AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Cedar Trace has been nothing but a nightmare. First They lack communication, I applied for an apartment in early June 2025, Once my application got approved we got a move in date of June 18th. After renting a Uhaul and taking PTO they called the day before and moved it back a week. This made me cancel the Uhaul and lose money and the lost day of PTO. The following week which was the date they gave us AGAIN they pushed it back another week. After the 3rd week and another cancellation they tried putting us in a townhome for the same price but the catch is we would have to wait another week. Of course I said no and wanted to move forward with the refund process after being strung along for 3 weeks with ZERO communication. It took me having to waste time out of my day and go in person every other day to make sure I was getting what little updates I could. The only way to get a refund was to talk to Joe Randoll. After not being given his cell the best I could do was email. I emailed Joe twice to try and get this process started. NO ANSWER. It took me coming in person AGAIN and him just happening to be there to get the process started. Finally after over a full MONTH of dealing with this place I got my refund today. The only person who consistently tried her best to communicate was Shyell Brown. She was a light in this dark tunnel of despair when dealing with Cedar trace. She was always quick to return emails/calls and had a great attitude with the poor management she had to deal with! Overall I would avoid this place at ALL COSTS due to the poor management from Tierra Tyson and Joe Randoll combined.

Just Don't
If you are considering this complex, just don't. This place truly is a dump and is treated like such. Between bugs, the poor upkeep of the units and the disrespectful staff, it not worth it. You can find somewhere else that may be a bit more pricer however at least your money will be respected. Here, you are paying for what you get. Staff lies as well as maintenance. They patch up everything instead of actually addressing the issues that need to be fixed. If you come here, you'll be paying for a headache.... only. I bet if the management group knew the staff that was running this place, they would fire everyone and just start over. From the leasing apartment manager down to the maintenance. This place is truly a regret.

I don’t know about this one
6 years as a resident and the only positive I can say is that Cedar Trace offers sizable townhomes. Other than that, it’s like the owners nor management actually cares about tenants or property. Squirrels are in the roof spaces, dog spots never have puppy waste bags, pool is never open for the summer and the gym is never cleaned, maintenance is unreliable because they close work orders and when they say they are coming to complete a task, they’ll “call but no show”. Keep in mind that if you are not present when they are working they will fine you $25. Tierra the property manager has a poor attitude when it comes to communications and problem solving. 1 star because they aren’t overbearing and bother you but they also are not the type that are willing to help and problem solve

worst maintenance and too old apartments
Maintenance is worse, and they won't respond to your calls and requests. finally when you are vacating they won't give your deposit back. i have stayed one year and paid 2 months deposits. All unnecessary charges they will add and will not give back not even single penny. won't suggest this bad community apartments are too old.

Poor Maintenance, Dirty Facilities, and Overpriced Move-Out Charges The maintenance here is a disaster – appliances break down frequently, and common areas are consistently dirty. To add insult to injury, when I moved out, I was slapped with exorbitant fees for “cleaning servicesâ€� that I was not made aware of during pre-walk before lease end date. They never paid Referral to anyone. It feels like they find every possible way to charge you extra. I regret moving in here and would advise prospective tenants to think twice. I was stunned to find additional fees for “cleaningâ€� and “repairsâ€� that I felt were normal wear and tear and seemed excessive and were not mentioned in the lease agreement. The management is unhelpful and unresponsive when it comes to clarifying these issues. This apartment complex needs a complete overhaul in both service and transparency. The lease terms were not clearly communicated, and I’ve encountered numerous hidden fees since moving in. The management is unhelpful when it comes to clarifying these issues. Be cautious and read the fine print if you’re considering this place and be prepared for unexpected charges upon moving out.

Worst experience with this apartments. Staff is very lazy to take the complaints about the maintenance. If its emergency also they won't care that. Simply they will mark as completed and done about issue without resolving.

SCAMMERS. Not low rental fee at all. $500 admin fee for renting apartment + $350 application fee. Your security deposit is also fully taken away for no reason at all. 3 MONTH notice to move out is just ridiculous. when you go to complain about maintenance services all they say is "if you do not like staying cancel rental agreement with paying $2000 penalty".

MONEY SUCKERS... Worst leasing office management, definitely you will regrate after signing your leasing. No one cares about your apartment issues in leasing office, their main goal is to suck money from residents. Worst management, Worst maintenance, Worst apartments. Before leasing please take the opinion from current residents.

Stinky apartments. Zero maintenance and when repairs are needed there is no response. Be ready to pay fines in thousands when you end the lease. Black mold everywhere and they just paint on top of it and rent again.

