poor management

If you need an apartment for 10 or more people, go to eastwood arms. They rent to anyone. As long as you have a pulse, or someone else to sign the lease for you. All the garbage around there brings racoons and disease. They do not care. Manager sits in her office and does NOTHING(just like her family that does the so called cleaning there) It's a paycheck, so do your D-- Job! Who is their boss? Don't they know what they get away with? This place has gone down hill the last 8 or 9 years. When did this manager arrive? Did your lightbulb go off yet? Start treating people with respect and not like a dollar in your greedy pockets and get rid of this whole crew.

The staff and relatives should quit writing reviews. None of the ex or present tennants believe them. ( Or friends of the crew) This place is a terrible place to live. Very unkept and a terrible staff. NOTHING gets done and or done right. Dirty and nasty pool and many other complaints that they do not address.

I moved here about one year ago from Florida, where I was a Property Manager for a Condominium Association. I have found Eastwood Arms to be not only affordable, but a friendly neighborhood as well. It is close to shopping and relatively quiet. I have heard a car alarm, ONCE, and it was silenced within minutes .I believe that many of the negative feedback regarding the staff or management if from disgrunted tennants who have become hostile because they have been repremanded for lease violations or failure to pay their rent timely. From experience, a manager is only able to do as much as the management company permits. This is CORPORATE AMERICA! The majority of the time their hands are tied and they are unable to do many things that would benefit the property because it does not benefit the pocket of the developer. They have many duties and responsibilities. Their positions require them to be well versed in many areas of law, accounting, maintenance, management and supervision. They are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are required to act efficiently, professionally and quickly in every matter and for multiple clients, simultaneously. The day starts by retrieving voice mail messages and returning telephone calls, as well as, reading and replying to emails. Went to look at an apartment at this place. I would not live here. The carpet was threadbaren, doors and windows were filthy, black around window sills and up sides, dirty hall carpet, terrible sidewalks and steps, and pieces of drain piping coming from air conditioners. I took off out of this place. Hope this helped the next person.

sad place

No security, unpleasant staff, terrible cleaning, dirty pool, racoons, mold, leaks in ceilings, cost for everything, ect. ect. ect. A ------ place for the money they take from the poor tennants there. People, there are so many nice simco apartments out there, and cheaper and much, much, cleaner. Get a life and move from this pitiful place. You will be so happy.

Seven stellar reviews in two days! This place must be amazing, OR the management staff found this website and they were terrified by what the previous reviews said. I moved from Eastwood Arms two years ago. I assume by the misleading reviews, that the same manager, Kim, is still there. Kim doesn't know how to do anything else but lie to people! Shame on you Kim for not quitting immediately after reading all of the honest reviews! If all of these new reviews are coming from the parent company of Eastwood Arms, Universal Development, shame on you for not firing every employee currently on Eastwood Arms payroll. You shouldn't have wasted your time making fake reviews, instead you should have learned from all of the honest bad reviews and try to make Eastwood Arms better! I live in Eastwood Arms for four years, and I can tell you it was not "Awesome living!!!!" I will be honest, the apartments are large and very nice. For a singly guy they are great! The provided amenities are nice! If my rent wasn't raised by $15 to $30 each year, there was a better (perhaps onsite) management team, and the maintenance staff knew what they were doing, I would still be living there today. I would love to work that hours of the management staff of Eastwood Arms. The hours they are supposed to be in the office are clearly marked on their door, however, they always show up late and definitely leave early. On most days you can catch someone in the office between 11am and 3pm. If you work during those times, like I did, good luck getting in touch with them. If you have the nerve to request a few too many repairs in your apartment and inconvenience the management staff one too many times, they will simply stop answering your phone calls. They have caller id and they use it, trust me! They will conveniently "loose" any work orders that you place with them. Finally, if they do end up sending a maintenance man over, he won't have a clue about what he us doing. Be aware that the management staff controls the temperature of the heat, air conditioning, and water of your building. In the winter your heat will not go past 70 degrees. You will have to get accustomed to using your stove to warm your apartment. In the summer if you live in a building with central air, like I did, be ready for 85 degrees inside your apartment and 95 degrees outside. Again, management limits the temperature that you will be able to set your AC at. As far as the promise of never ending hot water for everyone, that certainly was not the case for me. Get used to cold showers and washing your dished in lukewarm water. Heat, AC, and water are included in your rent, and you will definitely realize it. Please be sure to do your research before you even think about moving into Eastwood Arms. Eastwood Arms has the potential to be "Awesome living!!!!", all it would take is firing all of the current employees!

