A pretty good place to live.
My wife and I lived here for a little over 2 years. We found the staff to be friendly and personable (both office and maintenance). The fixtures in our townhome were in good condition. The parking situation was very good for the most part. There were plenty of available spaces directly across from where we lived. The management staff was very accomodating when we needed to extend our lease for a couple of months. We would have continued to stay here were it not so far from my wife's place of employment. We did not have any problems with the children who were living close to us. The people near us all seemed to mind their own business. The Plum Borough school district is a quality school system.

Not worth the frustration!!!
Dont waste your time!! The management company is completely inmpossible. They do not enforce the lease. They ignore complaints and landscaping. Children who do not even live in this complex are allowed to terrorize the community and destroy personal and apartment property. One child who is the worst and been seen by other parents doing vulgar things to little kids. And when reported, the management team responded by saying eye witnesses were not proof enough to do anything. This is not a safe care free community. If you have children please find somewhere else to live. You pay way too much money to be a prisoner in your home.

Great Place to Live
I've lived in Holiday Park Apartments for 2 years. I have found the staff to be very kind and very professional. Any maintenance call I've placed has received a response in less than one day. The maintenance staff have all become friends with my dog, and he looks forward to their occasional visits. I have great neighbors who all see their apartments as "homes", so we have built up quite a nice community of professionals who look out for each other and take care of each other. Any problems I've approached Tracy with have been promptly acknowledged and addressed. I would encourage you to look at these apartments and to consider living here.

Don't move in!!!!!! Harassment issues!!!!
My husband and I moved in about a year ago, and our experience here has been nothing short of horrible. We have been fighting with the manager about a mentally disturbed neighbor, who seems to think that it is ok to harass everyone around him, including children. What's even worse is that the manager seems to think that his behavior is acceptable! Holiday Park has done nothing to stop this terrible person, and the people in our plan are afraid to let their children outside!!! The adults are afraid to be in their homes. Don't let your famlies be tourmented like us! The employes here have no idea how to run a community, and they don't care about any one's safety or well being. All they are interested in is getting their rent check every month. There are plenty of other apartment complexes that are a thousand time safer and nicer. Don't make the same mistake we did, go somewhere else!

Attention Student Teachers!
Holiday Park Apartments does not want to rent to Student Teachers. A fellow classmate and I were on assignment in East Pittsburgh for 6 months and they were not willing to give us a 6 month lease despite their "flexible" lease options stated on their website. They said they didn't have any apartments available. Bull. They had several, but they were not the "6 month lease apartments." Office staff were completely unfriendly and unwilling to help. We toured a 2 bedroom townhome and it was dark, outdated, and the repairs done on the place were the absolute minimal. Quite a shame as these places would be great if money was invested into them. The floor plans are decent, they have washers and dryers, and they are located in a convenient area right off 286.

Great place for families
We moved into the Shangri-la townhomes 1.5 years ago. In the time that we were there we had an excellent experience! The parking is very specific to your place, so you'll never have to search. We discovered little playgrounds at other little holiday park apt. inlets. The AC and heating works marvelously - very expensive in the Winter thanks to Dominion People's Gas. The washer and dryer in every unit was SOOO convenient, as the mother of 2. The units are open spaces, so it makes the place seem larger. The 2-bedrooms that we occupied were actually quite large. On the occasion that we needed maintanence they literally came the same day to check it out and fixed it either that day or the next.
The only detractions were these: You're not allowed to paint, which bummed us out at first, but we realized that that's what kept these older aparments in the good condition that they are in. There were silver fish and cenitpedes, but they're not infested with them, just every now and again. Other minor problems is that the age of the buildings leads to a little insulation problem in the winter. And there were some potholes in the parking lot.
However, the staff are fantastic (especially Elaine and the secretary). The walls are not sound proof, but the neighborhood is rather quiet, so everyone was respectful of socially acceptable times to keep it down. We happened to have the best neighbors: friendly, respectful, family-oriented.
We would loved to have stayed here, but my husband and I left for work reasons.
Seriously, if you're looking for a safe residential area with a country feel, pretty nice apartments and at a descent price, then you should move here.
P.S. Noone paid us to say this either, like at other apts.

