When choosing colors for a baby’s room, there are so many deciding factors to work with. Gender, brightness of colors  and carpet colors are all factors to keep in mind when decorating for your little bundle of joy. The theme choice will also help deciede which color pallette to choose.

Boy’s Room Versus Girl’s Room

When thinking of a color, an old saying probably comes to mind; blue is for boys and pink is for girls. However, there are so many more color choices for either gender, and some are gender-nuetral, in case of twins. For girls, color choices could be peach, mint green, lavendar or soft yellow. Boys colors can range from blue, green, purple, brown to yellow.

Your Little Princess

Animal prints have always been a hit, rather you have a son or daughter. Teddy bear decorations are another gender-nuetral choice. For little gilrs, a popular choice is the pink and brown combo. Rather it is in stripes or polka dots, this combo is sure to transform any nursery into a dream room for your little princess.  Another option for girls would be a care bear theme, with soft yellow walls. Or maybe a light pink color scheme with Strawberry Shortcake featured.

Your Little Man

For your little guy, an idea would be a jungle motif. Bright and vivid, the room could have bright blue walls and a jungle border. If you want something a bit calmer, a sky blue wall with clouds as the border would be a good choice. This can also be reversed, white walls with blue clouds and maybe a yellow sun in the corner. Another vivid color currently popular is lime green. This color could be coupled with teddy bears for a soft, relaxing atmosphere.

Gender-Neutral Colors

For twins or triplets, this could be a bit trickier if the babies are different sexes. In this case, here are some suggestions for Neutral color pallettes. One theme that is always a hit is anything Disney. Rather it be 101 Dalmatians, Finding Nemo or Lady and the Tramp, each of these can easily transform a room into a perfect nursery. Maybe Dr. Suess is more your style. Try white paint for the walls, and add a red stripe border. Throw in some beloved characters from various books of Dr. Suess and you will have easily created a wonderful room filled with color and character.

The End Result

Rather you hire an interior decorator, or take on the project yourself, these tips can help point you in the right direction. And the end result will leave you with a unique nursery that will be worth showing off.