I have been living at Eastwood for many years now and have seen managers come and go and never once did any of them try to make you feel right at home like the current manager has. Yes she has Holiday parties,community picnics oh yea and casino trips and it's your loss if you haven't been to these functions as they are very nice and something that no other property does for there people. And as far as the washers and dryers I hope that you are one that takes care of them or are you one that stuffs them so full that they can't even spin and the motor burns up or are you one that can't clean them out when your done using them? But the first to complain when they are not working. If you truly have a complaint man up and go to the office or are you afraid that you will be treated with respect and that work order that you are complaining about will get done? I have never been disrespected by the manager or her staff so get over what ever your problem is either you have been evicted from here or you have been a problem. Oh yea I forgot to mention the manager is always at work she even works Sunday's so if you don't see her it must be that your the one that never works and that's why this is all you know how to do.

THe best place to stay as far as apt.'s goes....

I have to laugh at a lot of the reviews made by some of the ppl on here, cause they know that they was either kicked out or what ever happened so they want to write a bad review and tell nothing but lies. Come on ppl lets be adults and own up to things if u was evicted well that's your fault not the manager's or anyone else's. I must say for me that the manager is an awesome person with a bubbly personality she always has a smile on her face and always willing to help everyone! you just need to follow the rules!!!!! It's not that hard we need to respect our neighbors as we live in apartments. I have never had a problem getting my work order finished and so why someone would write about the men that work here is just all lies as well. The cleaning crew is great when i moved in my apt was so clean and smelled so good, my hallway always looks nice. Well maybe on the weekend its a lil dirty, but they can't be here 24/7. Again i will comment on the manager and say she is doing a great job I see her come to work every day and she looks like she is in so much pain but still keeps a smile! I would tell everyone to come here I been here for 7 yrs

my thoughts on living at eastwood arms apartments!

hello! i must say i ran into this sight by accident. i noticed some pretty bad reviews! i must say in all honesty, i have lived here for 7 years, never had a problem with management, or mantenice! if i ever had a problem,i would let it be known an it was always solved in a timely manner! i had to comment after i seen some of the bad post on here from some disgruntled folks! most of these bad reviews are from people who have been evicted for reasons unknown to me but i'm sure its because they can't follows rules , nor do they care about other people! the cleaning staff is great! believe me they have a tough job every day an alot of folks don't care an think they don't have to clean up after themselves, especially in the laundry rooms! the girls at the office are great an endure alot each an every day! iv'e recmended eastwood arms to a lot of friends!

great place to call home

I AM A COLLEGE STUNDENT JUST MOVED FROM MY PARENTS HOUSE AND I MUST SAY I WAS A LITTLE NERVOUS ABOUT APARTMENTS BUT EASTWOOD ARMS TOOK ALL THOSE WORRIES AWAY.THE MANAGER IS AWESOME SHE EVEN STAYED LATE FOR MY MOM TO COME IN AND VIEW THE MODEL BEFORE I SIGNED MY LEASE.THE MAINTENACE STAFF ARE VERY AWESOME AND ON TOP OF THINGS.THE POOL IS A LITTLE SMALL BUT ITS REFREASHING,THE BUSTRIPS AND THE PICNICS AND COMMUNITY FUNCTIONS ARE GREAT... THANK YOU EASTWOOD FOR MAKING MY FIRST APARTMENT GREAT!!!!!!

Awesome living!!!!

I lived at eastwood arms and loved it there!!! I would def move back soon!!! Its way better then where im living now!!!! I love the management they are awesome, very nice, and caring!!!! The building where i lived was always nicely cleaned and smelled so nice and refreshing when i came in and out!!!! yes its a gated community but i have seen people hit the gate and break it all the time i think they should get a steal one so people cant just break the gates like they do. other then that i recommend this place to anyone!!!!

If you like car alarms and poor maintenance, this is the place for you!

