It's nice and quiet but too expensive for what it is. Charging a monthly fee for washer and drier is shady. I had multiple severe water leaks in my apartment and they just painted over the mold and water stains.

Even though the apartments are older, they are well maintained. Any issue i have had with maintenance has been responded to promptly. My apartment is on the river side which is very tranquil. My only complaint is with the downstairs neighbor who is a smoker (both tobacco and weed) and the smell travels into my apartment.

Generally clean and safe complex. The walls are a little thin, I can hear when any of my neighbors play music, especially if they use a subwoofer or are listening to something in the bathroom. Typically all neighbors respect the 10pm-7am quiet hours.

I have lived here for two months, haven't had any problems yet. Relatively chill complex, easy access to the Chapel Hill bus system, and office is generally staffed on weekdays if you have an issue. Solid for the price.

My husband and I have been living here since may 2021 we love living here because we don't have much complaints especially about our neighbors because for the most part our neighbors have been quiet and respectful to us. The complaint that we have is about maintenance because our apartment is one of the older ones so most naturally it requires more maintenance and whenever we put in work orders it takes them some time to get to us. We would like them to be more efficient. However it's not a deal breaker for us as we do enjoy living here it's a mature community and that's why we're here this long.

This place is a maintenance shitshow. My first month here half of it was spent with broken AC, days later they gave me a portable AC unit that leaked, which they had the nerve to tell me later that it blew cold air so it was fine. I'm not talking a small leak, it was unusable and I had to use all my towels to mop up the giant puddle it left. Horrible communication, I never knew when they went into my apartment or what they did, I just found a mess they left. Portable AC unit put up with literal duct tape and cardboard. They fixed the AC when I was out of town for the week, left the porch door open with the portable unit, so I air conditioned the outside leaving me with a $140 energy bill for the month. Had to go in person, email, and call to get them to fix my screen door, which I had to realign myself later. Every single interaction for maintenance has been frustrating. I know they are short-staffed, but the actual jobs being done are done so haphazardly I wouldn't ask them for anything unless it made my apartment actually unusable.

Very comfortable apartment, excellent location, huge balconies, and very good staff. The grounds are clean and well maintained except for the disgusting trash areas. The sign that warns of constant video surveillance is a lie, and random trucks regularly fill the dumpsters to overflowing. Animals rip the bags open, so there's trash everywhere around the dumpsters. They don't seem to care about disabled residents because the handicapped ramps are usually blocked by cars and aren't anywhere near the handicapped parking spaces. And they don't seem to care about their staff since the manager's office has been moved from a welcoming model apartment into a cramped little room by the pool with nothing but hard stools for prospective visitors to sit on.

I live in Apt F-2, down on the lower end. I had a great impression of the place, but some things you have to learn by living there. Three problems: noisy heat/ air pumps outside my window at times keep me awake. The one next to my window probably needs servicing, since on very cold nights when it runs a lot it makes a higher pitch noise. It tends to wake me up at times from a deep sleep. Second, noise from upstairs due to people walking, etc creates a creaky ceiling. Now I know what those funny lines in the ceiling are about. Could this be due to structural weakness, improper installation? Third, there is a crazy guy living next door perhaps, behind me or down on the lower end. At night this guy is sometimes outside, or inside also shouting, "Yeouowh! Yeouowh!" Some crazy inarticulate yelping that is always the same, suggesting mental retardation, or some possible brain syndrome or illness. I called the police back in December, they couldn't locate the guy. Since then I have realized that he lives here somewhere. I tend to laugh now when I hear the guy, but he is noisy anywhere from 10 pm on into the morning hours at times. It must be hard for his family to live with the poor fellow. I have sympathy for him, but wish there was a cure...

