I Love it here
I would recommend living at Ashmore Trace. After living in a house for over 20 years I was concerned about moving to an apartment, however, the town house I live in is a lot like a house. I love having a screen door. Not to say that there have not been some problems but you can get that in any apartment and with any management. Needless to say, that as an adult I know that communication is the key. Therefore, I contact management and have normally worked out the problem. I have review several of the comments listed below and can say in my almost 4 years here I have not experienced the problems mentioned in the other comments. Yes, sometimes on the weekends the dumpsters do get full but that is normally from tenants moving and dumping their old stuff. If I could say I have any complaint it would be wiht the number of inspections that I have had to go threw. I understand that management has a right to inspect their property but it can get nerve racking. Overall if I had to do it over again I would still move here.

Ashmore Trace is a Quality Place to call home
I lived at Asmore Trace for two years at 1023 Wallington Circle, and was more than pleased with the service. Weather it be any question or concerns that I had to talk to both ladies in the office. I never had any outstanding sevice requests, the maintenance staff was always punctual, and neat.As far as I am concerned Ashmore is definately on of the better Apartment complexes on the Southside...

Sucks
Maintinence people are unfriendly and pretty much fix things half way. Takes forever to get something done. Office manager just says what she thinks you want to hear and makes stupid mistakes and just says, "Oh well." Nobody cleans up around the trash dumpsters. Dogs and dog crap all over the place. Parking where I was was a nightmare. They won't let you park ina vacant carport so you have to park a half mile away. They pick on you about little crap all the time but never do anythiing about the major stuff. A lot of car break ins and vandalizm. Management just doesn't give a crap and neither does anybody else.

Glad to be leaving!
I just found this site the other day while in my search for another apartment. It looks like a great help to those who are looking! Ashmore Trace was originally Carriage House of Greenwood. It was built in the early 1970's. Water leaks, mice, ants, centipedes, spiders, and silver fish have been or are a recurring problem. Maintenance can be slow to react, promising to return to finish and never show up. Water leaks in apartments with washing machines have been a problem. They can be very cold in the winter. Air blows in around old patio doors and other places. There was a renovation done some years ago where all the apartments were redone with carpet, new cabinets, doors,....etc.. My "new" apartment was filthy when I moved in. I had to re-clean the stove, fridge, bathroom,....etc.. Foor tile work in the kitchen and bath was poorly done. Doors were poorly hung. Drywall, painting was poor. I had constant toilet leaks due to issues with how it sits on the pipe coming out of the floor. I had to install the deadbolt on my door myself because I couldn't get maintenance to come do it and I was tired of waiting. I also had to clean up the patio area because they wouldn't come do it like they were supposed to. I had weeds up to my knees! Workers dumped paint and other crap out there that I had to clean-up and there was rocks everywhere. Maintenance was plagued with problems caused by the work that was done so I tried to overlook these things. But I never so much as got a pat on the back for doing them! This was when the washer and dryer facilities were ADDED to some of the apartments. From all that I've heard, that was a very bad idea. Grounds are mostly nice and fairly well kept but grounds people don't seem very ambitious or knowledgeable in a lot of areas and don't seem to be well trained. Office staff is friendly but can be very slow to respond to various issues. The manager does not like confrontation or problems. Complain too much about anything and you're on her bad side real quick. If you keep your mouth shut and go with the flow you'll be just fine! Seems like all they care about anymore is how full the place is. It does stay pretty full but a lot of people coming in here seem to bring a lot of problems with them too. Police have been in a lot lately for various issues. There's been a recent rash of car break-ins. I guess you could find a lot of places worse than this. I've been looking around and I've seen some. That's just from a "looking out the car window" standpoint. But I guess what one person wrote is true. Looks can deceive. It does seem like most complexes have somewhat the same issues with slow maintenance and office staff, some worse than others. Since I've not been anywhere else I have nothing but my experience here to go on.

I would not recommend it!
My mother lived here for quite sometime. She was very happy for a long time until after they did a remodel and changed management. After that, she constantly had trouble with neighbors fighting, loud music, throwing trash on her patio, kids running around everywhere. Management was not very responsive. She also had a lot of trouble with water leaks from upstairs. It caused her a lot of headaches. Her dishwasher and toilet leaked several times and caused a big mess. Tile in the kitchen and bathroom was always coming up. Parking was bad. A lot of people had many cars and they all wanted to park in front of the building. They even parked in the handicap spots when they're not supposed to. Again, management was not very responsive. They just said that parking was first come first serve. She was very happy to leave. At one time I was going to move in here and I'm glad that I did not.

There are far better choices!!!!!
At first glance it looks like a nice place. But looks deceive. These buildings were built in the early 70's and even though there was a remodeling done they are still old buildings. The remodel seems to have been done very cheaply. It doesn't take long to figure that out. I don't think they spent a lot of money on materials! Paint is nothing but chalk dust! It comes off and marks up very easily! I had problems with electric, water leaks, carpet, tile coming up......etc... If you get a one or two bedroom apartment with a W/D hook-up I wish you luck! The pipes freeze in the winter and then you have a flood! Hell, there's floods even in the summer! It was a very poor design and I don't think the place has the plumbing to support it. Beware also of sewer back-ups and water main breaks! I also had what I know are carpenter ants in the outside walls and nothing was ever done even though I reported it. No one ever came to look. Parking is a pain! Many people have three and four vehicles and park them all up front of the building. The office just says parking is first come first serve. The kids play out in the parking lot around the cars and nobody ever does anything. My car got scratched up by a kids bike twice! There are a lot of teenage/early 20's people around too. Sometimes they just hang out in the parking lot or on the front steps. They won't move for you and they leave trash and cigarette butts all over the place. I know this can happen anywhere but some of these people were kind of scary. People hang out all hours of the night! I know someone who's tires were slashed and her car was broken into twice! Maintenance is questionable. Sometimes they seem to know what they're doing and other times not so much. I did many things myself just because I didn't want to hassle with them. They put out water sprinklers that pepper your car with nasty hard water and think it's no big deal! Be careful if you walk around the grounds! You may want to have other shoes and mace available! They allow large dogs and they're all over the place! They don't usually run lose but people just don't clean up after them. I've seen pitbulls too and they are not supposed to have them. Office staff was nice but I don't really know why they have an assistant property manager. On several occasions she told me that I had to speak to the manager. These weren't difficult questions. The manager was gone and I had to wait over a week! What good is an assistant if they can't do anything but show apartments, take maintenance requests, and answer the phone, especially when the manager is away? The manager seemed a little meek too me. I got the impression that she didn't like to hear about problems. Isn't that just part of the job? All in all, it was not a pleasant experiance. I know that one of the main attractions is that they include all your utilities. But I think you can find better alternatives even if you have to pay a utility bill.