I have lived in Eastwood Arms for seven years. The property does have many benefits. Covered parking ($20 extra a month), Garages are available ($50 extra a month!), laundry room ($1 to wash, $1 to dry), and pretty nice large apartments. I moved in here for these very reasons. Seven years ago the management was ok and maintenance personal was useful. Fast forward seven years and wow have things gone down hill. The management "team" consists of two people over in the office who show up late (if at all) and screen their calls. If they don't feel like talking to you or if you have complained one too many times, don't even bother calling. Get used to walking over to the office if you prefer working appliances and running water. When I moved in seven years ago, the management team did a credit check and thorough followup. Now a days if you have a pulse and some money, you can live hear. I have seen the police hear on several occasions, twice in my building. Maintenance is now a total joke. There is only one maintenance person, John, who knows what he is doing. (Trust me you will only want John to do your maintenance because he does it right the first time.) Unfortunately, Universal Development uses John at their other various properties so he is at Eastwood Arms only once or twice a week. To save money the management team lowers the temperature of your hot water in the summer and will only turn the boiler to around 75 degrees in the winter. Be ready for luke warm showers in the summer, and you will definitively need a space heater or two for the winter. General property maintenance is done by outside contractors. They have decided that the best time to mow the grass is from 4pm to 8pm. Be prepared to talk really loud to any guests you might have when the mowers are around. For some reason car alarms go off in the middle of the night (which is typical for apartment living). My complaint is that the people who can clearly hear their alarm going off don't turn it off. Alarms will go off for five sometimes ten minutes at a time several times a night. (This issue isn't managements fault, but it gives you an idea of the type of tenants they now allow in here) One of the selling points of Eastwood Arms is that it's a gated community. The gates have not functioned for the last four years. They claim they are "repairing" them. Don't believe this lie, they have been repairing them for the past four years. Finally, if you are tempted to move hear because of the swimming pool, think again. The pool is maintained by a resident, not a paid professional. The pool is not cleaned daily and none of the rules are enforced. In the evening there is supposed to be an adult swim time where children are sent home and only adults are allowed in the pool. This rule has not been enforced in the past three years. If you are an adult and don't really want to swim with small children, don't ever plan to use the pool at Eastwood Arms. Trust me you do not want to move anywhere in the Universal Development family, especially Eastwood Arms. I am moving in three weeks to another apartment in Niles under the Simco Management Corp. I have several friends living in various Simco properties and the reviews are the same. Simco runs a nice, clean, professional, enjoyable set of properties throughout the area. I hope that this review will save you a lot of headaches. Goodbye forever Eastwood Arms!

Don't Come here !!!

Hi, I use to live in Eastwood Arms. The Management never listen your complains. Everytime they said whatever Universal Development (Owner company) decide they have to follow. I went to the Universal development main office located in Girard, OH. Lady at the enterance don't allow me to talk to the manager or any responsible person. They don't care about their customers. I have some leasing problem and because of my job I have to move somewhere else. I pay them and NOT to live that place. They never help me to find some solution so that my lease will be terminate. I found someone from craiglist but lady Amanda and Kim from the leasing office never help me to solve this matter. I pay every month regularly and they don't care about me not even listen properly.

The perfect place to blow your brains out

If your looking for a nice review of this place, then look some place else. I'd rather have lived in a box in a dark wet alley then here. No lie. 1. On 04/12/2010 after countless calls and complaints, we brought in a list of 22 complaints which we had been complaining about for 10 months but never got resolved. They only fixed 5 of them. This included simple things like fixing the gate that NEVER works. How can they claim it's a "gated community" when anyone can drive threw there anytime? 2. Our apartment flooded not one, not two, but at least three times because of a leak on the roof (or so we were told). The leak would come down by the furnice and knock out our gas light so we'd have to wait for it to dry out and freeze in the mean time. Our furniture was ruined and the entire apartment smelled musky for months. 3. The staff has no respect for your privacy. I had to call the police one day because a maintenance man and some other guy walked in my bedroom without knocking while i was getting dressed. They denied this of course. 4, The staff are all a bunch of scam artists and liars. 5. Ants are everywhere!!! And theres bubbles on the wall and a moldy substance on the windows which the manager claimed was "mildew" without even coming to look at it. 6. There was always trash all over the yard by our building and our parking lot light was burnt out for 10 of 12 months we lived there even though we complained about it for months. How hard is it to change a light bulb? 7. The managers daughter goes around claiming she is a "subcontractor" when all she does is clean the apartments after people move out. 8. When we moved out, they never gave back our deposit and claimed we owned them money for a pet fee. We NEVER had a pet other then a hamster and a fish. But they claimed our place was "infested with fleas" but never showed any proof of them and lied about the extermination company they used and never allowed us to see these fleas they claim where there. The manager claimed our hamster may have had the fleas but if thats so, then why charge a $200 pet fee? 9. The sidewalks and steps are uneven and unsafe. I fell twice and witnessed other residence tripping as well. 10. The washer and dryer always ate our money and never would fully dry out clothes 11. AC always broke down in the summer We work very hard for our money. Too hard to be wasting in on a place like this. We always paid our rent on time and were very polite and responsive but unfortunately, they were not. DON'T MOVE HERE! Not unless you want nothing but unhappiness and misery.