Mixed Feelings
I'm torn about living here. For one, the maintenance is very punctual. We've lived here a little over a year, and have never once had a problem with them. Also, the walls aren't paper thin, so you do feel like you have you're own place. Now for the bad...when we moved in Ginny told us the water bill would be a hell of a lot cheaper than it actually is. Our first water/sewage bill we got was more than $200, so that was a shock. Also, I think it's very misleading for all of the renter guides to show pictures of the brand new 3-bedroom apartments that go for over $1200 a month to represent the reality of Holiday Park apts. Our place that we live in now has to be over 20 years old, but that's what we could afford. I would love to move, but this is the best for our money right now. And that is true about people moving out, and not having people move right in right away. After our neighbor moved out, it literally took 4 or 5 months for someone to move in. And, my biggest complaint, is that they don't do anything for you when it snows. They don't plow your street, or shovel your walk or anything. You're lucky if they come down with the salt truck..not very good for living in Pittsburgh.

Home
I've lived in Holiday Park since 1982 - off and on Ive rented from Holiday Park Apartments - between getting married and getting divorced - and the children growing and moving on to their own homes - I've never in all of this time had a single complaint about the apartments or the management - problens have been fixed immediately - I've been very happy here. I've paid enough rent over the years I should own the building. I wouldn't live anywhere else - Ive gotten used to the exceptional service and knowing I can count on them.

they dont like to listen to you when something goes worng. they just ignor you untill you pester them enough to take care of the problem. It is such a hasel no one should have to go through with that. there have been silver fish bugs in the apartment since we have movied in and they had to replace our tolet in the first two months of moving in. They told us that we were liying about everything so becareful make sure that everything is good.

TAKE PICTURES WHEN YOU MOVE IN!!!!
I moved in Holiday Park apartments in Jan 2004, and boy look out!! The apartment had pet damage to the carpet in almost every corner of every room, and the smell of pet urine. I called to have the carpet sanitized for this twice, they sent someone once. I lived there 1yr, and when I moved out, I was blamed for this damage!! I even spoke with Ginny the day she showed the apartment, and said it would be taken care of! Don't believe them! If you move here, TAKE PRE-MOVE IN PICTURES and have them dated!!!!!!They never even gave me a move-in condition list. They'll take your deposit.

Paying for Utilities for 9 Months BEFORE move in.
I agree with the tenant that said very pleased and happy with the apartment...for the first 3 months. After the "honeymoon" is over, HELL starts. At first anytime we called about a problem, it would be addressed, if not fixed the same day. After about 3 months in the apartment the paint in our bathroom started to peel from the ceiling (due to mold). We called the apartment 3 times and they sent someone out 3 months later. We also called about 4 months ago about our Air conditioning, and they haven't been out to fix it. It's now winter, so I guess they feel like they don't have to. It should have been fixed 4 months ago when we called.
IF you choose to move here, the day you move in check your utility meters, water, gas, electric. We recieved a water bill for $850 for 3 months. According to the water company the average for 3 months is $97.00 The previous tenant moved out and we moved in 9 months later. We are now paying for the water from the 9 months that we didn't live here. We are now fighting the apartment about it. When I called the office about the problem Ginny (prounced Jenny) said "So just pay it" and left it at that.
Elaine is a sweet heart. She is somewhat new and if she doesn't have the answer she is honest and will get someone who does. She does her job. From what we can tell Ginny does not. We told Ginny about the A/C, the mold in the bathroom, and the water bill. Those are our 3 main problems.
So, if Ginny leaves, it might be a nice complex.
Right now, I wouldn't recommend this apartment to anyone for ANY reason. If you are desperate and the price looks right, THINK AGAIN.
FYI - our apartmnet was vacant for 9 months. 2 people across the street moved out 7 months ago, and they haven't filled them yet. There are two apartments that were moving out the day we moved in (7 months ago), 1 was filled 2 weeks ago and the other hasn't been filled yet. Our neighbors moved out right after christmas. It's becoming a ghost town. I think people are starting to realize that the apartment is "too good to be true".

Just Moved In!
I have just moved in and I couldn't be MORE pleased. We were having problems with our A/C working. I called the office and someone was out the same day. When he couldn't fix it, they called a professional A/C company, and they fixed it.
We received a card in the mail from Elaine (office staff) that said Welcome. This is something small, but it lets you know that they are taking the time to say thank you. (that's rare now days).
The townhome is spacious and there is lot more room than our old apartment. The biggest PLUS is the rent is a lot less than what we were paying for a lot more room.
If you are looking to move, PLEASE look here. They have something for everyone, and you will be happy with your decision.
