The sense of community within the building, tenants & staff included, is a close knit one. I was pleasantly surprised to find this intimate feeling, in a large apartment building in the middle of Harlem. It's has been a wonderful experience, thus far.

I love it at the Balton. It's a great little community. I have grown close with the staff and feel very at home. I love the rooftop in the summer and the courtyard for workouts on the lawn. I do feel like the staff goes above and beyond.

Love the location of this building! Really accessible to everything in the neighborhood. The building has great amenities and is quick to resolve maintenance requests. I live on a low floor and with the lounge on the corner, the level of noise can be pretty high on some nights. The gym in the building is great. Some of the machines are outdated but it gets the job done. Love the children's playroom and the courtyard especially with warm weather.

I am so grateful to be a part of this fantastic community. The building staff is fantastic, maintenance issues are handled promptly, and the overall community is great. I also love the building's amenities.

I lived in this community for most of my life and have seen the transformation. I love Harlem. It is a community that is very diverse. However, it can do much better, if it had affordable parking!!!!!

The building overall is great. The finishes are certainly not luxury quality (for example, toilet covers are cheap plastic, countertops are unfinished wood on the bottomside, and the floors are faux wood that scratches easily), but the amenities and staff more than make up for it. You really can't beat a washer/dryer AND a dishwasher in the apartment. The courtyard is well landscaped with plenty of benches and tables and a mini playground for kids. The ground floor gym is free to all residents and has plenty of equipment (plus, barely any of the residents seem to use it! Most of the time, I have the gym entirely to myself). The ground floor lounge is also quite nice, with two fake fireplaces, large-screen TV's, wifi, a kitchenette, and a pool table. You can even rent it out for private events, like baby showers and birthday parties. There is also a small outdoor roof deck on the 9th floor (out of 12 floors) that has plenty of furniture and some plants. There isn't much of a view, but it does get a good amount of sunlight throughout the day. Finally, the maintenance staff is second to none. The cleaners, super, and concierge desk staff are all so nice. They know many tenants by name, and they do an excellent job keeping The Balton in shape. The super is very fast to complete any repairs, and a 24-hour recorded phone line makes it easy to make any maintenance requests, which in my experience are usually addressed within 2 business days at most (emergency repairs come faster). There is an office in the lobby too, and those staff members seem to rotate out with alarming frequency, so they're not that friendly and don't seem to interact with residents that much, but it's rare that you have to deal with them except for when lease renewal comes up. Most residents keep to themselves or are moderately friendly, though there are some busybodies who complain about any little thing. Not too much noise or loud parties.

Excellent location great amenities staff is excellent very helpful building complex is clean, would definitely recommend to a friend. Concierge from 6pm-12am good for ordering online, great restaurants in the neighborhood.

Love it at The Balton. However, would like to see some residents show more respect for our surroundings, e.g. - keeping garbage out of the hallways and elevators, ensuring their children are not unsupervised in the hallways. Wish we could 'rent-to-own' !

The Balton is a great place to live. We have lots of amenities without the price and the building is well taken care of. I would highly recommend living here. Great location and access to transportation.

Great place to live. Some maintenance issues persist with the elevators, but the building staff, super and office workers are all very good. Well laid out apartments in a great location. Would definitely suggest looking here.

These are in a great area amidst a lot of shopping, restaurants, and transportation. The maintenance and office staff are always friendly and quick to respond and are very helpful to our needs, The facilities are kept clean every day.

The Balton is a wonderful place to live! The leasing office employees are a pleasure to work with, any maintenance request is handled within 24 hours, and the facility is always kept clean and organized. I really enjoy living at the Balton and I hope to do so for many more years to come.

Poor management. Common areas are not kept up. Management staff is rude and unprofessional. They changed the locks without notice during a holiday and didn't provide access to new keys. Several tenants were locked out over Thanksgiving. Poor communication. No sense of customer wellbeing and community.

Front desk management does not seem to care about the community.(Rosemary). There is no sense of urgency with building maintenance. Very poor communication between office and residence. E.g online payment implantation was a complete failure. Poor communication. Poor software

I have had a great experience living at the bolton. The maintenance people have always been friendly and helpful. Its great to live in a building where the people who live and work in the building are friendly and helpful. Especially the door man who has names and apartment numbers memorized and are able to help whenever they can

Great building with tons of amenities, yet the building has too many problems. No front desk security in a dangerous neighborhood. Many homeless sleeping in lobby. Outside of windows never get cleaned. Excessive/ unbearable heat in the hallways 24/7/365.

I was paying much less rent before moving to Balton, so I was wondering whether I should sign the lease or not. So I asked regarding apartment inspection. They told me that no apartment inspection in Balton. Then, I decided to sign the lease because my previous place had inspection twice a year. However, after I moved in Balton, I found out that they simply lied to me to get in me. At that time, they had a lot of vacancies and they wanted to rent ASAP. I was looking to upgrade my life even I would pay much more rent as NHOP(not affodable) resident. Since Balton is HDC sponsored apartment, I did not imagine that they would lie the material fact like some brokers in NYC. So all I want to tell the apartment seekers, please be careful.

We absolutely love living at The Balton! We moved into our apartment when the building opened and we have had a wonderful experience. Our apartment layout is great and has allowed us to create a nice home. The location next to public transportation is perfect.

It is a good building overall but some tenants can be problematic. They are the one who have parties all the time and are loud as hell and become obnoxious and threatening if you ask them to be more considerate. I wish the management would do something about these bad tenants. Otherwise, it's a nice building.
