Decorating for Spring: 3 Craft Ideas for the Kids

Staff Writer · Apr 4, 2011

Since spring crafts are a lot of fun, you can involve your children in decorating for spring. Such crafts can be made from a variety of materials and can bring color and joy to your home. Here are three craft ideas for the young ones:

1. Handprints and Footprints on Construction Paper

Take several different colors of paint in plates and a roll of construction paper. Get your children to dip their hands in the paint and imprint them on the paper to form the petals of flowers. They can then dip their feet in the paint to make leaves. Stems can be drawn and painted over to make a beautiful floral craft that can brighten up a wall in your children’s bedroom.

2. Flowers Made from Plastic Bags and Straws

With the help of a pair of scissors to cut fancy shapes, cut petals out of shopping bags. Glue them on a roll of construction paper to make flowers and use straws to make stems. You can then frame the paper and hang it on the wall.

3. Butterflies from Bags

Take a sandwich bag and fill it with scraps of paper. Shape a butterfly from the bag by gathering the bag in at the middle and twisting the ends to make the antenna. The bag can then be painted with bright colors. The butterflies can be placed on occasional tables to add color to the room.

Kid crafts can gainfully occupy the whole family and involve the children in creating a festive look at the onset of spring.
