A Shout-Out to Other Good Sites for Renters

Oh My Apartment · Mar 30, 2008

With moving season just around the corner, we wanted to point out a few sites which have (we think) great info about moving and renting.

Some are more entertaining than helpful, but you can always use a light moment in the throes of a move…

My First Apartment
Useful, funny and candid look at renting your first apartment. Bloggers from across the country give their tips from the apartment hunt and roommates to the laundry room and leases, with specific tips about moving to Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles or New York City.

Apartment Therapy
Their mission: “Helping people make their homes more beautiful, organized and healthy by connecting them to a wealth of resources, ideas and community online.” Well said. The photos alone are worth the visit to this site.

Tenant Tales
A hilariously well-written blog by Tracy, an apartment manager in western Canada. She blogged regularly for a year, and the antics of her tenants (and her perspective) may give you an extra ounce of patience for your landlord. A must-read for any current or former renter, we recommend you start at the October 5, 2006 post, as the same “characters” appear throughout the course of the year.

ThatRentalSite
One of the only sites out there to combine large apartments (the same list as ApartmentRatings.com), plus listings for houses, condos, duplexes, town homes (read: individual/small landlords) for a more complete rental search in your area. Renters can post free ads for sublets alongside listings for other rentals. (Disclosure: This is another Internet Brands site.)
