I give this residence 5 stars. The staff and management go above and beyond to ensure it's residence experience quality living. The Community Manager, Mr. Corey Widden was extremely helpful, personable, and went out of his way to make my first time at Hathaway House a memorable one. I felt like I was in good hands from start to finish during the tour. I would like to personally thank the staff and management for all their hardwork and due diligence in providing their residents with a clean and well established multi-family community. Thank you.

I've had the privilege of living at Hathaway House for the past year and I have enjoyed the experience. The people here as well as the staff make this high rise apartment very comfortable to live in. I live in a 500 sq ft studio on the 14th floor. My apartment has a great view of downtown center city which is even better at night. The leasing consultant and building manager here have always treated me with nothing but the most utmost kindness and respect. I work as a flight attendant and have to come and go at weird hours and am always greeted by a friendly security person. The neighborhood is relatively safe and public transportation makes it easy to get around as the train station as well as several bus stops are all down the street. I know this review sounds too good to be true, but I truly have never had an issue living here. Believe me, if I did, I would say so. I would definitely recommend this place to anymore looking for a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with friendly neighbors, great maintenance, and clean interiors.

I have lived at Hathaway House for 5 years and management, security, and maintenance have always been responsive, kind, and competent. Every time I had maintenance problem, the problem was fixed the first time. However, I have not had many maintenance problems. I feel safe at Hathaway House. Whether it is a package in the mail, leaving for vacation, or the general building security, I know I am in good hands. Management have always listened to my comments and suggestions and they try their best to accommodate them. I feel welcome in the office. They is a community at Hathaway House. People and staff live together and get to know one another. Hathaway House really has a "home" feel to it.

Maintenance is horrible. Security guards (most) are rude and annoyed to help you. Moving out the day my lease is over.

Unfortunately, what I call Phila syndrome finally reached Hathaway house (though it still keeps many good traditions). Mice and roaches begin their migration season somewhere in summer when post-grads move out and in. Fobs, elevators, dryers, washers, water and power supply get out of order on regular basis. At that maintenance is getting more and more reluctant to perform their duties. Parking lot is absolutely not sufficient. Smaller windows (not balcony ones) are dirty and have seen better days. Meanwhile, as you can guess, the rent is raised promptly. Though everybody remains polite and put up a good front.

The pictures of the lobby does not do it justice. It has been renovated and is beautiful. I have reviewed Hathway House in the past when I lived here, and must say this go around it is even better. I transfer in and out of Philadelphia with my job and each time I rent from Hathway House. My apartment is a nice size one bedroom. The drawback is the carpet should be replaced. It was not newly installed when I moved in and was told by maintenance I had to wait another year before it's replaced. There is a new gym on the first floor for the residents. The grounds are very well maintained. It is secured which is priority for me,alone with no bugs, mice or rodents. If I had to return to Philadelphia again I would rent at Hathaway House!

"HOME SWEET HOME"....aka....The Hathaway House Apartments of Historic Germantown bordering East Falls! Kudos to the Hathaway House management who are "resident friendly", flexible and accommodating. My husband and I recently moved into the Hathaway House, after "downsizing", and found the Hathaway House an extension of our former home. I first heard about the Hathaway House Apartments through a relative who lived at Hathaway for many, many years. One of the many assets of this apartment complex, is that many of their employees have worked at the Hathaway for twenty years or more, which gives you a sense of security and safety. There is always someone at the desk, with a security monitoring system that is able to see every area of the apartment facility 24 hours a day! Neat, clean and "QUIET", and an "eclectic" array of residents makes this the number one place to live!

