Maintenance resolves issues in a timely manner. In the last 4 years rent has gone up $100, that is a flaw. The school system for this property is pretty good. The school bus picks up right in the front as well

while looking to move to the area i was having a hard time finding a space that was affordable while also allowing pets. everywhere either had a weight limit or the fees associated were extremely over priced. was referred by a friend to this property & was satisfied with the price of rent including the pet fee. on top of that the amenities are great. aware that lake michigan is more than close enough but having the pool is such a bonus. having a laundry room in each building is very convenient as well. do wish the maintenance was better but that's not a lakecrest issue. that being said their maintenance staff is always more than helpful & extremely timely in fixing issues.

The Shoreline property is a dump! They seem to be concentrating more on the sister property, coincidentally where the office is. They took the office from our building. We even have to go to the sister property to fill the laundry card. A request for maintenance made two years ago is still undone. Took a year for another to be done. The mailboxes don't close so your mail isn't secure. No landscaping. No cleaning crew for the halls and windows. Water leaks on the walls for years and still not painted. Torn stair carpeting. No bike rack. The units are so hot in the winter you leave the window open. When I asked what could be done they told me to use my air conditioner! And it's just getting worse. Yes the new management company has made some improvements but the property is still declining. And forget trying to talk to someone. One of the office staff has a serious attitude problem. Unfortunately with a tight rental market they will stay full but if you have options, DO NOT MOVE HERE!

Living at Lakecrest Shoreline apartment is great. The location is convenient, the value for the money given the size of the apartment is also good. Been here for 3 years now. Maintenance respond when you ask for them. Laundry room is good, could use an additional machine, and a way to reload the laundry card onsite instead of driving to the main office, but not a big deal, the area is nice to drive around and enjoy some fresh air. the view of the lake from the stairs is amazing. parking is not an issue, would prefer a designated spot for residents system and one for visitors. it is also great if the existing spots had a bicycle stand. I would not mind paying for a covered spot with bicycle stand space and electric vehicle charging outlets if made available in the future, mailboxes are small so that part can be something to improve on in the long run or even make it part of the covered parking spot. ok so what we have now is a blessing compared to other places in the area so am happy with it. Thank you Lakecrest apartments management team and maintenance team.

Garbage. Plain and simple. The is NO maintenance and anyone who said there is must have been paid. They never fix anything and if by some miracle they do, it's poor work. The new management is absolute trash as well. They don't give a crap about the people or quality of living and are extremely rude. It's all about money and they find ways of making it add up for you. When there are issues their solution is for you to spend money. They have even been the cause of damage and they could care less about the damaged room. Doesn't matter to them you have mold and holes. The windows on some rooms are just terrible and don't close or are falling off, I've seen it both ways. It is always a million degrees in there, people always have their windows open; felt sorry for the first floor people. I'm not quite sure what the "view" is. Always big piles of dog poop everywhere. Sad times.

Lakecrest is a great place to live. I enjoy having family and friends visit, as we are near downtown. They are making upgrades to apartments and making the living community more up to date. Staff and maintenance are friendly and quick to respond if there is an issue. I have enjoyed living here at Lakecrest and would recommend it to others.

I wish I would 've done my homework and checked the reviews before moving into this high profile dump. Yes, I have a view of the lake but that's where any luxury in this building ends. The management and staff are not helpful and the property supervisor is a rude piece of baggage. Black mold, noise, smells like rotten fruit in my apartment all the time, and the management is dismissive. But very argumentative over small petty issues. Ms. Jeanine is very rude and she doesn't mind losing good tenants because the money is not coming out of her pocket. But I've seen how many vacancies come and go. Wish I would've done my homework sooner before I am locked into a long term unforgiving lease.

The staff is friendly and helpful. Problems get solved quickly and efficiently. I haven't had many problems while I have stayed here and the few I have had were taken care of even if maintenance was not working.

