The new offerings are exciting
I've lived at Hunt Club for 3 years now and I had decided to move out at the end of my lease. The former owner, AIMCO, had done nothing that they promised and they only had one very over worked maintenance man. When the new management took over in January of this year (2006), they increased the maintenance staff to 8 or 9 people who are out working all the time. I've never seen this many people staying busy at a place before, especially not this place. But the proof would be in the pudding as they say, so I went to the office to talk to the new management about my issues, some of which I had been waiting for sice I moved in 3 years ago. I figured I would get the same old lip service and nothing would be done. Within 3 days, I had new carpet in my apartment, new vinyl floors in my two bath rooms, they fixed my leaking dishwasher and even replaced those ugly swag light fixtures in my bathrooms. I know no one is perfect, but these guys really seem to care about us and they seem to do what they say they will. I've decided to stick around and see what other improvements they come up with around here. They already added a hot spot to the clubroom, which I can pickup intermittenly from my apartment; I need to work on making my reception stronger, so I can give AOL the boot.

Noisy highway for some apartments
Good:
- The office managment is friendly.
- The maintenance is quick.
- Cheap
- Outside upkeep is good

Bad:
- Noisy because of 465
- VERY old furnishings, almost every appliance replaced within 6 months of living!
- Drafty as heck, alot of wasted energy for heat and cooling, master bedroom ALWAYS 5-10 degree's cooler than set temperature.
- Dirty inside hallways, all the time
- Suspicious behavior from neighbors (drug deals, racist minorities make an uncofortable walk outside....I've actually been told to "f*ck off" for saying "Hi". While walking into my apartment one day, said "Hi" to our neighbor's kid across the way, the mother proceeded to jerk on the boys arm to pull him inside and said "DON'T TALK TO THEM". Just nonsense behavior from racist people that have no clue about life, they leave you alone in general though.)

Other than that, people leave you alone, and it's a great place to live if you don't have alot of cash....but ONLY if you don't have the cash...

The Hunt Club office management is not on top of their job, the upkeep is good outside the building. But the upkeep to the inside isn't the best and very slow with competing work order.

Thus far an enjoyable place to call home
All in all these apartment are not a bad place to live in thus far. These apartments have a lot of things going for them, and few things against them. For starters, the maintenance staff is horrible, but the office staff is helpful and friendly. I moved in and it has taken them over 2 weeks to get my AC fixed, not to mention they have not fixed the minor problems I put in upon moving into my apartment. Also the apartments themselves are pretty old and could use a makeover both inside and out (Some of the apartments are still painted with Lead based paint). Being an old complex does have its advantages. It was not built in a rush so the walls are solid and pretty noise proof, not to mention the bedroom is not a common wall! There is plenty of space in the one bedroom (800 sq. ft.), although the bathroom could be a little bigger. I would have to say one of the biggest pluses for this complex is the safety of it. Before deciding to rent an apartment anywhere I called the Marion County Police and had an incident report for all the places I looked at. This place in the past year had only 2 reports (one count of larceny, one count of thief under $500). I recommend doing this for anyone looking for an apartment. Also not sure how many apartments have this out there, but you can pay by credit card here, and also do it over the web or have them deducted it monthly. To be honest I have only been living there about a month now and I am sure there is a few things I do not know about them, so I will post again in a few month to give more of an updated idea of what the apartments are like. Best of luck finding an apartment.

GOING DOWN HILL
I HAVE LIVED IN HUNT CLUB FOR ONE YEAR. WHEN I MOVED IN THEY WERE WELL MANAGED. THEN A NEW LADY TOOK OVER, I DIDN'T HAVE WORKING AIR FOR OVER 2 HOT MONTHS. THE POOL IS FREQUENTLY LEFT LOCKED, AND I HAVE EVEN CALLED TO ASK HER TO UNLOCK IT AND SHE SAID SHE WAS BUSY AND DIDN'T HAVE TIME.THERE IS NO-ONE PICKING UP LITTER AND THE DUMPSTERS ARE FREQUENTLY OVERFLOWING. MY CAR WAS ALSO BROKEN IN TO IN THE PARKING LOT. I AM HAPPY TO BE MOVING OUT OF HERE AS MY YEAR IS FINALLY UP.
I love my apartment
Hunt Club apartments is a very peaceful place. At any apartment complex, there will be some type of issues, but my expeiriece has been very surprising. Maintenance has always came when I called. The people in the office are very nice and care about what you are telling them and will work with you to help solve your problems. My neighbor has been here for 20 years and they are very happy also. I have never lived in an apartment that was this big and a complex that kept the grounds clean.I have suggested my own mother to move here and I highly recommed Hunt Club to anyone that is looking to move.

AWFUL
I have lived in these God-forsaken apartments for almost a year. It takes maintenance forever to fix anything - which by the way, in the time frame that I have lived there, I have had to call them at least once-twice a week for something that happens to break. My sister by the way lives in the apartment and has found two mice running around. In addition, the staff seems oblivious to what is going on (or just doesn't care). I wouldn't recommend these apartments to dog. Oh and did I forget to tell you that I have had two neighbors who seem to like beating/screaming to the top of their lungs at their spouses.

Nicest out of neighboring complexes!
Moved into The Hunt Club in Jan 98 to a one bedroom which was along the highway and never had any issues with noise from traffic or anything, should have stayed on this side! Was great size and price for my dollar and especially with my job right down the road and I-465 right outside the main entrance, was perfect. Nice grounds and appearance. Staff was always professional and curtious. Later, I upgrade to a 2 bedroom across from the pool, which was great. Bit more room and still at a good price! Never any issue with neighbors or the complex itself but that isnt to say the neighboring "hood" wasn´t far from mind. In the 18 months of living there it wasnt until moving into the 2 bedroom and after the Indianapolis cop which ran checks through the complex left, that problems started. I had a carport in the back, away from my line of sight and running with the fencing to cut off the "hood" from the community. Well while having my vehicles there, one was broken into with shattered window, popped locks and items were stolen. Then a few months later, my second vehicle was STOLEN and recovered later in the neighboring ,"hood" stripped and vanalized. It was then that I realized the complex can do nothing for security and decided to move out.
I still think it is a great place compared to the complex across 56th street and those on the other side of the bridge. Had friends in the other communities where worse thing occured. So The Hunt Club is the best on 56th street, just stay away from parking your vehicles along the territorial fencing to outside neighborhoods.

Good Value for the Price
We lived here for our first year of marriage and can honestly say I was a satisfied customer. The staff was always friendly and helpful, the grounds were kept neat & mowed, I never saw roaches. Our nieghbors were nice and the ´hood was quiet. My favorite part: The closet was HUGE! For what you pay, I think it offers a lot, but keep in mind it´s not the Ritz.