I have been a resident at Hathaway House for almost 7 years now. It has been a great place to live and I have little to complain about. I have a 1 bedroom deluxe which has plenty of living space for the price. In my time here, I have had zero pest problems. The building is secure with locked doors so there are never unwelcomed strangers inside. There is a doorman around the clock who can pick up packages received while I'm out which I love and they are all very friendly. Rent and maintenance request can all be handled online which is convenient and the maintenance staff is very responsive, responding within 24-48 hours. The front office has always been helpful in my interactions with them. The apartments are pretty well isolated sound wise and I rarely hear any of the neighbors. This apartment only accepts graduate students or older so there are no college kids running around causing a raucous which I appreciate. There is a pool on the roof and you have the option of a parking garage for a separate fee. Also, there is basement storage which is awesome but the apartments were definitely built with storage in mind as the closet space is great. Now the complex is being wired for FIOS if that's something you're interested in as well. What don't I like? More annoyances and certainly no deal breakers but...parking in the off street lot can be difficult after hours due to the limited space. Usually not a problem but very frustrating when it is. There usually is parking nearby though. I would love to park in the garage but the separate monthly fee is just too steep for me. I can't complain though since that is more of a luxury item than a necessity. Washers/Dryers are not in individual apartments but has 1 set per floor which usually works out but can be frustrating when you're competing to do laundry. Really not much else to point out. I would highly recommend this apartment complex to anyone looking for a good, quiet place to live.

Loved this place!!
I lived there for a year, and moved for a job....But I loved this place. The view was great, the neighbors were nice and quiet, and the elevators and facilities always worked. The building is a mix of graduate students young professionals and older retired or soon to retire. No repeat NO undergrads... and that helped to keep the place nice. The pool on the roof was a nice touch. I had a large one bedroom and I had more than enough room for myself and later my girlfriend (close to 1000 sq feet). The staff was knowledgeable and very receptive. Repairs were made within 24 hours, with a note always left if they entered your apartment. The security, while not stopping an armed party, kept the place nice, with few to no non expected residents allowed in. Parking was great and reasonable. Indoor parking was perfect! There was 24 hour video surveillance with great lighting. The only thing that i would have added was a work out center or gym. Other than that you won't regret moving here.

Great apartment building!
I had an excellent experience at Hathaway House. I only moved purely based on location. I always felt safe, never had a pest problem, maintenance was fast to respond, the office staff was phenomenal, I had friendly neighbors, my apartment was large with huge closets and a balcony. Parking is not great - there isn't enough and it's not guaranteed, but that is literally the only negative aspect that I experienced.

highly recommended
So far so good. Maintenance is responsive and quick. Had a few minor maintenance requests and those were taken care of immediately. Staff and security have been helpful and courteous. The property itself is clean, well-kept and overall professional. The parking is well-lit and pretty safe. The security guards keep a pretty close eye on the cameras at all times. Rent is a tiny bit higher than most places in the area but then again, my wife and I don't mind paying the few extra bucks each month for the quality that we have seen so far. This is better than most places we've seen so far in the area. Will write another review when our lease is up.

So far okay
This place is much better than my last place, noise-wise, but I can still hear my neighbors, which I expect to an extent. Unfortunately, bcz I have a corner apartment, I can hear everyone pee-ing. My next door neighbor's bathroom seems to share a wall with my dining area; not fun listening to someone pee while you eat :-p Also, my other neighbor is hard of hearing and plays her TV beyond loud- I can hear it throughout my apt. I'm apparently not the only one with this issue as I witnessed another young man fruitlessly begging his neighbor (different person) to please turn her TV down so that he might get some sleep. The whole exchange was quite hilarious. Anyway, I agree with pretty much everything else everyone said; it is a great place to live. Plus you can pay your rent online. But I've never lived in a place where I could hear so many people going to the bathroom ( a sound punctuated by the slamming toilet seats) which kind of grosses me out. Other than that, no complaints.