It's been terrible. The first community management in place was great and reasonable. The property was sold off, and ever since we have been nickel and dimed, had our rent raised, had terrible management, and had an enormous amount of negative interactions with whatever company is assigned to manage this property that year. I've had repeated issues with office staff not getting back to me, not fixing issues in a lease pre-signature, and I've been directly lied to in writing that communication was sent out about maintenance, and received acknowledgement of those lies. Those people were terminated and management switched out. We still continued to have critical issues with maintenance and communication, leading all the way up to Bryten's takeover of the management duties which were also not communicated. This led me to using contact channels that were deprecated, and led to me being assessed a late fee because I had no way to address issues with my payment portal. Bryten also saw fit to appoint Tara Hyman to its office management, an individual who was highly abrasive and borderline combative with your residents. I address this from my own experience, but also having spoken with other residents about this. Whoever replaced her has been obviously better and addressed some maintenance issues I was having, but I haven't needed anything since. Note that the ratings that follow this reflect the totality of my experience here, not directly the new maintenance staff or new office staff.

I've lived at Chambers Ridge for nine years, but sadly will not be renewing my lease this year. It's a safe community to call home, and until recently, has been fairly quiet. However, with the high rate increases on the apartments ($900 for a one-bedroom in a building that was constructed in 1985 with walls that are so thin you can hear your neighbor's conversations, dogs barking, even gaming from those who play at 2:00 and 3:00 in the morning), there has been a change in dynamics where this does not seem to be a complex that is catered more to the professional and/or grad students, but the tenants are younger and younger and louder and louder with very little regard to neighbors. It was a great community when I first moved here in 2010. Very quiet and dogs were walked on leashes and their droppings were picked up and properly disposed of. Now, tenants let their dogs run freely behind the buildings and do not pick up after them and it sounds like a dog kennel here more than an apartment a lot of days. However, my move is truly based on the high rent and nothing to show for it. The staff here is great, by the way. There has been a complete turn over in staff this year, but even the new people seem to be nice. This just isn't the quality of place it was five...six years ago. Rents have skyrocketed but the quality has spiraled downward. Back to rent....by the time one pays nearly $900 for a one bedroom apartment (2nd floor) and the added water bill (billed third party) and garbage fees each month, it is nearly $950 just for the rent. This does not include the expensive Piedmont Electric bill that is almost always at least $120 or more....no matter how much you conserve....for a one bedroom. With the buildings being so old, I doubt they are very energy efficient. However, I do think the appliances are. The complex does seem to pride itself in the nice pool area, which is very nice, if that's what you're looking for. It's not a bad place to live, other than the high rent and increased noise level by younger tenants. I still recommend it, though...just based on safety. It is a safe place to live.

We lived at Chambers Ridge for over 3 years and truly enjoyed our time there. The complex is managed by responsive and friendly people. The residents are respectful and quiet. The unit we lived in was updated, spacious, and attractive. It's a lovely and safe place to live!

I lived at Chambers Ridge for only a year, and it was a great experience. Maegan, Matt, and the rest of the staff were very friendly, accessible, and responsive. Not much noise traveled between apartments and, if it did, it was muffled. Great, spacious porch, easy access to the bus lines into Chapel Hill and Carrboro. No problems with bugs. Overall, a very relaxing place to live, would recommend.

I love it here at Chambers Ridge because it is quiet and tucked away in the woods, yet close enough to drive, bus or walk into the town of Carrboro within minutes. The manager is amazing - Maegan keeps on top of everything and works hard to create monthly community gatherings that give us a chance to get to know each other and our community better. Matt is an awesome maintenance guy - prompt, courteous, and gets the problem solved quickly. Even though this is an older community, the apartments are kept nice and clean. We enjoy the fact that this is a 21 and over community, so we don't get the college freshmen like so many other apartment complexes nearby.

Warning: these are SMOKING apartments. The smoking policy was not clearly explained to me when I signed my lease, and I suppose you could say it's my fault for not reading the fine print - smoking is allowed, and management is not required to do anything about secondhand smoke. The smoking issue has been a huge detractor from my experience at Chambers Ridge. I have two neighbors who smoke, and our apartment will regularly reek of stale cigarettes. We have contacted management, and they say there is nothing they can do. I just have to get used to the constant odor and headaches from secondhand smoke. It pains me to write a negative review like this, because other than the smoke our experience here has been great - they're really nice apartments for the price, management is friendly and typically very helpful (apart from the smoke issue...), and the location is great. Bottom line - good apartments if you are a smoker (or don't mind secondhand smoke), not good if you are bothered by secondhand smoke/ stale cigarette smell.

