AVOID AVOID AVOID
Roaches everywhere inside your apartment. Pest control did absolutely nothing. Leasing office folks are rude and not helpful. Sinks reek of septic smells constantly. Rats constantly roaming around in front of the complex. Overall nasty

LIVE ANYWHERE BUT HERE
DO NOT LIVE HERE. This place is absolutely disgusting and i do not recommend anyone move here. I still have over half my lease left and i can’t wait to leave. This building is INFESTED with cockroaches and mice. The halls smell disgusting and despite being a non smoking building everything smells like cigarettes. I love how the only issue they try to address is the weekly email telling people to look after their pets and to do their part in maintaining a clean building yet can’t seem to manage the actual issues that are plaguing this building. building. For a non-smoking building my apartment REEKS of cigarette smoke and it’s disgusting. I do not pay over 2,000 to kill cockroaches in my kitchen and gag over cigarette smoke in my own apartment. For your own safety and sanity PLEASE MOVE ANYWHERE ELSE.

Awful place - please be aware
The only thing this place has going for it is its location. With that, it's definitely one of the "cheaper" buildings in the area -- but that of course comes with a cost. There are some nice neighbors here but most are not great. There's a constant, overwhelming smell of weed, and noise issues that management does nothing about. This building is also incredibly old and still with a ton of mold and mice issues like the other commenters have mentioned it. If you can afford to look else where, I would recommend not moving here.

AWFUL. STAY AWAY.
Whatever you do STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Do not let them swindle you with their kindness to get to sign onto a lease for their units. Attached are photos of my AWFUL experience at Potomac Towers. After a couple months into my lease, I had two black mold breakouts and a mouse infestation. The first time I reported the black mold, they told me that the took care of the issue after I submitted a work order in for it. A couple weeks ago go by and the black mold spread to the other end of the kitchen. I put in another work order for mold removal and a couple days go by and I walk in on the contractors PAINTING OVER THE BLACK MOLD. And then right after that mice appeared in the apartment. I contacted management several times to ask for a new apartment and I didn’t not hear from anybody for TWO MONTHS. I had to finally chase down the building manager and confront him face to face and held him up until he FINALLY agreed to let me move. The new apartment I got had caved walls and ceilings and had a shower that clogged several times. This place SUCKS. Go spend your money else where at a better building. I’m RELIEVED I will never have to set foot in this abysmal residence ever again in my LIFE.

Potomac Towers is truly horrible, I can't wait to move out next month. The fact they spent who knows how much to film a marketing video to put on their website tells you all you need to know -- the building is in terrible shape and no amount of fancy marketing or superficial medications will change that. One of the elevators is always not working, noisy neighbors, AC breaks down that causes water in one tier of the building, mice issues -- they truly have it all. On top of that, front desk is terrible, they don't care about residents. The fact that they are charging $2k+ for rent is outrageous with such poor services, package room is still a disaster, don't move here

Cockroach issues on the first floor-I currently live at Potomac Towers and for the past several months and am having major issues with cockroaches. I have contacted management and maintenance on several occasions and have been unable to get any sort of help for the issue. I cleared my schedule on several occasions so I could let pest control into my unit only to have them continually reschedule and then come into my apartment unannounced without my permission while I was away during an unscheduled time. I was then told that there was no problem but now I am continually seeing cockroaches on a daily basis. The building is old and has several issues but I am writing this review to mainly highlight the bug issue. I am not sure how to resolve this with management and I am really just looking for a response from anyone working for this complex.

