Park Crest is a great property to live in. The units are great sizes and the management office is very on top of things. If there is an issue, they and the maintenance team respond very quickly.

Park Crest has been a great place for me to live because it is close to my job and is very dog friendly. I really like the other residents and have become friends with many of my neighbors. The maintenance staff are all very nice and respond to issues quickly. The staff in the management office has been a bit tricky - I don't find them to be that accommodating to the residents and I often have to call many times to get one issue resolved or answers to my questions. I think it would be helpful as well, if the office had more flexible hours - they are inconvenient for those of us that work.

Extremely pleased with the service, professionalism, and friendliness of staff. They have always responded promptly to any issues or concerns I have had. I would - and have - recommended Bernstein to my friends. And I will continue to do so.

The apartments are quiet and clean, I haven't heard my neighbors yet. The bus stop is not too far and we're in walking distance to a Safeway, Whole Foods, Ace Hardware and CVS. Overall, I have been very satisfied.

This is a great community where everyone knows each other. It is a very friendly atmosphere. Also, I love how Rock Creek park is nearby, as well as shopping and restaurants. I recommend Park Crest Community to friends and co-workers

Love the apartment. Don't plan on moving soon! Only complaint is that every single morning there are always dozens of maintenance workers lingering outside my complex door. Wish they had another place to gather.

Pros: Beautiful location...
Pros: Beautiful location in a nice neighborhood; nice old-style apartments that are very quiet and spacious; very affordable rent; excellent maintenance staff. Cons: The location is challenging, especially if you don't own a car; the apartments often require lots of maintenance work for a variety of things that are out of date (though maintenance is fantastic, so if you're patient with this it is not a problem). Overall, if you're willing to live off the beaten path in DC without easy access to the rest of the city, this is a great place.

Glover Park is a great and safe area and the one bedroom apartments are huge (which is why I have stayed for 3 years), but the building is old and has issues with mice in the winter and bugs in the summer. The office/leasing staff let themselves into your apartment unannounced and your "notice" tends to come after the fact, even with repeated requests otherwise. There is someone in the 4120 Edmunds St building with an electric guitar and a passion to practice most nights of the week. My apartment (middle floor) has flooded three times in the past year leaving standing water in my kitchen and twice in my bathroom. This resulted in the ceilings being torn out and replaced and two days without access to my bathroom (no discount on my rent). No explanation was ever given for the "rain" coming from my ceiling. If you have too many electric sockets in use the power will go out in the kitchen and living room and maintenance has to be called to flip the switch since it is located in the basement and not in each apartment. Also, if the person living above you doesn't have carpeted floors you can hear their movements pretty loudly. Utilities are included which is great since they turn on the heat in the building way too early and you do not have access to turn your radiators down so A/C is needed most of the year. I have lived in the apartment for three years, mainly for the closet space, but the cons have started to outweigh and positive aspects of the place. Parking is a huge pain and you are going to be walking awhile if you return after 7 PM. Most tenants have dogs but few pick up after them outside so you need to watch where you step.

I can't recommend Park Crest enough. I lived here for 2 years and am only moving because I'm leaving DC. The apartments are great, they've made an effort to keep as much of the original 40's georgetown architecture as possible while keeping things functional. This means, in addition to the original hardwood, things are better constructed than in newer buildings. This also limits the sound of your neighbors. I've never heard anything for the people on my floor (even though there is a yappy dog I can hear in the lobby), if the people upstairs are doing jumping jacks on the hardwood, I can hear a gentle thumping. The management is fantastic, particularly the maintenance. It's never taken maintenance more than 45 minutes to address an issue, even non-emergency. Compared to everywhere else I've ever lived, that is unbelievably good. The neighborhood is nice. Safe, generally quiet. Hope you like dogs, because they are everywhere. Most people are good about cleaning up after them, reports of dog poop everywhere are largely exaggerated. The grounds aren't really that well maintained if that matters to you (in certain seasons they mow the grass once a month or so), but there is a lot of green area and you're surrounded on 2 sides by rock creek park which is nice. The only genuinely bad thing about the complex is the parking. It is AWFUL. If you are out after 7pm or after 4 on sunday, you can generally count on driving around for a half hour looking for a spot. This is especially bad when you consider the lack of public transportation in the area. You can get a spot in a lot for 160/m, which I think is outrageous, but they usually have a wait list apparently I'm the only one.