This is a HORRIBLE APARTMENT TO RENT FROM. NOT ONLY DID I HAVE BLACK MOLD! I HAD A LEAK IN MY CEILING FOR MONTHS THEY NEGLECTED. Not to mention how HOT it was all the time in the unit even in winter months. Continued running my AC THROUGH FEBRUARY. Landlord lady Jeanette VERY rude and not helpful at ALL. also had a gun go off near my unit into another apartment. So needless to say go ahead if your fine with leaks black mold guns and pricks.!

I've lived at Lakecrest Shoreline since September 2017. I cannot wait to leave, I am literally counting down the days. I heard not so pleasant of things about this property, but I needed a place to live ASAP, so went ahead and tried it because it was so reasonable. I can't get my apartment to not be a blazing hot oven. I have had to use my AC all winter and it barely makes a dent. I have had my windows open many a 30º night (especially since my AC froze up because its obviously too cold to run AC). My upstair's neighbor's toilet overflowed. How do I know? Well the toilet-water waterfall pouring from my bathroom's vent was a pretty clear indication. After placing a maintenance request alerting the property of this issue, they told me there wasn't much they could do. They replaced something upstairs and that was it. My apartment now smells mildewy and awful, and I wouldn't be surprised if mold was involved. (PS: Other friends who've lived at this property reported similar toilet-overflow situations happening to them, so if you do live here, request the third floor..) On top of that all, I pay my rent on time, all of the time. They recently switched management companies (with NO NOTICE, btw. I had mail coming to my apartment that couldn't be delivered because there is no longer an office on the property, you have to drive to LakeCrest Ravine's office to get any packages) and there was a mysterious credit to my account. Tried to call - said they would figure it out and call me back. Two weeks later I get a voicemail threatening me to report me to lawyers for not paying rent - that I couldn't pay due to said credit on the account. I got charged a late fee (whatever I guess.) My building currently has a missing door in the hallway (more than a few weeks) - which is HUGE FIRE HAZARD. And the exit sign has also been out of commission above said door for even longer. No one cares about this apartment complex, no one cares about you as a tenant, and when you do need something you get attitude and rude interactions.

Do not move here! The new management is terrible!!!! The manager will not respond to your emails and when you call her she will chew you out and not let you get a word in. My entire building has not had a door bell for over 2 years now. They do not give dates to when they will come into your unit. Maintenance is terribly slow. This place had to cut a hole into my wall because they thought there was a leak (which there wasn't!) and when their drywall people came to fix the hole, they used one of my kitchen knifes to trim a piece of dry wall!! They had tools in their van but apparently they were too lazy to go downstairs and get what they needed. I called the office about what they did, and of course they did nothing about it. Do not move here. The office manager will run you down for rent payment but is not willing to spend money to fix any issues.

I recently moved out of Lakecrest Ravine. I lived there from 2017 to 2020. -There is an unhealthy heat from September to May from the boiler that even in the death of winter you have to be with the windows open and/or AC. -Smell of marihuana getting in my apartment from next door neighbor smoking in her bathroom coming to my bathroom through her bathroom vent. -Smell of people smoking right at the entrance door and their cigarette butts thrown right at the entrance. -People leaving bags with dog poop around the parking lot. Full of poops from dog owners not picking up. No cameras outside to fine those people that are not picking up after their dogs. -Dirty all over, inside the halls, the stairs, the laundry room, the parking lot, no matter where you look. It is not well kept outside. -Laundry room has never worked all the units the same time. People using the washers and dryers and leaving their clothes for hours, even overnight. Unless you take the clothes off the machine, you have to wait. -Very noisy neighbors, music, TVs full blast, the police have been there quite a few times. Once, a police officer asked me (I was getting into the front door) if I had heard a gun shut. I actually did, and it was scary to know it was right there. -Scary at night because of poor visibility in the parking lot, not well lighted and no cameras. -In two years my rent went up $95.00 after new management arrived. -Management was terrible when I moved and a new manager, Jeannette came on board and she was the rudest person. She treated tenants like trash. Her and her staff were the worst. I was very sorry I moved there. I regretted it so many times…. New management came and changed slightly, not much though. The people in the office now, some have no customer skills, specially M. No return calls or emails. They treat tenants like 2nd class citizens not realizing that they get a paycheck because of the people living there. People in the Corporate office are not much better. -When I left, they kept a small amount of my deposit because of prorated rent, and utilities when I had already paid the full month rent at the beginning of the month. I sent them an email in regards to that, but needless to say that they have not returned my email. My advice is, think twice before moving to Lakecrest.