It terrible place to live in… in Feb 2020, I received a lease renewal letter from cedar where they increase my rent by saying they will replace my apartment windows. Since then, I am following with them, by raising maintenance requests for the same but they are not responding to it and closing request after some days. It is really pathetic behavior the team has here. They do not care about tenant complaints. They like to raise the rent but not give such good amenities. The location is good so they are taking advantage of having it in a good school district. I don’t know when my windows get change. How much money do they want for such an old dwelling they have without upgrades. 27-Sep-2021, After posting my experience here, one maintenance person visited our apartment asking about issues with windows. When we remind him about lease renewal information, he went back and close my service request on their portal. Also as per the comment on my review, I email all information to " ResidentServicesSTL" but I didn't get any response back yet. It is such a shame that people just like to keep their image clean without providing valuable service. I would say it is cherry on top of shame when I received service request closure notification with the text " Thank you for being a valued resident at Cedar Trace! We would like to inform you about the completion of your maintenance request. It is our goal to exceed your expectation, and ensure you are satisfied." Such pathetic behavior....

You can feel the Homeless experience in winter and summer tooo, Worst windows. No one cares about your complaints in leasing office, Pathetic maintenance. for below issues I am Raising complaints from last year, till now no action taken. Most of the units having the same issue. Lot of negative reviews have been deleted. Don't dare to lease in cedar Trace.

When I moved from a single bed to 2 bed in cedar trace, I have requested Spire people to start my spire account by providing all the details but somehow they sent my spire bill to cedar trace landlord which I paid while paying my monthly rent through resident portal. Later I spoke to Spire people and they asked me to clear the full amount of the past months' bill (which I already paid to cedar trace management through the resident portal) and said I need to get my amount from the management by showing all the invoices from the spire. It's been one year I keep on sending emails to the cedar trace manager and assistant manager every week and calling monthly once. Every time some new person will pick the call I have to explain all the story that happened at the end they will tell me they gonna follow up but later I am not hearing anything from them. I fed up with sending emails, making calls, and going in person to the leasing office about this issue. They are very careless I have never seen such careless management. I have been writing many emails and creating many maintenance requests for one year about my electric gas stove which will stop working in the middle of cooking something. Every time someone will come and turn it on for 2 minutes and telling it seems working fine we can not replace it until it stops working completely and going. Yesterday while using the stove one of the burners (Coil) got a blast which created a lot of fire with full of smoke and sparkles. When this incident happened I was with my one-year-old kid who is playing nearby, who will respond if something happened because of their negligence. If I tell you like this there are many things. They do not care about residents' needs.

Maintenance sucks here, I called and emailed about a dark hallway and ended up changing the lightbulb myself. They also lie about their fees and tell you about hidden fees once you sign the lease. They also play the blame game, basically saying that someone else told you, like they have no control over what their staff is telling the residents/potential residents.

They tried to lie and say I lied about a balance I owed a previous apartment just so they can keep my 250 deposit!! i checked no for an eviction because IVE NEVER BEEN EVICTED IN MY LIFE FROM ANYWHERE. I however, explained away a balance. they took that as a free for all...like ok we will deny her and keep the money and thank God because I got approved by a realty company after that! i did the same thing on their application and after VERIFICATION, i was approved!! these CRIMNIALS STOLE MY MONEY BASICALLY 250$ I worked hard for. Im a mother so they basically stole from my child as well. FORGET NOT RENTING, DO NOT EVEN APPLY TO THESE CROOKS!! I did and look what it got me, out of my hard earned money, i regret it!

So here is the deal with these ------ apartments owned by Cedar Trace. They are owned and managed by this giant horrible company that could care less about their tenants. The 300 dollar apartment application fee is ridiculous and a total waste of money. I was in a time crunch and I had just took a new job in St Louis. Sadly I did not even have time to look at the building before I moved into it. The pictures on the web site are completely fake and not of the actual apartments you rent form these low life business criminals. I was totally fooled by the bogus web site pictures into believing that it would be a good quality building. Then the management tricked me into signing the lease before even showing me the place. These apartments are literal rat holes. They are not even cleaned before you move into them. I was horrified when I moved in! My place was filthy from dirt and dust. I had to literally clean it top to bottom myself! Yet they try to charge tenants hundreds of extra dollars for fake "cleaning fees" when their leases are finished. Half of the electrical outlets in my place do not work! There are bizarre electrical problems in the building due to antique outlets and wiring that never had any attention in the last decades. There is literal Mold in the bathroom sink drain and shower drain. I could do nothing about that as the drains and areas around them are ancient age wise. I did replace the shower head and sink handles myself because it was so disgusting. I have real allergies to Mold! I had to pay out of my own pocket to do these home repairs myself. There are only a very few actual maintenance guys and they do not have nearly enough time to try to fix all of the many problems with these old disgusting apartments. The owners would need to hire more staff. They probably also pay them slave wages so their level of caring also reflects their crappy salaries. The management is nice and courteous but terrible and again it is not really their fault. They are wonderful people but have no tools, resources, or money to fix these broken down pieces of filth apartments. The management is also most likely poorly paid and sadly they can not do much for the people living in these dumps. The company that owns them would have to make major renovations and spend a lot of money to make these places anywhere close to decent. As of right now they simply take advantage of immigrant ------- who just arrived to America, do not know any better, and do not have transportation to go to their IT jobs in offices right down the highway. For just about 200 Dollars more you could get a much nicer and newer place somewhere else or drive 10-15 minutes and find a much nicer location as well. I MADE A HUGE MISTAKE RENTING WITH THIS COMPANY! Also their lease is full of disgusting exploitation and lots of confusing articles about charging you lots of extra money. Trying to break the lease is nearly impossible. It would cost you more than just staying to live there for the remainder of the lease. For my lease I would need to pay a total of 4 months' rent just to leave in peace. After the first year the lease does not automatically go to monthly which is insane and unheard of in the housing rental business. I should have avoided this place at all costs. Anything owned by Monarch Management is a horrendous choice! I would love to file a class action law suit against Monarch Management...