Great place to be!
I've been living here for a few months and absolutely love it. I have been helping a friend find housing in Philadelphia and can say that very few places can compare to the quality and pricing found at Hathaway House. I love my balcony and the view that comes with it and will find it hard to give up. I especially love that this place caters to graduate students and up...very few worries about noisy parties and immature residents. The rooms are spacious and the appliances in my apartment were recently upgraded. The people who work in the building are extremely friendly and approachable ..they'll know who you are in no time. The pool is gorgeous however I haven't used it much, especially since we're in the winter season. The building grounds and inside the building are always clean and neat. They do a very good job of updating tenants about work that will be done or when policies change. The location is close to Germantown avenue for boutique shopping and is 10 minutes away from center city. Main street Manayunk (tons of bars and little shops) is about 5 minutes away. The regional rail (R8) is very close by...I've walked there numerous times to get into the city when I didn't feel like driving. I have only had one minor problem with my apartment and they were quick to respond. I haven't had any bug problems and thank goodness I haven't seen any rodents. Cons: Each floor has one washer/dryer to share. I wish the apartments had individual washer/dryer units. I seldom have a problem catching the ones on my floor open but I've had one too many inconveniences. Plus, you have to pay $1.50 for each use using a card that has to be recharged by a machine that only accepts 5s,10s, and 20s. I would be nice to have your own washer/dryer or to have an open washer/dryer system that allows any resident with a resident card to use the washer/dryers without paying for each use. I've seen such systems in action and they are so much more convenient. There's no gym!!!! It would be great if they expanded their facilities a bit to include a gym The parking area is small. I very rarely have a problem finding parking but if you arrive later in the evening, it may be difficult to find a spot. ( There is FREE outdoor parking though so that is a definite plus) The area immediately surrounding the building is fine however a couple blocks down, it begins to change. Therefore I would caution against walking alone late at night due to the relative proximity of a more dangerous area. That being said, I have never felt unsafe walking from the parking lot to the building (plus, there are surveillance cameras around the building) All in all, I'm very happy with my choice to stay here and although it's still early to say so, I will most likely renew my lease for an additional year. I originally wanted to live in center city but again, it's just nearly impossible to find affordable apartments (I am a grad student living off of loans) that match Hathaway's quality.

nice place to be
I've been here for about 3 years and have barely had any issues. I have had a few college students with loud parties, even some non college students, but the guys in the lobby handle that pretty quick. They just upgraded the washers and dryers.Housekeeping starts early in the morning, vaccuming all the floors and elevators. I must admit, maintanence is much faster and efficient since the change in people. All of the doormen are kind and look out for the tenents. I've tried to leave two times but can't find another apt that is better,I've found a couple that come close yet they don't have balconies nor a pool. The only flaw or shall I say pain about Hathaway is the parking. When there are 2 people in an apt and both have cars, one should have to pay to park in the garage instead of both taking up spots on the lot.Though the neighborhood is nice, coming home after 3am and having to find a spot to park on a side street(there have been times when Stafford and Price are packed)isn't safe.

LOVE IT
We have been living here for about 2 years and will be living soon due to our new job out of the town. We really love the place. This is the best place we ever lived. Very nice management- Nicole- she responds to every single problems very efficient. Maintenance is just great- 2 guys- they are better than each other in any way responding to every problems in units. Ray is a very responsible supertenant working very hard at the lobby.... We consider ourselves very lucky that we got the chance to live here... with no reservation, we would recommend everyone to live here...

its better than most in the neighborhood
Pros: spacious apts. great views. dishwashers, balconies, washer and dryer on each floor, incinerator room on each floor, pool, plenty of closet space, accepts cats. Close to the drive, 2 train stations, gas station, fast food, expressway.indoor and outdoor parking. Only entrance is by intercom.

Cons: ignorant college students are allowed to rent there.they should have their own floors. If one dares to have a party, you shall here it from the hallway and apt. They will ruin your laundry after you've waited 3 hours for them to remove their clothes from the washer. They will also just leave trash bags outside the incinerator instead of easily putting them in the shoot. There's nothing you can do about it either. If the neighbor in the apt above has no carpeting you will hear foots steps and chair scraping. Only 1 washer and 1 dryer on each floor to be split between 10 apts.Maintanence doesn't fullfill all duties. Many of us are waiting for things to be fixed from last year and they aren't major. Maybe thats why they refuse to handle them.Outdoor parking is free. Indoor parking has a fee. Last time I checked it was 65$ a month. Walls aren't paperthin but thin enough. I could actually hear my next door neighbor talking to her roommate in their bathroom while I was in my bathroom. Though you HAVE to buzz your guests in for them to even enter the building, they have to sign a log in sheet with the doorman.

Compared to the Blythewood which I am very familiar with, this place is 5x's better.
Could be even better if maintainence was more sufficient, and each partment was mandatory to carpeting and college students were at a minimum or only to themselves

I Lived here 10 years ago.
This had to have been the nicest apartment for the price in Philly. I had a 10th floor studio and loved it. Great neighbors that looked out for each other (I had more adopted grandparents there than I could ever name); spotless building; helpful friendly staff, and in the summer that rooftop swimming pool was like a country club. Any negatives: well, they don't allow pets (and now we have 2 cats) and a few blocks away the neighborhood starts to get a little scary but overall, I would recommend without question.