My daughter rented from both the Lakecrest Ravine and Lakecrest Shoreline. She had a bad experience at both. The most recent was a flood in her regional manager told me her apartment was cleaned up and back to original condition within two days. I had to take pictures and email the pictures to show the place was not done - more than 2 weeks later. The local manager was nice but didn't have any authority to try to make it right. The upper management team and owners just didn't seem to care.

Very crappy management!! Have major attitude with tenants. In the beginning I would personally hand rent checks to office person. Was just told not to that again. I was to drop off checks in drop box only. Guess they don't want us in the office complaining. They also demanded proof of registration of my car and proof of renters insurance. For slum lords that don't keep their own property up, pretty darn nervy. No one can buzz me because my apartment because the numbers have worn off. So I get buzzed all the time. The mailboxes are falling out of the wall. The exterior hasn't been done since the 60s. Parking lot is pot hole hell.

There was mold in the window sill and shower, and the door and lock was broken. They said they would fix all of these things but they didn't fix them. There were many other things they said they would address but never did, no matter how much follow up we communicated. The communication on their behalf was terrible. There were many managers, and they all didn't care. They confused facts with each other. One time, a manager said we had a 2 bedroom apartment reserved, then we called to check on it and she said someone erased the whiteboard and the reservation was gone, they gave it to someone else. There were 7 managers over 2 years, and the organization was horrible. I tried to buy out my life, and they're currently stating that I didn't do a 60 buy-out agreement. I informed the manager and then 2 months later, a new manager came and the new one stated that I didn't inform them that I was moving out ahead of time (not true, I wrote a letter to them). They will threaten you with hurting your credit score if you don't pay, even though I already paid. I can't even get anyone to address the issue with me. If you're considering Lakecrest Ravine, DO NOT live there! You will be given headaches, and you will not be taken care of. They'll find a way to screw you out of money no matter how much you cover your bases. Get everything in writing with them, because it will come back around due to their horrible organization and management. Never live here -- you will regret it.

I was hesitant to give Lakecrest a chance but was presently surprised at the quality of the property. Management was friendly and knowledgeable and the units were nicely done and bigger than expected. Any maintenance issues have been quickly cared for and found the prices and size to be comparable to others in the city. Keep up the good work!!

Horrible management. They are slow, rude and insensitive to the needs of their tenants. No one responds to maintenance requests or communicates with tenants. Repairs such as laundry rooms, windows, plumbing and paint are really slow. The place is old and management doesn't take an interest in keeping things working. Emergency situations are not dealt with urgently. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Talk to at least three current residents before moving in to get a clear picture of what to expect.

I normally don't write reviews. But in this case, I wasn't morally right to not let others know of the horror of living at Lakecrest Shoreline. I was a tenant for a year. In that time, I had a hole in my bathroom above the shower, caused by a leak where they had to remove the drywall and all that was hanging was drywall bits and insulation. They left that hole above my shower for 2 months with no repair. Every time i put in a request, i had no response. My dishwasher was broken for 3 months. I put in over 11 work orders in those 3 months. Every time i was told they would be coming to fix it, and never did. On multiple occasions, they would enter my apartment with no notice to me as the tenant, and no prior authorization from myself saying it was ok for them to enter. (Once i was in the shower when it happened) (SCARY!) When i addressed my concerns with the staff, the office, as well as the corporate office in Boston, i was advised that it was "Their Property" and that they would enter when they needed to. (even though my lease stated differently) . Zero privacy. I kept a chair under the handle of my door every night because i was worried someone would just walk in! They came in for city inspections a few months before i moved out, They removed the fire detectors from both rooms in my apartment, and never put them back. Even when i asked them to. Overall, Sincerely , the worst experience i have ever had. I was never valued as a tenant. The District manager from Boston showed 0 empathy or care, treated me just like a number and was as condescending as a person could be. I had a break-in in June. And when i tried to address the this with the office, i received no call backs and no response. I filed with the police, and the police advised me it was unsafe to continue living there. So i moved out a month before my lease was done. (mind you, still paying rent so as not to break MY end of the lease) But again, no concern whatsoever from their staff. I write this review with no biased. (Despite the horrible experience) I write this review in the hopes that if you, the next possible tenant is reading this, you will understand that this is the worst possible place you could live in, i would not wish this hell on another person ever. Please , don't live here, don't put yourself in the stress of wondering if someone will come into your home and space when you don't know they are there, don't live in a place where the office staff doesn't care about your needs or issues, despite always being a good tenant and paying rent on time. Because to them. You will just be another number. And as long as you live there. They will never care about your well being.

