Redecorating living rooms can be easier than you think. You don’t have to have a degree in interior design to transform your living room into a place you’ll enjoy spending much of your time. The key is to pick a theme you like and run with it.
1. Country Living
If you enjoy the homey and comfortable look of the countryside, then you should consider redecorating your living room with a country living theme. Some living room furniture to include are wooden end tables and a rocking chair. Quilts are a great replacement for artwork and can make a great focal point in your living room. Armour chairs and oak wood chairs will also add to your country home decor. Country green drapes with lace underneath will give the room a nice touch.
2. Modern Decor
The living room furniture and design of a modern decor is the exact opposite of a country living theme. You want bright colors on your walls, your accessories or your furniture. Glass end tables with your magazines and favorite books add to the modern home decor. Colorful or abstract artwork gives the living room a modern touch. Primary color vases filled with colorful fresh or fake flowers also help to give your living room a modern look. Another alternative is to stick with all white throughout the entire living room, although this is not a good color choice if you have children.
3. English Country Style
If you like the more rustic look, this theme is a good choice for you. The colors in the English country style theme are usually dark browns and reds. You should also use wooden furniture and lots of patterns for drapes, cushions and other accessories. If you enjoy collecting things, you can display them in your living room to complete the look. Display them on your mantels or tables for you and your guests to enjoy.
4. Chinese Style
If you want a dramatic change, why not pick a Chinese design theme. The main colors of your living room will be red, with yellow to accentuate it. You can use dark wood furniture throughout and put paper lanterns on the end tables. You can also find jars and other knick-knacks made of porcelain to decorate mantels or fireplaces, and you can put larger ones on the floor in a corner or two.
5. Victorian Style
This is a great option if you want your living room to be a haven for the entire family. You can use purple, green or red for this theme. Use area rugs with flowers to give it a 19th century look. Large chairs with round edges add to the Victorian style, and your young children will be safer because they won’t bump into sharp angles in your furniture. Use velvet couch cushions that will be pleasing to the eye and soft for your family to enjoy.
Once you pick a theme, take your time and gather materials and living room furniture as you come across great deals. Redecorating living rooms can be affordable if you exercise a lot of patience.