In just the past week, we’ve had fire alarms go off at midnight with no explanation the next day from management, one of the elevators seems to be broken or offline for a couple hours two different times with no explanation from management, and packages are just sitting in the main lobby by the front door right now at 10 pm with no one watching them or notification that they were delivered. Potomac Towers does not care about resident happiness, managers truly do not care about their jobs, this entire building is so old and not getting the repairs it needs

Potomac Towers would be like an okay place to live with better management. Sure, older buildings have problems, but the lack of care or customer service from the front office is absurd when rents are so high. I was truly so happy to move out earlier this spring after dealing with my own issues with the apartment. Someone below in the reviews called the modifications superficial, and I agree 100%. If you have a problem, like I did, all management really offers to do is just have you move units. I also had a friend living in the building who had a mold issue and she was just given the same option to move units. They soon moved someone else into that same unit, most likely without doing much to actually fix the problem. Everything is just painted over or Greystar takes the cheapest option to fix. I truly can’t believe they are asking for $2k and up for some one bedrooms, that seems ridiculous to me given the shape of some of these units and poor services. The package room is a disaster , there is no 24 hour desk, management in general is terrible and truly do not care about residents. I was paying under $2k a month and I felt like it was an overcharge. The only thing that is positive about living here is the location, but honestly feel like every building in the Courthouse/ Roslyn/ Clarendon area gives you more. Residents can be very noisy too, it’s always the same units being the loudest but management of course never offers to do anything. They barely will respond to an email and their office doors are almost always shut. But of course they will do anything and respond quickly to get people to move in.

I was visiting a friend who has been a resident here for over a year. I put a note on the windshield with my phone number and point of contact for the complex. I ended up being towed by them and the fee was $185!! The tow lot was over 10 miles away as well. Ridiculous if this is how they treat visitors to the complex. And, to my surprise, when I went to the lot, I hear the tow people explaining that they towed over 50 cars that night and were ‘happy with how much money they made.’ Clearly, Potomac Towers chooses to do business in an unscrupulous manner...shame. I would have been happy to move my car had I, or my friend, been notified. The rules for visitor parking are not clearly defined. Sharing this post to help future residents and visitors!!! Plenty of other apartment complexes in the DMV that offer excellent service to visitors and won’t tow you for the $$$.

Chris was extremely professional, friendly, and helpful during the leasing process. His knowledge and expertise was the reason why we chose Potomac Towers over other buildings in the Arlington area. Excited to move in

I truly can't begin to describe how terrible my time at Potomac Towers was. While I moved out last summer when new management took over, I have heard that things have not improved in any way. Potomac Towers needs more staff, from maintenance to management, to properly be able to run a building with as many residents as it has. Noise disturbances and maintenance issues are two huge problems that continue to go unaddressed because of limited capacity. You truly get what you pay for with this building.

Potomac Towers has significant issues. While there is new management that is somewhat better, all they seem to care about is making superficial "modifications" to entice new prospective residents while leaving current residents on their own. They recently re-paved the driveway to put more reserved parking near the front of the building for an additional parking fee. Given that the parking lot is huge, the parking fee for non-reserved spots seems hard to justify. Once you sign your lease, expect to be on your own to deal with problems with your unit or for a slow response from management that often provides quick and easy solutions that are inadequate to solve the issue. Noise is a huge problem and there is constant work still being done to the building with zero communication given to residents. The leasing team told me in August before I moved in that work would be finished relatively soon. Currently they have just started doing work in the picnic area that does not seem critical or important to improving amenity features, and will most likely lead to more noise complaints. There are so many other projects that should have been prioritized to improve quality of living for current residents. The drilling is incessant and terrible to listen to for 8 hours a day for over a week and management sent a late email giving an update as to what was being done after there was no notification. Potomac Towers already suffers from noise complaints from the barbecue area by the pool and noise issues in units is highly dependent on your neighbors as walls are very thin. There is no security guard in the building and no 24 hour desk. Management at Potomac Towers knows that noise complaints are common but has done nothing to resolve the issue aside from simply telling residents to call the non-emergency police. While rent is more affordable than some other apartment buildings in the Courthouse/Clarendon area, it is not worth all the headache and frustration of living in this apartment complex that clearly only cares about charging as much as possible and providing as little in return.