For almost ten years I was a resident of Chambers Ridge Apartments and I can say that it is one of the best places that I can call home. The apartments are well-maintained and spacious and the complex is ideally located for someone whose work involves UNC and who wishes to live close, but in a quiet community. Also, the management staff are very helpful and accommodating. After leaving the area for work, I will certainly have fond memories of having been a resident there.

Beautiful and quiet grounds. Great location for a graduate student who's ready to upgrade from the usual undergrad locations. Maintenance and management staff are simply the best I've ever had over 5+ years of renting. Friendly, extremely professional, and lightning fast. Even non-emergency maintenance requests are usually completed within 48 hours. Price is good for the area. Easy access to a grocery stores, downtown Carrboro, and free bus lines.

I lived in Chambers Ridge for three years while working at UNC. It is conveniently located to three bus lines (CM, J, JFX) with easy access to campus. Despite an older property the grounds and pool are well taken care of (brand new pool furniture purchased a year ago). The property managers and maintenance staff are excellent - everything gets fixed in a timely fashion. The apartments and neighbors are generally quiet (not many students) and it is a peaceful place to live in an excellent neighborhood. I would recommend Chambers Ridge to anyone!

I LOVE my apartment!!! It is close to UNC and is on the CM bus route which goes everywhere I need on campus. The maintenance has always been fast and the office staff are ridiculously nice. The 2 bedroom is great for me and my roommate because the bedrooms have alot of space between and we really only have to share a kitchen and living room. I never hear her unless I want and that is all you can really ask for. The parties that the office put on every month are also a nice bonus!

I've been living here for almost a year now and love it! The manager is very friendly and helpful. She always takes the time to talk to me The property always looks clean and pretty. It's very quiet and super convenient to shopping and nearby parks. Our neighbors are friendly and nice. Maintenance is always fast and helpful. They also just put in these new, super bright lights everywhere and it makes me feel much safer at night. Overall, I really love living here.

I have lived at Chambers Ridge for a couple of years. When I first moved here, it was a very nice complex; however, it has gone downhill, VERY QUICKLY! Over the past year, the grounds have gone neglected; the garbage piles up so badly at the the outside containers that the odor becomes unbearable; there are weeks/months that pass where large appliances and furniture remain behind the outside dumpster that make it an eyesore, not to mention a safety hazard; the drainage is terrible here and management does nothing to improve the ponds (forget puddles) of water that form on the walk ways that tenants are forced to walk through when the rains come; the breezeways are never power washed so the outside bugs and last year's pollen are all accumulated and just breeding for next year's to join them; there is absolutely no pride in this property from management anymore. NONE!!! And the noise in the parking lot was once kept to a minimal. Now, they are leasing to just about anyone, and there is loud music all hours of the night in the parking lot and parties into the early hours of the morning. What once was a quiet and serene place to live has become worse than the property across the highway I looked at before deciding to rent here. The only difference being.....THE PRICE!!! They go up on your rent every single year. And for what? No improvements. Not a single thing to show for the high increase in rent, unless you count the degrading in what we are getting. The new property manager has no clue how to run the property. She is too young and inexperienced and only wants to socialize, with no clue as to how a property should look and be maintained. I suppose the maintenance man might be okay. Who knows? He might stick around for a month or two? If you are looking for a good place to live, you might want to look further. This was once such a place. It has now become more like the hood....not like the neighborhood....the hood, if you know what I mean.

I lived here for two years and absolutely loved it. The thing that I liked best was the neighborhood. Its in a quiet and peaceful area of Carrboro, but it's still so easy to get anywhere. My apartment had a hilltop view of the woods, so it felt very secluded and private. The staff was also exceptionally friendly and easy to work with. This includes both the office and maintenance staff. Any time I had any question or concern, they were quick with help. It was also great to have access to the pool and grill. I feel like I did a majority of my cooking this summer poolside. I was able to live here without a car for about 5 months. I worked at UNC and the bus to campus was easy. There is a path that makes for a 10 minute walk to groceries and and 20 minute walk to downtown Carrboro.