No high-end but really good
I have moved here in december 2011, previously lived in Georgetown. The place is cute, a lot of green and extremely quiet. The neighborhood is safe and quite enjoyable. Pros: 1) Dog-friendly: if you are looking for a place in DC that is not going to rip you off if you have a dog, this is the place to be 2) Fair rent and all utilities included 3) Beautiful park right in front of the property 4) Outdoor barbecue and Fitness Center 5) very quick maintenance services, just shoot an email with the problem, and they usually come the same day (had two minor issues, they came right away) 6) apartments are huge! a one-bedroom here is a two-bedroom somewhere else Cons: 1) Dog-friendly: if you don't like dogs, just stay away! It doesn't make sense to come here and then complain about dogs barking or occasionally going around unleashed (in the park it usually happen, never seen unleashed dogs in the street or in the property) 2) If you don't like walking and you don't own a car, it's quite a walk to wisconsin (and it's uphill) 3) the property is divided in new and old buildings. I'm in one of the old ones. It's not falling apart, but it's nothing fancy (although it has wooden floors), so don't expect brand new kitchens or extremely cured floors and walls 4) Might be problematic to park around there if you don't rent a spot from the property 5) Staff are not the brightest lot ever, but they are always there and do their job (nothing more than that though). If you are used to first-class staffers that follow you in every aspect of your life, forget about it. I would recommend coming here, although if you are a particularly demanding person, you should check carefully the apartments offered.

Should I move here
Hey guys. Im moving from VA and would like to know how this apartments been doing recently. I read a few reviews that said roach infestation? I do have two small dogs and im wondering how this area is. Also parking seems to be terrible for visitors? Are there any all for visitors? All street seemed to have zone permit or max 2 hours only for non permits. I wanna know how my family can stay overnight if this is the case. Appreciate any feedback both good and bad! Thanks !

Some problems, but a good place to live
We moved here from Ohio, and have lived here a year. There were definitely some issues when we started out. For one thing, the apartment complex had a nasty roach infestation. The flooring was poorly installed and work needed to be done on the place that should have been done long before we moved in. The staff, however, was friendly, fast and efficient. They brought exterminators in, eventually treating the whole building. Their handy-men were quick, competent and efficient in fixing the problems, and now we really like where we live. The area around the apartments are picturesque and safe, and great for walking. Parking is adequate but can be a challenge, especially later at night. If you get in after 8:00pm be prepared to park a few blocks away. Bus access is right near by, and they finally got around to installing a decent fitness center. All in all, I recommend living here. The rent is standard for the area, but considering it's one of the few rent controlled buildings left in the area, you'll save a ton on utilities. Just be sure to inspect your unit carefully before signing the paperwork to save yourself some headaches.

We love it here!
My husband and I live here with our 8 month old and we love it. Our apartment is large, unique, and beautiful. We love the parquet floors and the price is unbeatable, plus it includes utilities. Neighborhood is very safe, nice and quiet. Lots of greenery and a quick walk to Wisconsin. We plan on staying here until we buy a house, probably in this neighborhood. Management is very friendly and responsive. So glad we found this place!

Live here and love it!
My husband and I moved here in January 2010. Yes, the snow removal was terrible, but the neighborhood is very hilly and is inaccessible. But, there is lots of green space, great neighbors, access to parks and dog parks. Wisconsin Ave is the main shopping area and there are many great stores and restaurants. I love living here. The office staff is responsive and very professional, and nice. The maintenance staff is responsive and decent. They take safety seriously, and the common areas of the buildings are kept very clean. My vestibule is cleaned at least twice a week. I have seen roaches, but only outside near the trash cans. I have never seen a roach or any pest in my apartment. The walls are not soundproof but for the most part its not too noisy. Because of the beautiful hardwood floors, you can hear upstairs neighbors come in when they wear heels. Although, I love the floors so much, it really doesn't bother me. The neighborhood is quiet which doesn't make for much noise from the outside. I feel very safe in this neighborhood. The complex is well lit, the paths are clear and because the neighborhood is so out of the way, most people there are there because they live there. I rarely see people who seem out of place and crime is very low. I recently was told Glover Park is one of the safest places to live in DC. My husband and I plan to continue to live here for at least three more years. We really love it!

