what.. an actual staff?
I have lived at this property for over 5 years, and I must say that I have watched the property fizzle to something less than desirable within that timeframe. To my pleasant surprise, though, I have seen quite a few improvements we can all be proud of. The staff has been stable for almost a year now, so you can actually remember names! Not only that, but they actually seem to care! They have been very responsive to my needs so far and are always very pleasant every time I have come into contact with them. Those maintenance men are awesome! I see them working hard every single day, whether it be to improve the grounds or repair things in my apt. Justin, the manager, has made strong efforts in making sure we stay informed of what is happening at our community, which has been virtually unheard of since I've resided here.

Never thought I'd say this before, but I might just recommend a friend to live here!

Re: 7/29/05 review What happened to ethics with this web site?
I am "William", the former employee that used to work in this office. First of all I would like to say that the "Community Experience" when I worked at this location was wonderful, and I miss all my residents.

Now on with my vent, first of all to post this comment about the community this person agreed not to use any names, or profanity. Needless to say this person does not follow rules. And is probably not happy because they could not follow Community rules as well.

Kindly consider the source, visit the Community and please form your own opion. I assure you, you will not be disappointed.

Sincerely,
William

The Maintenance Guys are the Best
I have lived here for over 5 years now and the guys in maintenence are the best we have ever had. The are really quick to fix things and the pool looked better this year then I have ever seen. I knot this place went through a rough patch, but it seems like things have really got a lot better with the new staff.

OK for the money in Midtown
For the rental rates, this place is OK, not great, just OK. THERE IS A MAJOR FLOODING PROBLEM WITH THE FIRST FLOOR APARTMENTS. However, the staff was very responsive the next morning after the flood in getting the water sucked out. DON'T PARK IN THE LOWER PARKING DECK EVER. IT FLOODS! The air conditioners are old and noisy and very inefficient, so power bills can be high. Had a big problem with a neighbor who liked to party big time but she was eventually evicted after several complaints. The drug haven other folks have spoken about must have been cleaned up because I haven't been aware of that sort of thing going on. The office staff does seem to change frequently but the people in there now are friendly and responsive.

Mold
I requested Maintenance to come fix my mold problem-growing not only in bathroom, but bedroom too. When I realized they'd merely painted over the mold in the bathroom, I called back again to ask they please remedy the situation. The leasing agent actually said to me 'I just don't understand what you want us to do about it'. I replied I want you to fix it right-not paint, but get rid of the black fuzz growing around my bedroom. I guess after their lack of interest in fixing it, they shouldn't have been all that surprised I'm moving out as soon as I can-even before my lease ends.

Great Place
I moved into an apartment at Gables Cityscape in April of this year and I love it. The location is great and the staff has been so helpful. There has been one change in the office staff since I moved in but I think it is for the better. I can't believe I found such a charming little community in midtown with such reasonable prices. I plan on staying for a long time.

Dont be fooled
Thank God I didnt move here. At first I thought the rent was kind of high but then I condsidered maybe since it was Midtown so I gave it a chance.
It took 3 things for me to realize:
> The rudeness of the staff.
> The opinions of a few neighbors in the surrounding appartments.
> More important: a look across the street into the crack park and the housing projects right in back of it.

$825 a non-refundable 200 deposit and a $60 aapplication fee...
Pay that much ? For what? You're kidding me.
I'm happier now where I'm at, more convenient and a lot more reasonable.

It's pretty cool
I think the neighbors and small neighborhood along with location is great! I mean it may have a few problems like the drainage but in reality that's only in one section of the building. The office staff has become alot more stable and reliable! The apartments themselves are generally nice and affordable for this area of town. I suggest it, especially If you are looking for a great location and more bang for your buck!

Going down the drain...
Ok, I've lived here on two seperate occassions. The first time I leased out a unit that was in designated flood plain - though I was promised by management that it hadn't flooded in 10 years or so. Well, the first big down pour and I had two feet of standing water in my apartment. Thank god for renter's insurance. They have since condemned those units and not longer rent them out - about 20 or more.

I came back in 2003 and made sure I got a unit on high ground. Everything was great at first. I had heard a rumor that Gables is trying to get permission to tear down the current apartment complex and re-build a pretty mid-rise like Savannah Midtown next door. It's pretty apparent that this rumor is true because management has gone out of their way not to fix or replace anything on the grounds.

The rat problem is almost comical. You thing you've hit someones cat, only to find out it's a giant wharf rat.

Pet owners refuse to pick up pet waste so the grassy knoll next to the pool smells like poo baking in the hot sun.

The sad thing is, Cityscape has great potential - but Gables doesn't want to meet it so they can build their new mid-rise. The location may be great, but it's turning slummy fast.

WHATS UP WITH THE STAFF CHANGES?
I Have enjoyed living here. I renewed my lease and now I am not so happy that I did.

The last manager was such eye candy now he is gone. The 20th new manager is rude and impatient. She needs to get an attitude check. The maint staff is awesome.

Plese Please Please get the tan guy back. He has the greatest personality and I agree with the other review. His eyes made me melt.

Lastly we need to get the pied piper in here to rid us of the rats!

LOVE IT!
Well, they finally have a decent staff. The new Manager is so friendly and DATEABLE. I wasn´t even going to think about renewing but now I most certainly will. All he had to do was stare at me with those piercing blue eyes. The flooding sucks but every complex has its problems. If the rents do not get raised to the extreme I will also have my frat brothers rent here as well.
