I've lived here for 10 years and they've consistently improved the property over the years. The staff is very kind and inviting! Any maintenance issues are taken care of promptly. If you're a dog person this is the place for you.

Old Farm Shores Apartments offers a beautiful and serene living environment with an amazing variety of trees and wildlife. The pants are visited by mail or ducks, Canadian geese, and a surprising blue Heron. And of course lots of chirping birds. The staff keep the grounds in prestige condition. Laurie Andrea

Really beautiful views of the lake. Every time I have guests over they compliment the view. Also very pet friendly. 10/10 recommend Old Farm Shores to friends and family! Air conditioning and heating is nice. The high ceilings are nice as well.

I have been extremely happy with my time at Old Farm Shores. Everyone in the office is helpful and friendly. If anything needs fixing it gets done right away. 10-15 minutes from downtown and close to great bars like Broad Leaf and Railtown. Check this place out.

I have loved living here for a multitude of reasons: Convenient area (East Grand Rapids, Kent Trails) affordable living rates, comfortable/clean living arrangements, peaceful/pretty area, and the office is extremely welcoming and responsive. Honestly you couldn't ask for better.

I've enjoyed living here for many years and seeing the improvements to the landscaping and outdoor amenities in particular. The office staff is very friendly, it's a convenient area, and it's nice to have the nature trails nearby. Unfortunately there can be quite a bit of noise and litter from the neighboring area, which is unfortunate. People are constantly coming into the complex to dump trash so the dumpsters are always overflowing and residents have no place to put their own trash. Same with parking at times. While I think it's a nice apartment, I do think the prices are getting quite steep with what you are getting in return in terms of safety, quiet and overall cleanliness. It would be nice if the buildings and grounds were more secure to help prevent those issues.

This is my first time living on my own and every part of the experience has been easy and pleasant. Maintenance has always come out immediately, the office staff is very friendly, the pool, clubhouse, and grilling area are all well-kept. The environment is clean and very peaceful. I would recommend to anyone.

Been here a few months and it is a lovely place so far. Very quiet and staff is helpful. Maintenance is not an issue, and things get fixed fairly quickly. Overall a great place to live and you won't be disappointed.

We love our little loft - having a view of the lake is great and it's very quiet even though we're in the city. Anytime we have a question or issue, the office and maintenance staff are quick to respond and help. We have really enjoyed living here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place in the Kentwood area!

Quick maintenance response and awesome office staff. Love the pool and it's within easy walking distance of 2 playgrounds and pretty quiet. Not to mention the beautiful view. We enjoy the peaceful lake and it's super close to downtown and shopping.

Do not rent here, the office especially ------ is extremely rude they do not do a good job of explaining things and they do that so they can get over on you making you pay hundreds in unnecessary fees /fines. They take days sometimes weeks to fix things. We had a leak, that was just painted over instead of stopped and or fixed. The place is a dump for what they want you to pay, not even close to being worth the price you pay. Ive had better experiences when I lived at a University apartment complex, where people partied every weekend, you will regret staying at Old farm shores. DO NOT STAY AT OLD FARM SHORES, STAY AWAY!!

The staff, maintenance, upkeep and grounds aren't the issue with Old Farm. It is a wonderful place. However, the issue here is the rent increases on a yearly basis. They are WAY beyond normal yearly cost-of-living increases. Didn't Donnie T give a bunch of tax breaks to those such as Monarch Investments so they don't feel obligated to gut their residents yearly? I'd keep it at 3-4%.

DO NOT RENT ANY STORAGE UNITS IN THIS FACILITY!!!! I had belongings in a storage unit here that was infested with rodents and poorly maintained. Everything looked fine when we put our belongings in there but upon retrieving them found piles of feces, gnawed up clothes and equipment, mold/mildew on furniture and standing water. Management refused to cover the cost of replacing goods damaged by their neglect of the building or even reimburse the cost of renting the storage unit.

DO NOT LIVE HERE I have now lived here for 3 months and have had nothing but trouble. When I first moved in my balcony was so unsteady that when you stepped out on it the whole thing would rock back and forth. Maintenance came and said they would look into seeing what they could do to stabilize. Heard nothing back so I reached back out and office management came and told me it was fine (even though it was clearly unstable and maintenance agreed it needed to be fixed). Only after threatening to call the city was it fixed. The A/C would not get below 78, just continuously ran for 3 straight days until maintenance came and said it's just as good as those units will do. Told me to keep my blinds shut and close some vents so the other vents would blow harder. Fixed nothing. I gave up and bought a portable unit because it was cheaper and more effective to run than the central air. Buzzer to get in corroded and would not work. Maintenance said all the buzzers here are like that because their old. Fixed nothing. Hot water heater leaked and drained right into the apartment below us. Got a new one but it goes to show how old and un-kept all their appliances are. Then my boyfriends car (who is on the lease and lives here) is broken into. They told him over the phone that it was on him for leaving it unlocked. Come to find out they told the same thing to another individual who had their car broken into the same night. They will do nothing to make the community aware of this because they do not want the bad image. All of this is on top the units just being very poorly kept, no upkeep on parking lot, dead branches all over car ports, pool shut down because it was unsafe, whole summer with the outdoor kitchen out of commission, carpets full of stains, plaster cracking all over the ceilings and window frames. The office will give you whatever company line they are told and do not care about anything else. Do not believe the pictures. They do not deserve your money. Cannot wait until my lease is up so I can finally feel safe again.

