Why not let it be your next home
A lot of amenities for the kids and dogs. Like a park, dog park, and two pools. Management and leasing agent always there to help you. 24 hour maintenance! Close to Jardine elementary and middle school. Walking distance to shunga trail.

I’ve lived at Misty Glen for over three years and have finally decided it’s time to relocate. During the three years, management has changed three times. Each new management is less friendly and professional than the last. There are three employees that sit in the office all day. They appear to have no interest in being on the grounds or being kind when a tenant walks in. I miss the days of friendly service and staff. The old Misty Glen was home and that feeling is gone. It is sad to see a community decline in du h a short span of time.

Among all the places I lived, this place was Hell during my whole tenancy. Staff gave me "till Friday" to submit an application for a unit that I toured but rented the unit to someone else before Friday. I rented another unit. They didn't give my friend the referral bonus. During my tenancy, i called maintenance for AC at least 7 times. I spent this summer without proper cooling. They boast how they have 24/7 maintenance but they decide what constitutes urgent and wont fix issues on time. They have "club house" which is locked and you have to rent it, not open to tenants. Units have large spiders, especially in basement, I wouldn't put a nice W/D there or don't take it with you at moveout. AC units are old and you can hear your neighbor's compressor at nites. Units near the creek gets the most bugs and even a snake. My toddler found a snake in living room but they wouldnt come to remove it. Units by the creek are older units, nonrenovated with old appliance, old carpet and lousy ceiling repair. During really rainy days, roofs leak and basements flood. Finally, both offfice staff are rude, condescending, unprofessional but Tanya is the worse. She tries to run over tenants and if you speak out, she threatens you with eviction or nonrenewal. Misty Glen's worst part is its office staff and manager. Positive impression: Units are large, comes with basement and assigned parking

This is a GREAT place to live! The staff is wonderful!! They are always there to help if I need something. The manager Rhonda is always kind and courteous and she has been there 33 years! Rhonda has a great attitude to all the residents! The assistant manager, Julie is AMAZING! Julie and Rhonda work very well together and are both very helpful!! The grounds are always in perfect shape thanks to Roxy! She does a great job rain or shine, hot or cold climate! Its always well maintained!! Penny, Andy and Matt are excellent at their jobs! If there is ever a problem, it is addressed that day! They just put brand new roofing on EVERY building!!! For town homes and apartments that have been in Topeka since 1969-70, they are built to last! The sound proofing is amazing! I never hear my neighbors on either side of me! The wooded area behind me is very well kept and I love the Mist Glen Nature Trail in the summer! Two giant pools and two clubhouses...excellent!!! If you are looking for a place to live, this is it! Come on in...the water is warm and perfect!!!! Thanks, Misty Glen!

I have lived in Misty Glen Apts several times throughout my life. Both as a kid and now as an adult, I can say from both perspectives, this is one of the best apts you can rent. Staff is always friendly, when I'm walking the grounds they will wave to me and remember who I am. The office staff is always friendly and welcoming and always up for a quick chat to catch up on you. They take care of the maintenance quickly and efficiently.

Great place to live. The staff is always there to help. The clubhouses are available for parties. You have lots of space and a yard like a house, but with a staff to take care of the pools, yard, clean gutters, fix heat, ac, clogged drains, everything! Very happy!

I love it here. We have been here 6 years with only the usual upkeep issues. Landscaping is nicely maintained. The 2 pools are immaculate. I recommend Misty Glen for families especially. There is a nice shady playground and wooded walking trails. Best complex I've ever lived in.

DO NOT RENT HERE!! The management are a bunch of phony employees and the maintenance guys are on drugs. The townhomes are a bunch of crap that fall apart. The repairs they do are "Band aid" repairs. They paint over mold and have a HUGE rodent problem. We have called SEVERAL times about mice and they just take the cheap way out and stuff holes with wire and glue traps. The ceilings and floor boards are moldy and they just keep painting over it. It eventually started falling apart onto our kids floor. They have so many rules that u r not aware of until u sign ur lease. The police are always here arresting people and monitoring the area since there are so many car break ins and criminals. There was a shooting here a year ago which isn't surprising since they rent to trash now. if you have a family THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU!!!!