Nice place to live!
I've lived in Park Crest for just over a year, and its a great place to live. The staff is great, and very responsive. The neighborhood is great, great, great, especially for people with dogs. My apartment (and all the floorplans are different) is huge and has a TON of closet space for an apartment. The drawbacks? An assigned parking spot is (what I feel) too expensive, so I park on the street, which is especially annoying late at night and on the weekends. But on those rare days I get home from work before 7pm, its not a problem. And why do I drive to work? Because it is not metro accessible. The buses are fine in the morning going downtown, but I work up towards Maryland and they do not run that frequently. Mornings are okay, nights are a NIGHTMARE. That is more a MetroBus, but it impacts quality of life. Other than that: No dishwasher. Laundry in the basement, not in the unit. But for what I pay (which I actually think is obscene but then I remind myself that this is DC), I can't expect much more.

Awful maintenance!
Rude maintenance staff. They do a bad job cleaning and fixing the buildings and common areas, and even little maintenance problems are a nightmare. Snow removal was AWFUL. The incompetent maintenance crew buried their own snow plow with snow for crying out loud! The facilities are overly note happy. Every two days there's a new note pasted on our doors. And be prepared to step in poop. Everywhere! I have to walk around the block every morning because a woman let's her chow mix and giant black lab run free through the lawns and parking lot every morning. Scares me!!! Lots of drunks in the buildings too and their beer cans and wine bottles sit in the bushes for days.

Definitely worth it.
Park Crest is an enormous complex. They basically own about 4 solid blocks of Glover Park real estate. Because of this...alot of the reviews you'll read will be varied. Park Crest has two different styles of buildings. There are the larger, yellow buildings, and there are smaller 9 apartment "house-sized" buildings. I have lived in a "house sized" building on 41st St for 2 years. It has been overall a great living experience. The apartments are large, the hard wood flooring is nice, and I have had very few bad experiences with management/maintenence. A few down sides: Park Crest has a great price, but part of why Glover Park is cheaper overall is because it is very inaccesible. There are only 2 busses that run in and out of the neighborhood, and they are unreliable. Another downside is that the kitchens are BADLY in need of an update. The apartments have a kitchy 1930's feel to them, but most of the kitchens are small and in need of new appliances. I will admit that I have seen some cockroaches in my apartment. Everytime I see one, I call for the exterminator and 4 out of 5 times he has shown up and taken care of it. Word for the wise, when you live in a city, it doesn't MATTER how clean YOUR apartment is...if you have one dirty neighbor, you are likely going to see a roach in your lifetime. Lastly, while the management office is good, maintenence is often unresponsive. I have had to call several time about minor issues and there seems to be a disconnect between the management staff putting in the work order, and the maintenence crew doing it. Some good things: Great space, good safe neighborhood, generally quiet neighbors, clean grounds, grill and picnic area out back. Again, this review only applies to the smaller buildings, but overall I would recommend Park Crest!

Needs Much Improvement
Not bad. But could be a lot better. Specifically, I'd like to see the common areas vastly improved. Frayed and stained carpet line the halls. Paint is chipped and faded in the hallways. Skylights leak. Hallways frequently stink of cigarettes, water, dog pee, and dirt. The grounds frequently look like a junk yard... people leave old furniture and dishes on the curb as a "gift' to the neighborhood. The grass and shrubs are ugly. New trees should be planted where too many were chopped down. But still, the management team is awesome -- very friendly and helpful and work with what they've got. Clearly, Bernstein needs to pump some money into a major improvement project. We pay luxury prices in the hopes that they'll begin some kind of renovation soon. Would love to invite friends over for dinner one day and not have them embarrassed to walk through our hallway.
