New Managment
It's a mediocre community that I Lived in for 4 years due to location and needed to move to a 2bdrm from a 3 and was treated like I was an undesirable tenet. I was never late once on rent, no complaints, ever and to be talked to in the manor the manager talked to me made me look at other communities and move out. I also have neighbors who are also moving because of the new management...very unprofessional, unorganized and disrespectful. They never want to replace carpet and when I moved in the dining and bedroom areas smelled of pet urin..I would shampoo monthly to eliminate the smell and used plug in's...had a few leaks here and there and caused kitchen floor to buckle and main bath to begin to mold but they did nothing about it...cheap,lazy and disrespectful pretty much sums up this experience for me.

Would not recommend for the money
I live here currently and can not wait to get out. This is by far not the worst place to live but there are better options. I have lived here for a year upon move in the lady who showed me our apartment said our deck was going to be fixed within a month of move in,9 months have past and has yet to happen.Management is horrible work orders take days to be finished. And the gym and pool are a joke. The Gym has only one working peice of equiptment which is a tredmill that is from the 1980's. And the pool is full of teenagers that do not live in the community they climb over the fence and get into the pool to do inappropriate things....... I had my neices up in june and needless to say I am very disappointed in the management.I would not recommend this community to anyone!

A Home I'm sad to leave
I have lived at the Crossings for 6 1/2 years and will be relocating soon. I hate leaving the Crossings. My experience has been great. In fact, in looking for a new place in another city has been challenging since the Crossings has set the bar so high. I will miss the Crossings.

Review based from my apartment tour
I called during normal business hours to ask about the apartments. Since there was no answer, I left a message with my name, phone number and reason why I was calling, and I asked if someone could return my call for more info. I did not get a callback after 24 hours later so I sent an email through the company's website requesting more information on an available first floor two bedroom apartment - NO REPLY WHATSOEVER! Because there is NOT a whole lot of apartments with great ratings from here and The Crossings of Oakbrook does, I figured it's worth putting much more effort into getting a hold of somebody from here. So I asked my husband to call, and luckily he spoke with someone from the rental office who told us there are plenty of available lower level 2 bedroom apartments for mid January. A couple of days later, we drove to Burlington, KY from Northeast Ohio(at least 300 miles) to tour the apartment complex. When we arrived at the rental office, the person my husband talked to wasn't there and the one who was working that day just got back from being off for a few days. She told us that there was only ONE AVAILABLE first floor 2 bedroom apartment. After giving her some personal info, she took us to see it. We waited outside the apartment for a few minutes because she grabbed the wrong key, so we were able to inspect the outside of the apartment. It was AWFUL. The sidings were very dirty. The sidings from the back porch had some brown stuff all over it, which looked like either splattered poop or puked bbq sauce. The front door looked like it needed replaced because it would cost so much on heating/cooling bill. I asked her when she got back if this was move-in ready and she said YES. There was nothing special on the inside. The master bedroom was pretty small for me since we have a king size bed and I can't fit anymore in it. The second bedroom was a little bit bigger than the master. The bathrooms were small as well, and so as the kitchen. I did like the dining area because of the windows. I was very disappointed. It didn't look anything like the pictures nor how I pictured it would look like from the comments and recommendations. In spite of the racquetball court, I just could not see myself living at The Crossings of Oakbrook.

My first week at my new home
I live on the bottom floor. Noise level: Very quiet! Layout is setup in such a way where the balcony and patios are away from the bedrooms on the opposite ends Staff: Very nice and helpful Grounds: Tasteful with lots of trees Parking: first come first serve, adequate Windows: Three in the front and five in the back which gives a straight through breeze. My carpet had a few stains and my screens need replacing but that is a given with today's society.

The Crossings; not a good idea
I have been living in The Crossings since May and have one thing happen after another. I have had bug problems as well as maintenance issues. My thermostat has been incorrect leaving with higher bills. Also, my dishwasher has never worked right. They have come to fix it a couple of times, however, there is no change. I normally have to do the dishes by hand to make sure that they are actually being cleaned. I did not feel safe there either. After one weird situation taking garbage to the dumpster, I finally decided that I could only take my garbage out when it is light out. Another issue that I have is that I recently had to break my lease. This was due to the economy and having hours cut. Let's just say that compasion is not in their vocabulary. I would not recommend these apartments to anyone. They look nice in photos and when you walk through, but once you have lived there, you know that this is not the case. It's all just smoke and mirrors.

No Complaints Here :)
I have lived here for over a year now and I Love it! The managers are Super nice, and yes they know me by name and are always friendly, and the maintenance guys are quick and efficient. I have put in two or three maintenance request over the past year I've lived here and they have fixed the problems within hours and let no mess. The only annoying thing would be some loud neighbors and people not picking up dog poop outside in the grass. The managers are the big reason I will renew my lease this year, because I know they will treat me right.

Great place to live!!!
I have been living here for two years, and I am happier here than I have been in the six years I have lived in this area. I have recommended The Crossings to many of my friends and even to my employer as a solution for recruits who were moving to this area and I believe that they now lease corporate apartments at The Crossings. The location is incredible. Everything you need is within walking distance; grocery, library, restaurants, tanning, nails, bank, I could go on. The location is second only to the staff. Both office staff and maintenance staff goes above and beyond-they make it a point to know us by name. Not to mention that paying rent or maintenance requests are made simple with an online hub-I had an issue with a clogged drain recently, I went online with my request, not an emergency, and maintenance was at my door the same day, less than two hours.