ROACHES. If that's not enough for you to look elsewhere, the unprofessional staff will help. Very fake and ingenuous. They will put on the best act for you before you sign a lease and then try less and less to keep it up throughout your lease term. Maintenance was very good at getting to our problems, but not at fixing them. Hopefully you don't like your screen door on your sliding glass door too much. It will fall of and stay off for 12 months. Also if you enjoy sleeping past 5 am, look somewhere else. They think its fun to mow the grass at 5 am. And they will occasionally move your patio furniture to do so and not move it back. My patio furniture was on my neighbor's patio one time. Very nice, thought someone had stolen it. Shootings in the neighborhood recently, which is so sad because its just within the complex. The surrounding neighborhood is very nice, but remember you're not living in the surrounding neighborhood, you're living in the complex where the bad stuff is happening. At the end of our lease during our walk through, they found any little thing to charge us for. And we had cleaned the place to what we considered better than it was before we moved in. Upon finding out about these charges and questioning them, Rhonda or whatever her name is, turned completely unprofessional, arguing with us and such. No idea how she still has a job. Called upper management afterwards which helped with some of the ridiculous charges they were trying to make us pay. If after all of this you decide to stay, take before pictures when you move in.

There's a lot of convicted murderers and child molesters running around these neighborhoods. Sure if you want your kids running around criminals like that move right in. If you're not white trash like the majority who reside in these townhouses you will be singled out. There's also a lot of drug use and they do allow section 8. Move in at your own risk.

2 thumbs down!!
These people will kiss you butt and tell you everything you want to hear to get you to sign a lease. DONT DO IT... The 2 office ladies are SO fake. They pretend to be nice but they are really 2 of the rudest people I have ever dealt with, especially Rhonda. I loved the lay out of the townhome. Lots of space. But it was way too noisy for a sleeping baby. You can can smell smoke thru the walls. Gross. I could have lived with a few problems but the managements overall attitude was enough for me. I'm so done with these people and should have listened to people that told me not to move in. Hope you dont regret it too!!

Don't live here and waste your money
I have lived here for quite a few years. Moving out this year though. You can hear your neighbors on both sides of the townhouse. Maintenance is okay; I usually have a good friend of mine fix things so I know it will be fixed and not with a bandaid. The office manager, Rhonda is rude and known to be crazy. You can tell when you first meet her. She's unreasonable and difficult to deal with so I usually talk to kirsten. (And yes, the neighbors agree with me.) We are trying to figure out how she keeps her job; she must be family. The rent is high for this area, we are near a school, so you have unruly kids running the neighborhood and breaking into cars. Nothing special about this place, my advice, go somewhere else. If you have questions, place a response.

Not bad at all
The one bedroom apartments are 735 square feet, which is a nice size for the price. I have all new appliances and carpet, but I've heard that not all the apartments do. If you move here, make sure you get a unit with new miniblinds and not the weird, old curtain things. It is an older place and some things have broken, but maintenance comes quickly. I had a problem with my electricity sparking and the repair guy was there to fix it less than 10 minutes after I called. The worst thing about this place is the single pane, metal windows. They don't keep in heat and gather a lot of condensation. There are also a lot of kids running around, so it's not always quiet unless you live on the edge of the complex. The location seems very safe and the surrounding neighborhood is very nice, with lots of good sidewalks if you like to take walks. I haven't really had any problems with Misty Glen.

Fake
I only lived here for a short while, but am ok to move out. Yes the management is nice at first, but its fake, the longer we lived here the ruder she got. They complain about little things, like I have 3 small children who can make noise. We have a grumpy older lady for a neighbor who complains during the summer when we have our windows open that she can hear our noise. And because of the 2 complaints she has giving the management they don't want us to live her, even though the neighbors on the other side of us say they have no problem with us. There are little kids that run the neighbor hood, stand in the streets, mess with stuff in your tiny little back yard. There are people who make noises all hours of the night, sometimes its messing with their cars. There are a lot of people with car stereos that will shake my windows at all hours. A lot of drugs going on around. And nothing is done about that. The pools are dirty. I will give them this they do take care of the grounds pretty good. Oh and they say no pets but everyone has them, and they go the bathroom where ever, and there are a couple cats that run the neighbor hood. The hot water often doesn't work. Good things about the place is the space is nice, good size laundry room, but kitchen is horrible. If I were you I would only move here if you don't have kids and are a quiet person.