Property owned by monarch management, cedar trace is Horrific and the problems caused due to apartment & management is inexcusable. I want to give zero rating as i have been giving complaints from day one and nothing is resolved. 1. Water leakage in restroom and kitchen because of Management laundry. When complained they never took seriously as a result it drowned my kitchen & restroom. 2. What made me more embarrassing is the response from management you are only getting laundry water to your home instead of saying we will stop it. 3. We faced issues with refrigerator, Dishwasher, kitchen dispenser as well, so they just planted all refurbished pieces in apartments as a cover which breaks within no time. 4. When i asked about change in apartment they asked me to pay extra 500$ for transfer and 2000$ for breakage. They caused the problem not solving it. Don't join/ lease in apartment managed by monarch. They are bad to my knowledge as i have leased around 5 apartments before who are quite responsible.

Stay far far away! I wish I would have read these comments before moving in and completed more research. I believe they are very raciest against white people. They tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to sign a lease with them but then from pest control to fixing your own maintenance issues because all they do is mask the issue instead of really fixing it to save money.. For example, you have an emergency in your apartment it's really not an emergency to them but let you be an hour late on your rent and omgish the end of the world happened.t. They say a problem is solved when it is not. Charging for pest control. For what? You actually have to keep your buildings clean before pest control can help. The management is horrible, with NO skills. Do not even try to understand their online payment viewing system as it's there to cause you anxiety and want to kill yourself just looking at it and trying to understand what you really owe if you happen to be late. I have already contacted the housing authority, MO states attorneys office and a lawyer to get me out of this contract and if I was you and living there I would be getting a a lawyer too to file complaints.

A horrible place to live. They will respond to public posts as caring when they are not. Upper management is horrible and they have a high turn over at the office staff. Low pay, horrible place. Mold! Mold in the pool too. AC runs all the time. 300$ bill

I've been staying here since may 2018, I have raised close to 13 maintenance work orders for multiple problems, without solving maintenance requests staff is closing the work orders.My dishwasher is not working for more than 10 days no one is responding properly.I have raised the issue from day one they partially fixed the problem and again it started creating problem no one is responding. It's not only Dishwasher it took more than 2 months to handover the patio keys after move in and at last after multiple follow ups they gave the keys that too the keys they gave works hardly and they are asking for lease renewal 4 months ahead of lease expiry. Please don't prefer this community

After staying in Cedar for 3+ years below few things First of all the buildings are pretty old so its quite obvious the windows and doors are not sound proof and the management is not ready to accept it and do something for that. Once i heard they saying please adjust, why do i need to? I asked why my bedroom is not getting enough AC and for that they told it is because the wall is directly facing to the road and they can't do anything for that, so weird... In winter its going to be vice versa and end-up paying too much for gas and electricity.. Kitchen and bathroom fixes are all broken and they won't fix it even you follow with them 10 times. Can hear lot of noise from the AC machine as well from the Vents as they are aged than me and not maintained and the service person will argue that he is not hearing any noise and particularly if you are female, he wont even hear you.. yes my wife faced it multiple times and i stopped raising tickets as they are not at all friendly. Most of us choose Cedar due to below reasons 1) Walkable distance to the shops 2) Great community, can't fell lonely But it is time to change, we are not walking to shops all the year, i use to go to shop by walk once a month or so, most of the time i use to go by car. So no point in this. Community is something we residents build, so get your friends to some good new apartments and create a good community there... can't let these people to take residents for granted... still am living there as am trapped in the lease, waiting to get it over by this year end and never even turn this side. Last, some will say the rent is less... not at all... it is almost same compared with any other good apartments. It might be bit lesser for anyone comes new and very next year they will increase $50 saying it is the market price and it will go on for every year. Horrible carpets, i upgraded to bigger apartment recently and i showed them almost 6 stains across the apartments. And i raised almost close to 16 requests and few are fixed and few yes am still adjusting and waiting for the lease term... Mena kumar in the leasing office is the only good thing i can say as she use to help in expediting the issues and hear the concern.