I have lived at Chambers Ridge since June 2010 and I really like calling this community home! For starters, it is one of the safest areas in Carrboro. When we do have an issue that is brought to the attention of the office staff via law enforcement, the staff is very swift in passing that information along to us. I also see the local patrol officers ride through the area on a regular basis. Next, the staff seem to genuinely appreciate having longevity of tenants here. I know there are a few in my building who have been here longer than me, and we would not still be here if we were not happy. Sure, I have seen quite a few come and go over the years that I have been here (it is an apartment complex), and many of them I still stay in contact with. Another thing that I am impressed with is the fact that the Apartment Manager has only changed once since I moved here. In fact, the one we have now came, I believe, just a couple of months after I moved in, maybe. I know she was not here when I signed my initial lease. I like popping my head in the office when I have a chance just to say hi. I was talking with one of the former Leasing Consultants a couple of weeks ago (I think she was here when I moved in), and it was nice to know that she still remembered me. She moved on to graduate school, but keeping in touch with her is awesome. I have not had too many really major maintenance issues in the 5+ years that I have lived here (except for the time that there was a leak in the apartment above me that caused an issue to the ceiling in my bathroom), but when I have, they have always been attended to in timely manners, for the most part. There are sometimes when minor maintenance requests may take longer than usual, but that is to be expected, when there are other maintenance emergencies that must be attended to. So, unless I have an emergency, I usually just tell the office to have maintenance get to it when they have a chance. And, it does get done. There is a pool here, but I have never used it, by choice. I see a lot seemingly happy residents out at it every summer. We normally have something once a month to bring the community together (i.e..., pool party, Thanksgiving potluck, Halloween Party). The ones I have attended over the years have been very fun. I just upgraded my kitchen to the new appliances (stainless steel) in August. LOVE THEM! I like that my second floor apartment overlooks the woods and I am not facing the parking lot, although from what I am told, it is not noisy at all, even if your apartment does not face the woods. The buildings are old, so noise can be an issue. I have an air purifier that usually does a great job at blocking out most of the noise above me (plus, my neighbor up there now is not loud at all). There is a drawback with having Piedmont Electric as the electric company out here. My electric bill tends to run a little more in the summer (as I am extremely hot natured), than it does in the fall and winter. I really like that we have a lot of parking here. I will be here for a good while longer, as I have no intention of going anywhere. Life is so quiet and pleasant out here.

I lived in chambers Ridge for a number of years and would say it progressively got worse each year I lived there. The management went from being friendly and nice to being very rude, terse, and faux professional (as in they played nice, but were not). However, the management was always consistently ineffective and not the least bit helpful or useful. The positive in this is that they basically leave you alone. If you absolutely need help, the manager is NOT the person to go to. THE POOL WAS NEVER OPEN. Don't buy into their false advertising about a year-round pool; they typically only had it open half of the summer, let alone at all the rest of the year!! Maintenance was above average, and typically problems were addressed within a few days. However, maintenance staff changed a few times. Don't ever ask management to fill out a work order because they will never get around to doing it; fill it out yourself online. The apartments were for the most part clean, fairly well-maintained, and recently received new external paint and interior appliance upgrades (stainless steel). The apartments have the largest porches/balconies in the entire Triangle! They have active pest management at the complex. Windows and doors provide no insulation in winter. Walls are not thin enough to hear conversations, but loud music and walking can be heard and felt. The pool area and grounds were also well maintained and the overall complex was very pleasant and peaceful to live in. There were a ton of trees, and the complex was insulated from 54 (so very quiet). There were very few issues with crime or disturbing neighbors while living there. The complex is pet friendly, but watch out for dog crap in the lawns. Parking was free and abundant. It's a short walk (<0.5mi) to 5 different bus stops serving a combined 5 different bus lines. Unfortunately, it's uphill in all directions (both to and from the complex) so bikers beware. the Chapel hill Tennis club is right down the road. Piedmont electric provides the electricity, so your electric bill will always be through the roof. This was made worse by the poorly insulated windows and doors. Water bills are easy, and TV/internet can be provided by time Warner, AT&T, or Dish.

Chambers Ridge was a great place to live. It's quiet, tucked back in the woods and surrounded by trees but still close enough for a quick bike ride into town for food or a drink. The balconies are huge, basically an extra room and the staff is super friendly. They were always very helpful and prompt with any maintenance issues I had. I would definitely recommend them to others looking for a place in the Chapel Hill / Carrboro area.