CHEAP AND LAZY
When I moved in here, I complained about a pet urine smell in one of the bedrooms. They did everything they could other than replace the carpet. I finally had to put two plug in air fresheners in the room to even tolerate the smell. I told the office staff that the room still stunk and that I had to put air fresheners there. No response. When I moved out, my furniture smells like pet urine!! They won't do anything about it, of course. Not that I really expected them to do anything for me now that I'm moving out, considering that they wouldn't do anything about it when I lived there!

Excellent location and value
I have lived here since April 2007 and have no complaints. The office staff has changed since I have been here and that is certainly an improvement. They are very friendly and have taken the effort to learn me by my first name, which is a nice change from other places I have lived in. I have made three maintenance requests (toilet flapper, new thermostat, and structural repair) and they have been very prompt, efficient, and haven't left any mess behind. The maintenance staff are very friendly as well, and if you are there while they are working you don't feel like you have a skeezy weird guy in your house. The construction is good, you can't hear your neighbors through the walls or hear their dogs barking; you don't feel like you're rattling your neighbor's ceiling if you jump on the floor...The rent is a good value in my opinion; my one-bedroom is 750 sq. ft. for $605/mo, and they will give you a $15 discount with proof of renter's insurance. Pet deposit is $200 I think and pet rent is $15/mo. They have breed and size restrictions, no de-clawing requirements though. You can easily walk to Kroger, Walgreens, Dollar Tree, and a good variety of fast food restaurants... a UDF gas station, dry cleaners, Blockbuster, hair and tanning salons are all close by. There is a great public library across the road as well, and the apartment is located at the head of the Oakbrook community, a quiet, established community with a 2 mile paved walking trail. The only things I would consider a drawback are: *The appliances are not up-to-date, probably from the early '90s, which is fine but my previous apartment spoiled me with brand new Whirlpool appliances. *The only security on the door is the deadbolt, which again, I was spoiled at an old apartment with a keypad security system, but truthfully you should feel very safe here. The one-bedroom side of the community is mostly young couples, divorcees, and single professionals. It's pretty quiet, although I can't speak for the two-bedroom side of the community. *The "fitness room" leaves much Much MUCH to be desired... they only recently added a second working treadmill, have two bicycles that don't work well if at all, and a weight station. *The closest outgoing mailbox is across the street and is picked up at 10:45. Considering that most mailboxes have a outgoing mail slot, this is a HUGE inconvenience to me.

Great place to live!
I moved in a little over a month ago and so far, so good. I love living here! The office staff is very friendly, even making a point to introduce themselves by first name and learn mine. I am greeted by name now when I go into the office. My apartment had a few issues upon taking possession, but all issues were immediately corrected the day I notified the office of them. It can be difficult to find a parking space when you arrive home late on the weekends, but the rest of the time, there is not a problem. Even on the weekends, you can always find a spot, it just isn't always in front of your own building. I highly recommend this community to anyone who wants a safe, quiet, friendly place to live!

Very nice place to live!
While no apartment is going to be perfect, I have nothing but good things to say about the Crossings. I've lived here for 2.5 years, and aside from a few minor (and one major) maintenance issue - all of which were fixed the same day - I have never had a problem. My apartment is spacious and very attractive, with no mold, no infestations, no allergens. The buildings are 20 years old, but my unit looks brand new. My appliances all work - the stove/range is fantastic! There is usually parking available close, except sometimes very late at night (which is understandable). My neighbors are all quiet and friendly and respectful of others, and I feel perfectly safe here. The office staff is friendly, although sometimes hard to reach (I feel they are understaffed). The location is ideal - it feels cozy and isolated, but it's just minutes from everything you need. In response to other negative reviews, I wonder if people have unrealistic expectations, or if perhaps they are simply overly negative. For me, the Crossings has been nothing but a pleasure since I've been here, and I will go on living here!

Management is horrible
Moved to Crossings for 1 year and it was a very long year. The office staff does not have a clue! They do not inform you of anything, you have to figure it out on your own. (Where the dumpster is, water bills, rent amount...)

On five, yes five, separate occasions I went to drop off rent to the office. Each time I handed the check to the same guy, he just stared at me. I had to say "this is rent....again" "Oh,okay." This is the response I got.

There is only 1 dumpster and it's right next to the office, terrible location (never told us where it was). I'm not an idiot, the dumpster is hidden fairly well. Most of the time garbage is overflowing onto the walkways so the smell gives away the location.

The apartment carpet was ripped and the windows barely opened.

Pros: Nice size apartment.

Cons: Management, dumpster upkeep, windows.

Figure out the following yourself at Crossings:

1) Where the dumpster is
2) Water bill
3) When your rent discount ends
4) When rent is due or late (I was never late)
5) Policy on grills

New Management is not good
I've been living here from the past 2 years and with the previous management I never had a problem but with the new management, YES...there is a problem with the response time and taking your calls, most of the time your call goes to a high pitch male voice answering machine...I have to say they should try to provide a better service, not a better service when collecting your rent on time...apart from that the place a nice place to live.