Most of the reviews on this website are perfectly fair. There are some people who give five stars and you have to trust that they truly had a good experience and are not working on behalf of the company to provide positive reviews. Having said that, you should pay attention to the negative reviews. There are many. All of the concerns expressed are valid. Negatives: It is incredibly difficult to get a timely response from any staff members via email or phone. If it is any serious issue, expect to be told to talk to the community manager. While he is polite as discussed below, it is even more difficult to get a hold of him due to his managing of several properties. Potomac Towers is not his only priority and other staff do not act with enough power to address tenant concerns. Expect several days wait, and then a lackluster response. Some of the staff with the new management company, Grey Star, are better. Others are extremely rude. Do not expect great treatment, other than perhaps from the community manager. That is not to say he will resolve your issue, but he is one of the few people with customer service skills who will at least attempt to. The former assistant manager was helpful as well, though he may have left. The remodeling resulted in numerous privacy violations where Potomac Towers did not give proper notice to residents, despite it being clearly required in the lease and by Virginia law. Construction began before it was supposed to. Workers entered the apartments multiple days in a row, occasionally without reason, to be surprised by the occupants being there during the day. Often, this occurred without knocking. You can imagine my surprise being in the shower to find two workers in my apartment. Fortunately, for most tenants, the construction is over. Though not for all, so be sure to inquire if you can expect similar treatment. The noise complaints are all valid. There is not much to say about that. The walls are thin and your experience will vary according to your neighbors. Expect to smell people smoking (both tobacco and weed) occasionally. Sound and scents travel through the bathroom vents and hallways quite easily. Maintenance issues. They will be addressed when they get addressed. You will not get notice of them entering your apartment even if you specifically request it. Often, the maintenance will be insufficient to address the problem. It is a large complex, so bear that in mind. The amenities are relatively nice, when they are open. The pandemic obviously shut down many of them for most of the Spring and Summer, and there were no adjustments made to pricing despite the obvious change in the quality of life within the building. Positives: The new management company, Greystar, is better. They are by no means good, as noted above, but they are certainly an improvement over Bell Partners. If the rude staff were let go or they were empowered AND TRAINED to address tenant issues, there would probably be some major improvements. Pricing has improved under Greystar. Under Bell Partners, it was remarkably high for the area and amenities and the poor treatment. Pricing changes are frequent though so wait for off-season if you truly want to live here. Like stated above, the amenities are decent when they are available. The apartments are nice enough despite the poor finishing. All of the comments about poor paint jobs, floor panels separating, etc are all valid. Best of luck in your new home if you so choose. Consider attempting to get an addendum added on to your lease for some of the above issues if they are important to you. Check out their Better Business Bureau and Yelp ratings if you need more convincing that the many negative reviews are not just hyperbole.

Do not move here, the negative reviews are all pretty accurate. This is a very old building with a multitude of problems. Clearly most of the renovations that were done last year are purely cosmetic and are beginning to fall apart. Some residents treat this as if it is their own personal frat house, with noise issues happening frequently. Management is new but still terrible, and they do not seem to want to properly address any of the issues plaguing Potomac Towers.

The apartment is renovated - that's the only plus. The paint used in the apartment was incorrect and peels, the gym Reno is great but watch out for the ducts leaking on you as you workout and not just water, but a slimy nasty goop that nobody seems to do anything about and people try to workout around it (the new gym floors are already stained as such.) There are mice that come thru holes (6 caught in under a month) left by the contractor and management does nothing but give ineffective mice traps leaving you to handle the problem alone. Some management is decent, the rest are rude AF: The building is NOT worth what you pay.

I moved into Potomac Towers During the pandemic and the move in was extremely smooth. Potomac Towers answered all my questions over the phone and provided pictures and video that I requested. Janay was excellent to work with. On my arrival they were ready for me and the process was efficient. The apartment complex is currently under construction but I have high hopes for when things are complete and all the amenities are open.

Potomac Towers offers spacious apartments in a location that's wonderfully convenient but pleasantly removed from the congested areas. It offers spacious grounds and parking. The building is well-maintained, at least as long as the very knowledgable Mr. Stanley is on the job. On the downside, there is a severe lack of storage for residents, something that cries out to be fixed. And recent moves have taken away the 24 hour front desk, something that was really useful if, for example, you lost your keys or if a neighbor was making an unbearable racket. Overall, it's a solid choice for someone working in DC or a close-in suburb. The downsides could be fixed by enlightened management, though I must say the quality of the management personnel has been declining over my 20 years here.