Eastwood arms in niles, ohio

These apartments would not be that bad IF: They kept the common areas clean and clear, (Ohio revised code law)They never clean the snow from the stairs or sidewalks. Their maintenance department is laughable. Fix it only if you keep complaining using old parts from other apartments. Didn't have mold all over the place, Ignores the law. Won't be caught dead investing back into the property. Hoping no one knows the law so they could keep scamming their tenants. Read the Ohio revised code people. Call in the health department. When the health department says fix a problem they give them 30 days to do it. If not fixed they have 30 days more to fix or vacate the premises. At the end of that first 30 days send a written notice saying because of these problems you will post your rent money with the court house.. When the time comes for you to pay the rent to the court house the 2nd 30 days will be up. But don't panic. While your monies are posted with the courthouse it is unlawful to evict. They get hit with a big fine from the health department. And it is unlawful for them to come after you in any way shape or for for doing this...

Cockroaches and No Heat

The whole building had coakroaches including in our apartment. We told the manager and they acted as if they had dealt with this before. The exterminator had to come out 3 different times and the coackroaches still did not go away. And to add on top of that the exterminator was a little late because they had to do 2 other buildings in Eastwood Arms. Pretty nasty. Also in the winter we had no heat for 2 weeks. I had a newborn baby and had to stay in a hotel because the maintenance did not know how to fix it. When I brought it up to the rude manager she claimed I never called and filed a maintenance request. Uh ya I did. Also when me moved out they made up false claims to keep our deposit. And not only did it happen to us it happened to 3 other people I know who had lived there and moved out. The lady who is the manager at this property has a serious additude problem. She is not nice at all and needs to be fired. I do not recomend living here.

eastwood is geting rough!

last night my car has been broken into for the second time they say niles finest community thats a joke this place is like candle light their management is rude i've never meet people this --------!they have alot of old people here and they wish they could move too but its to late for them but im out of here asap they got ratcoons real bad out in the parking lot they have stray cats they are uping the rent we have spiders real bad.Kim is the manager here and she is ignorant!she does unfair houseing just take my advice dont move here or you'll want to move but cant because kim will not let you break that lease for no matter the reason THEY WANT YOUR MONEY THATS ALL!

dont sign that 16 month lease!!

we have lived at eastwood arms for almost two years and it is a joke, the rent is high and the maintenance is terrible, if something breaks in your apartment(which it will often) plan on waiting close to two weeks for it to be fixed or fixing it yourself when you get tired of waiting. most of the people that live here are hillbillies or ex cons and the others are just really nosy and rude. the housekeeping is the worst i have ever seen, they "clean" building once a week but not very good there are always spider webs and different bugs in the hallways and we have never actually seen them cleaning at all in the two years we have been here, and the management is rude. another huge problem is the raccoons they are everywhere, so be careful if you have small children or when walking to your car they surround the dumpsters and parking lot in broad daylight. i actually found this site when looking for a new apartment, we cant wait to leave!!!

eastwood is no good

if you are loud and dont want nothing fixed for you dont mind a acouple roaches dont mind people crowded up in the halls huddle up smoking in front of your appartment then move here we hate it but if that fits your discription then eastwood is for you!if you have a family look the other way this place IS NOT A FAMILY PLACE i hate to even let my neice visit because of how people hang out in the halls you never know what is going on out in the hall when you open up the door the sad part is we still live here but we are breaking the lease when we find the right time and place to move YES IT IS THAT BAD WE ARE GONE BREAK OUR LEASE EVEN IF WE HAVE TO PAY THE NEXT 4 MONTHS AND WE DONT LIVE HERE have any questions feel free to call i also have pictures that are up to date! 440-344-0329 by the way staff has poor manors and will not do nothing for you thats why i wrote this review
