Great Apartment, I would do it again!
I lived in this second floor apartment for three years while in school.

Pros: Great layout!! The stairs were in my apartment which imparted a nice feel to the place. I loved the balcony, spacious and there was a large tree in front of it giving it a quaint feel and giving me some privacy from the open courtyard. The management is great, they are a husband and wife team and gives the place a real "mom and pop" feel. Very attentive and hard working staff. Great walk in closet! If you like Tennis they have a great new tennis court installed in 2002. Parking is pretty good, you don´t have your own spot but I was able to see my car from my kitchen window making me feel pretty safe.

Cons: No Pets allowed. Even though some do have pets. Heat can be VERY EXPENSIVE! You have to pay for hot water, heat and stove work on eletricity too. During the winter it is not uncommon to have an electricity bill over $100. Also, the heat is compartmentalized, so you have to adjust the heat in each room. To save money I would only leave the heat on in the bedroom at night. By morning, the rest of the apartment was bone chilling cold. Have you ever applied skin to a freezing toilet seat? Not a very good feeling! The walls are very thin! You can almost hear anything from the apartment below. I visited some first floor apartments and you can hear every step of the person upstairs, so I can imagine what the neighbors below heard from me. Of course my female friends would get a little loud and shake the bed a little too much!Three neighbors lived below me, one moved out because I was too loud (I do play some loud music but considerately none after 11pm and up at all hours of the night studying). The next neighbor believed in domestic violence and often woke me up at 8 in the morning with some slapping and yelling. The last neighbor was an Indian couple, and every night I would hear them shout in a foreign language and smell their curry in my kitchen and bathroom.

My Suggestion: Great place to live, but since the ceiling/floor is so thin just hope you have some good neighbors! The heating and electricity issue are not laughing matters but seems to be the standard of rental communities in Piscataway. Good luck

Great Service
I´ve been very pleased with living at Birchview Gardens. Whenever something breaks they are prompt to fix problems the same day. The grounds are well-kept and the tenants are generally nice.