I was more then satisified living here even with breakins and a few problems here and there. Until Monarch bought them and raised rent almost $80 per month on current residents. They told me a average 3 to 5% is normal and when I expalined this was well beyond 5% they told me I could move. This use to be a great place but it is not worth the $1000 for a 2 bedroom.

Really disappointed in the overall experience of living here. The staff are probably good people, but everything is SO unorganized and I never felt like I got a good answer to anything. They always had to call corp or somewhere else and it was just so chaotic the entire time, even before we moved in, which should have been our first red flag. Prior to move in, I had to ask the leasing agent to re-write our lease 2 different times because she left things off, which I knew we would be charged and penalized for if we asked for them later. Even on move in day, she had to change something else on our lease. A couple weeks later we got contacted because they mischarged us, even though I had caught already a few errors that meant we had to pay more, and now we owed them even more! They also claimed they didn't know what happened to our deposit, which was eventually put back into our account as a credit. Apparently when they called to say we had a credit on our account from them finding the "missing" money it was supposed to go back into our deposit but was not, so when I paid rent it showed I owed less money. Once we moved out we of course got no money back because the deposit was already used. So many errors took place with our paperwork and funds on our account, its a good thing we always pay rent on time. Our carport collapsed on both our vehicles on Christmas eve, luckily they did help us get out the car that was not totaled. I was told their insurance company would contact ours. They never did. I was told to contact corp which I did, only to get the run around even more about the 250 deductible we had to pay to total out our vehicle. The worst part is that the carport was supposed to be fixed, they knew it was not stable and yet we never got our deductible back. The view of the lake is nice, and I loved our vaulted ceilings. That is about the only positives of living here. Again the staff is nice, but they wont be held accountable for their mistakes and they honestly don't know how to fix things and make residents want to stay. We broke our lease and had to pay a hefty amount of money to leave, because they don't allow you to find someone to sublease. We no longer had a carport and needed covered parking for our car insurance and I didn't trust anything on the property any longer. It seems like there are good amenities but they are not worth the hassle. The dog park is never cleaned, and even the grass around the buildings has dog poop everywhere. We had a dog and I would clean up other dog poop daily just to keep our little area clean for our dog. Writing this review saddens me, but they had SO many chances with us to make things right and offer good customer service and every time I was disappointed and upset with how they handled the situation. This could be an amazing place to live if they figured out how to run it, and how to keep up on things. Our apartment was very outdated but to my knowledge they started updating them recently. I am sad I was left with such a bad taste in my mouth after we moved out and realized they had already used our deposit throughout our time living there, and didn't even know it until I brought it to their attention. They again did not take responsibility and the blame was put on us for "using our deposit" which never should have even been possible.

Old Farm Shores really is fine. I have lived here for 4 years. I will be moving out due to my job. But if I wasn't I would probably stay here. Lets start by this: If you live on the bottom level, you're screwed. If you live near the community washer/dryer, you're really screwed. The walls are paper thin, I cant remember the last time and peacefully slept. You will hear it whenever anyone walks into the complex, being by the washer/dryer, you will hear it every time someone opens or shuts those damn doors. You will also hear, clearly the person above you. Like their whole conversations, when they take showers, etc. So don't get a bottom level. The neighborhood...really not that bad for its reputation. After living there for 4 years I never had a problem. Others do get their cars broken into. So lock your car ALWAYS. It can actually be pretty quite and peaceful here. You'll see a lot of Cops, but don't be lose sleep over that. There are many walking and biking trails that go through the community which I loved. I will miss that. My apartment was actually nice inside, I had white counters and appliances ran great ( well the dishwasher wasn't that great, but did the job) My TOILET was a POS!!!! Literally would always keep running and running. Shower pressure was fine. But you will get drips and have to call maintenance like 50 times. Little things definitely went wrong or broke, but its an apartment and its going to happen. Maintenance guys are AWESOME!!!! They are pretty quick, friendly and even give you popcorn :). The deck...these are the largest decks you will find in an apartment. I loved that. I had a gas grill, three chairs and a table. I will miss that as well. Bugs? Yeah there is a bug problem. At least in my apartment and I am pretty clean. I don't know what kind they were, but they lived in my carpets. Spiders are bad there too. So before you move in go to Lowes and buy Home Defense!!! Overall these apartments really were not that bad. An apartment is an apartment. I did enjoy living close to Walgreens, Target, Meijer's, restaurants, etc. Definitely lock your doors to your car and apartment, not that good of an area, but if you don't get caught up in, you'll be fine. Ohh, always pay your rent on time or they will try to kick you out, like after a day late. Hope this helps!

