquis.

Things are so MUCH better!
I have lived at Marquis for 4 years and agree that the reviews written about the old staff is so. Rickie has been the manager since 2007 and she has terminated all of the old office staff and lord knows it needed to be done. They are the best! They have resident events, the customer service is top notch and the maintenance is awesome. Rickie had a great team in place now. I love living here now and don't plan on moving if things keeps getting better! Rickie does her job and has our best interest at heart. She has no tolerance for the BS (thank goodness) and will help you if you just communicate with her. I'm sure so has made some folks made because they want to do want they want and she doesn't have it! Don't come here and screw up...she loves her property and will not allow anyone to destroy it! The manager makes a difference know matter were you live and it take the management company a minute to get it right and I believe that they finally hired the right Manager who knows her stuff. Rickie is very direct and you can appreicate someone like that because at least you know whats going on and don't worry about lies being told. Rickie is the BEST thing that has happened to our property and I know it's because of her is why things are SO MUCH better! Thanks Rickie for a job well done!

New and Improved Marquis at Mt Zion
I moved in around December 2006 and I love it. My company comes to visit and compliments on the "niceness" of the complex. There are a few young children in the complex and when they are out playing their parents are never too far away. I did have my old car broken into and the complex didn't send out a letter referencing "some incidences" until a month or two later. The new staff is very friendly and are always willing to help, although the front desk person changes every week. They just installed cameras at the front gate to monitor any tail-gaters and the arm infront of the gate hasn't been broken since. They have really stepped up the security and service I just wish there was a roaming courtesy officer during the night when me and a few of neighbors get off of work. They are also military friendly. I love it and will be here for a little while longer.

Non caring staff
The people that work there are so mean. They have no heart. I have lived here for a while and see them often, and they have no clue who you are. They leave before they close. If theres a problem with my apt. they come fix it with an attitude like you are asking them to remodel the whole apt. The staff just sucks!! Nice apts, but if you like friendly people, and good customer service, this anit it!!!! If they got a whole new staff in the front, this would be a place I'd recommend to others. But I can't wait to move just because of the office staff. They think that thier job is great! But lets face it, ANYBODY can show apts and sign paperwork with people. It dosen't take much (Intelligence that is) to do what they do, and they don't do that!!

Stupid, Incompetent Staff
The whole experience was awful!! I moved in and a month later broke my lease because the staff had lied to me and the management did not honor what was quoted by a staff member. I was told there was no transfer fee -- when there was-- and I was also told that having satellite dish would be no problem-- but to my surprise I could not have one installed. Then they changed their story and said I could but would have to pay a $500 dollar deposit. I told the management that I was told different and they did know that the girl who told me this was incompetent. So they fired the girl but did nothing for me and my situation. I was only told repeatedly there was nothing they could do. So I broke my lease and told them to F*@# OFF! I would never lease an apartment from a Steven D. Bell property!!!

All things considered, not too bad of a place.
Ok, ok. My original review may have been a bit harsh. I am re-writing it because my original review was written when I was still extremely steamed over being notified that my rent would go up $50-100 if I chose to renew my lease.

However, I do not take back my comments about the management. After I paid my rent early my second month, I certainly did receive a nasty letter saying that my rent was overdue two weeks into the month. On the offer to renew my lease, they did mistakenly write that our current rent rate was $50 higher than it is, and over to renew the lease at an increase of $50 (which, including their miscalculation, would actually be $100 more than we are currently paying). Talking to the management staff in person in generally is a pleasant experience with them appearing very friendly and professional, the problem is in the written communications I have received from them. They are usually based on an oversight on their part and nonetheless harshly toned.

The parking here is adequate. You won't be guaranteed a spot right by your apartment, but the farthest I have had to walk is maybe 30 yards, and the entire path is well-lit. There is ample parking for guests as well.

As far as the other tenants go, they seem to be quite primative to be able to afford apartments at this price. As I guess is common in apartment living, most of the tenants here could care less about being considerate. Teenagers congregate outside my window and talk loudly all hours of the night; anyone coming to pick up someone refuses to use a cell phone or walk their lazy behinds to the tenant's door, and instead blare their horns continuously; if you try to say hello to your neighbors they look at you as if you were insane; they drive on the wrong side of the road then have the nerve to look at you like you can't drive.

However, I have not noticed any blatant drug activity at this property, and most of the families here seem like decent hard-working people.

Now that I've calmed down after the rate hike I have to change my recommendation from NO to YES because after looking around and reading reviews of other properties in the area, this place doesn't seem so bad.

Nice apartments...................loud community!
The Marquis, I must say have a nice landscaping appeal to it, the apartment up keep is great. I have had no problems with the maintance of my apartment. I have stayed at least 3 years and never experience any kind of rodents, bugs, or anything in that nature in my apartment. As the years went by I notice that, the management changes like underwear, your utility bill always high due to the fact they have their on water billing system. Now they have gone up on rent, which I think is not worth the square footage of a one bedroom. Management seems very professional and caring, in my opinion. But I decided to move on, there are to many kids in the complex, loud music from cars passing by, and a course we have had a couple of car breakins this summer. Otherwise I would rate them at least a 3.5 on the scale