Spiders!!!
Unless you love spiders, don't live here. These apartments have a terrible spider problem and their solution is giving me sticky traps. I can't tell you how many spiders I have killed, and they were really big too. Also, the layout is wierd and I had to get my couch in through the patio doors...good luck if you live on the second floor! The only good thing about these apartments is the maintenence staff. They are great at handling problems in a timely manner.

Okay aparment, until flood disaster.
I moved into a 1 bedroom aparment back in November of 2006 and thought this would be a decent place to live. For the most part is was quiet and peaceful, plus I had very little problems during my initial four months of living there. However, after the fifth month I lived there, an upstairs neighbor moved in and I could hear ever foot step he took. It sounded like an elephant walking and the funny thing is the guy who moved in wasn't a big guy at all. There is poor sound insulation between the different floors and walls which made having a peaceful evening after a day of work almost impossible. Then after 6 months of living their, the apartment was flooded by the nearby Shunga Creek which also caused the parking lot to be flooded and caused my car to be completely ruined. To give you an idea how badly, the parking lots water was waist deep for me and the apartments got a little over 1 inch of water in them soaking the carpets. It was a horrible situation and the management wasn't sure what to do. After a week of being without my apartment, I contacted the management and they said the apartment was ready to be moved into. However, when I inspected the apartment, it was horrible. Not only was the carpet unfinished, but their where still water marks from the flood, the toilet was clogged because of the flood, and the kitchen and bathroom flooring was covered in dirt/debris that the flood waters washed in. On top of that, the place smells moldy and carpet that was taken out of the apartment and was piled into back patio where it still remains as I write this review. The only good thing that came out of this incident is that they allowed me to occupy a vacant upstairs apartment after the flood occurred (that's the only good thing the management did for me). Now heres the real kicker, the management didn't know that my apartment wasn't completely done as far as the carpet goes, plus they said they where leaving it up to the residents to clean up the carpets and flooring after the new carpet was installed. The reason for it was that they didn't have flood insurance and were trying to be both cheap and lazy. The flood was bad enough, but the management here has screwed everyone over who was affected by the flood. Now I have to find a new place to live or end of paying hundreds to deodorize my apartment and keep it clean enough to live in. Plus they may raise rent over this flood disaster to recover some loss in money due to the flood.

Decent but could make improvements
I would overall recommend Misty Glen. I live in a 2 bedroom townhome and it offers quite a large amount of space. Management is helpful and works with you if you have any concerns.

There are however a few issues. They have a bad mice problem in the outerlying buildings due to the shunga creek behind it. However they do bring in people to take care of it so at least they aren't trying to ignore the issue.

Another concern for me is how small the kitchens are. I live here with my husband and 2 young kids and so we buy a lot of groceries. I sometimes am unable to put away everything because the kitchen is so tiny. I have had to actually buy a seperate freezer to put in the basement and also am putting up shelving in the basement just for food.

Also some of the buildings don't have grass in the back patio area. The way the buildings are built it blocks the sun out and so some areas have lush grass and others have nothing but dirt. With 2 young kids this is a concern as they can't really play well out there.

Overall though I would recommend it.

Very nice place to call home
I lived in Misty Glen for just over five years and never had a problem. The office and maintenance staff were always nice and helpful and always on time with what they promised.
I only left when I got married and we bought a house not even three blocks away. The neighborhood is safe and beautiful.

Pretty Good Place
I lived at Misty Glen for two years in one of their townhouses. The price was pretty good, compared to many other two bedroom apartments in Topeka, and the townhouses offer so much more space. I can't vouch for their apartments, but now that I live elsewhere, I really miss all of the room that I used to have in the three floored townhouses.

The staff were always very friendly and helpful.

Parking never seemed to be a problem, because there were two assigned spots for each townhouse and other parking available.

One of my favorite things about Misty Glen was that it offers two pools, and each is fairly large.

I really only had two problems while I lived there. The the first big problem I had was the spiders. The spiders were there from day one until the day I moved out. Some days, I thought about charging the spiders rent. The second problem was that, although the basement and main floor were well heated/cooled, the rooms on the top floor were stuffy and didn't cool/heat well.

Overall, I'd recommend Misty Glen.

Neighborhood going down
The good news is the management is very friendly, helpful, and they are working to bring all the apartments up to modern standards. Problems were resolved quickly. However, crime is becoming a problem in the neighborhood, as it is through all of Topeka. I did not feel safe there and was the victim of a crime in the neighborhood. If not for the neighborhood and some of the neighbors, I would still be there.