Just a Horrible and unpleasant experience overall. Our time with living at Lakecrest Shoreline apartment began on January 2014, we thought because of the location it was going to be a great experience and professional staff but we were wrong. The leasing office representative/Manager at the time asked us for a move of $600 dollars to move in and $600 deposit, I was pretty shocked they wanted that much but hey we gave it to them anyways. They informed us before move in that we would end up getting the $600 deposit back but once again we were wrong. Throughout the course of living there, one I had a newborn and it is the most noises location you can pick. The have trucks flying by all day since they are located right next to Whirlpool's factory/truck delivery place,so you can't have the windows open, the dump truck came a crazy hours and was extremely loud. Second the water was constantly being cut off, heat hardly worked in the winter, and the " new windows" they installed had horrible cold drafts, felt i was living outside all winter, and had to beg for a space heater. Wow I tell you, it was very disturbing to believe this went on for an entire year. Third comes the most unprofessional leasing office staff and some maintenance workers I ever met. MY GOSH, We seen three different leasing staff get hired and quite, then come to find out that we had a new Property Manager and never knew until I had to go into the office to talk in person with someone since they Stopped answering the phones! NEVER ANSWERED THE PHONES BUT THEY SAID THEY WERE IN THE OFFICE, WHATEVER, JUS RIDICULOUS! Then finally comes move out time, BOY OH BOY this was mortifying and such a dreadful time for us just to move out. We officially moved out mid month of Dec 2015, I went down to the office to fill out this silly form that same week, Leasing staff told me even though we will be moving out early, I could still put down our origianl move out dat (OUR OFFICIAL MOVE OUT DATE which was January 15, 2016 ) and still be okay with no charges and get out FULL RENT DEPOSIT BACK! LIARS, LIARS, LiARS. AS OF FEB 15, 2016 WE NEVER RECEIVED OUR FULL DEPOSIT, THEY NEVER ANSWERED OUT PHONE CALLS, AND ON TOP OF THAT COME TO FIND OUT THEY ARE SENDING US LESS THAN WHAT THEY TOLD US. OH YES DID I FORGET TO MENTION THEY CHARGED US $300 SOMETHING DOLLARS FOR THE DAYS IN JANUARY WE DIDNT LIVE THEIR, CRAZY HUH!!! AND THEY WONT TELL YOU WHAT THEY CHARGE YOU FOR EITHER! SO I can say, I would recommend you search long and hard for another location, LAKECREST COMPANY IS TERRIBLE, AND YOU WILL GETTED CHEATED!

Do not live here. The apartments are in okay shape but the customer service is awful. With the exception of Lauren, the office staff is completely incompetent. I had to put in my move out notice 5 times before they put it on my account, I was charged $68 worth of late fees because they told me an incorrect balance and then refused to take off the late fee following the acknowledgement of their error. I have 3 open maintenance requests, dating back 8 months, that their only response is "we will get to it as soon as possible". These people are lazy and incompetent and you will regret living here if customer service is something you value.

They are an "un-official" section 8 .... The owners live out of state and are True SLUMLORDS. Do your research and google them, look at all the other slums they own across the U.S. I can't believe the beautiful city of St.Joe allows this kind of trash. It must not take a lot to pass city codes, I think all you need is a smoke detector .. (Working or not).