I just moved out of OFS yesterday, only because I'm on to another chapter in my life. I absolutely loved it here and would have stayed forever. Waking to the lake view every morning was awesome. I had a lower unit and I could fish from my dock, I had coffee with the ducks! The landscaping, lakes, creeks, trails, pool and dog park made everyday a beautiful adventure. Maintenance staff is friendly and trustworthy,as is the office staff too. Alyson is very helpful and friendly, always there with a smile and a wave. It's close to shopping and anything else you could possibly need. I recommend it!! Thank you Alyson!!!

I am a current tenant that has asked for a copy of my lease to be put on my door...simple task ...it was taped to my neighbour's door...I call office staff of course not only to complain but also for them to please pay more attention to what they're doing as something like that contains personal information... well the dummy on the other end of the phone had the audacity to argue that point with me...really?? ..how blanking stupid can you be?? ..last week I received a copy of a prospective tenants credit application sent to my home with obviously wrong name/address...the staff is incompetent...I've had several issues with them this being the latest...I've had maintenance enter my home without my permission also.. apparently these people in my opinion aren't even employable at McDonalds and have all somehow conglomerated here... Look elsewhere people..save yourself the headache of dealing with the rudest most incompetent people I've ever met in my life

I would not recommend this place to others. When we were apartment hunting, we called Old Farm Shores and they had a loft available. I made an appointment for the next day. I drove over an hour to get there and when I arrived, the staff told me they had already rented it out. No phone call or warning. I really should've paid attention to that red flag. Instead, stupidly, I asked if they had any other apartment available. When we moved in, the staff member who handled all of our paperwork got our rent price wrong and didn't know it. We signed paperwork, moved in, and one week later got a call from another staff member requesting that we come in and sign for the new rent, which was higher. They weren't even apologetic about it. They should've just taken the hit for their staff making an error, not us. I couldn't believe it. My car was broken into one night - shattered window and some little things stolen. Nothing major and not the staff's fault, but a safety concern. Makes me feel a little less safe, especially since we don't have security entrance (the staff member who worked with us told us our building did - I should've checked myself before signing like an impulsive idiot). They're really terrible at giving enough heads up when anything major is going down. Just this week, we received half of a day's notice for roof reconstruction and to move cars out of their parking spaces. I feel bad for anybody who went away for more than a day and had their cars left where there was falling debris, or valuable things on their patio where there were tons of things being thrown from the roof. It was also incredibly loud. I live on the bottom floor, and it sounded like they were right above me, hammering and drilling and scraping, for 10+ hours. The dishes were rattling in my cupboards. Just irritating that they really didn't give us much notification. A lot of things were wrong with the apartment when we initially moved in - hole in the utility room ceiling (we told maintenance about it and they were going to fix it, hasn't happened yet... it's been nine months), the slider door lock didn't work (still doesn't, we use the back-up one at the top that slides halfway down), one of our blinds fell out after only a few times of use, the outlet in the bathroom constantly goes out, an Ethernet outlet doesn't work, etc, etc, etc. We just don't bother calling maintenance about these things anymore because it's all never actually fixed. The layout of our unit takes any heat from our stove and causes our fire alarm to go off if we don't have a fan blowing directly at it. It happens when we just boil water. There are quite a few other problems here, but this is turning into a novel. Bottom line: a professionally sloppy staff who makes the whole experience of living here not worth it. It's all just a facade. We will not be renewing a lease. Only giving higher than 1 star rating because I like the bike trails and the lakes.

The staff is terrible!!! Not helpful when a situation happens. I am not the type of person to leave reviews, EVER, but I felt I absolutely had to here. I don't want to go into too much detail but a certain essential requirement (heat, hot water, locking doors) broke over 15 times over a few months and when I finally asked to talked to manager she was not sympathetic at all. There was also no compensation given; not good business standards if you ask me.

Renters beware..this place is not worth your future headache.. the staff is rude.. the maintenance does a ------ job of fixing things here.. they do not return your calls in a timely manner and everything has a cost ..the carports are not free the storage facilities are not free and neither is the washers are dryer everything here has a cough and a nickel and dime you to death for every change that you would like to make they charge you admin fees of $40.00 plus to make an exception to you were 30 page lease I've been through two winters here in so far the snow removal has been very minimal the only thing that they do do is salt the porch but they do not shovel a path or walk way out to the parking lot.. so you will be walking in snow up to your knees ..and when that turns to ice it is not removed..you will be walking in 3 inch thick ice slipping and sliding everywhere...there are four apartments to each building.. a numerous amount of buildings here with each apartment ranging in rental fees in excess of a eight hundred to a thousand dollars a month but yet they cannot shovel or keep the parking lot or walkways free of snow or ice...some of the staff is beyond rude and even though the advertisement says that they are pet friendly they are not ..they harass owners who have pets save yourself the trouble and don't even stop
