The worst apartments I have ever stayed, and that's not hyperbole. Ants everywhere, once you thought you got rid of them, they would pop up somewhere else. Rude and extremely unprofessional leasing office, the kind of people that if they were to all die in a fire, it would be best for the civilization world. I'm not kidding THEYRE THAT BAD. There was a hole in my bathtub due to it being old as dirty and never upgraded, it took them 2 months to finally fix it, after I called the BBB and made legal threats. There's no drop box for rent, so you have to wait on them to be open to pay rent, one day they were late to open and tried to charge me a late fee based off their own stupidity. And then when you try to leave this hell hole, they charge you ridiculous chargers for nonsensical BS. I hate these apartments, if you're considering moving here... DONT GO SOMEWHERE ELSEWHERE

Me and my fiancé have lived here since the middle of March and so far I love it here. Just as every place in this world there is the cons. One con is the cabinets and how outdated they are but nothing will affect me. Another, we did have a little ant infestation but we let the front office know and they sent out a pest guy as soon as they could and the issue was resolved. Third, the gym could use a little updating on the workout equipment but it's better than nothing. Some good additions that could be made is putting in a sidewalk next to the units and putting another entrance since they have been working in front of this one today. Other than those cons, the staff has been friendly, the grounds are nice and well maintained, and a nice location minus the crazy traffic sometimes. But hey, it's corpus. Traffic is crazy. Rent is fair. Would recommend. No place is perfect so everyone who complains just needs to stop whining and realize that. Be happy that you have a roof over your head unlike other people around the world.

My boyfriend and I have been living here since this past November in 2014. It is a very large complex. If anything, it feels like I'm in a smaller city inside of Corpus. Personally, I don't really care for this complex. There are WAY too many speed-bumps, the amount of dog crap everywhere is abundant, maintenance takes forever to come fix an issue, and the fact that they don't give a courtesy call when pest control or maintenance will be coming by. They even just added more speed-bumps for some stupid reason. I just spoke to the office about one of our kitchen appliances not working and they told me that it's not a priority so it will be dealt with in a couple of days. I also know that people have not paid their pet deposits because one of my neighbors has three dogs in their apartment. Do you expect me to believe they paid $1500 for those three pets? A former tenant even told me they never paid their pet deposits and they had two cats. This is just not a great place to live.

Walnut Ridge was my first apartment and I loved it! Maintenance was always quick when I had any issues. Staff was always nice and ready to help. I lived on the first floor and never heard the people above me which was a blessing. This has been my favorite place to live by far!!

Me and my husband have lived in these apartments since 2013. The apartments are okay but the rent keeps going up each year. When we first moved in we wrote a list of all of the items that were broken or torn up and gave it to the front office. Everything on that list is STILL broken. The maintenence guys are nice but they fix your problems the easiest and cheapest way possible so most of the times they only fix it half way. Our AC has broken 4 or 5 times since we moved in and in the summer our electricity bill is from $160-$190 and thats with the AC turned up during the day. Whenever we call about major issues with our apartment we never know when the maintenece men will come and fix the issue. Most of the time we have to call 2-3 times for someone to come out. Most of the front office staff is rude when you call on the phone and never know the answers to our questions. Overall i would not recommend this complex to anyone. The grounds, location and size of the apartment are the only positive things about this place.

First day, apartment not ready, extremely dirty, promises, promises, promises turned into lies, could not use bath tub for two months, paint on walls came off on my hands, very noisy, manager does not care about people, does not enforce rules and dog poop everywhere! Worst apartment I have ever lived in and management very uncaring unless it concerns them. Staff are wonderful and the maintenance workers are great men but the management does not give them quality time or materials to do their job. We have ants all the time.

For the most part, this isn't the worst apartment complex I've lived in. HOWEVER, my biggest complaint is that the walls are TOO darn THIN! We can literally hear EVERYTHING. I am losing sleep and having a hard time concentrating on my studies because of it. I can hear our neighbor showering, one neighbor yelling at their children and them crying about it everyday (actually a little worried there might be abuse), one neighbor BLASTING their alarm in the morning SO loud, I'm surprised they're not deaf (it has also woken me up EVERY morning), and then my upstairs neighbors....BOY do I have a story on them! Not only have they let their poor cat out on the balcony for HOURS during the COLD weather, BUT they also have a POOL TABLE and a DRUM SET. They have played the drum set at 8am and now at 1am. We have talked to them in person AND called the apartment and NOTHING has been done. They also have parties during the weekday and are super loud with their friends. My second complaint is that the quality of the apartment isn't exactly that great either. The doors and cabinets are all torn up. The dishwasher and fridge are a bit damaged as well. Our stand up shower has mold around the door and leaks water onto the floor. Our bathtub is also peeling very badly and clogging the drain. But, other than the noise complaint, the apartment does seem to hop on work orders quickly enough. I just wish these walls weren't so thin and that they took better care of the apartment once tenants move out.

MOVE OUT WAS TERRIBLE! I have been charged outrageous amounts for unreasonable things! As an example: I left some unused cleaning supplies on the counter (a bottle of dish soap, fabreeze spray. etc in a small collected area) so that they could be used by the next people or put into a community pot, perfectly good to use. I was charged $25 for a trash fee for them to throw away the cleaning products!!! I could have done that in two seconds!!! The explanation was that a charge ensues if you leave behind so much as a grocery bag. They will not work with you and will use every opportunity to charge you more. They even moved our move out date to the end of the month (we gave a move out date when we moved in) and insisted on charging us until the end of the month even when we gave official notice 31 days before our actual move out day.

I don't really "get" all the negative reviews. My wife and I have lived here for years, originally in a one-bedroom unit. We moved to a three-bedroom unit when we decided to expand our family, and we have been raising our son here for over two years. The original unit had an ant problem on occasion, but so has every other place I've lived in Corpus (and there have been many). I'm not making excuses or justifying the issue, but it was not out of our ability to handle, either. Fortunately, our current building lacks that problem. The office and maintenance staff have never been anything but nice to us in the entire time we have lived here. They are willing to listen and respond to any problems that we have in a reasonably timely manner, which is really all I can ask. They know me by name, too, which is fantastic in a complex that houses roughly 2000 people. If I have any complaints, it's the state of the parking lot. They are currently repairing sections of it, but the combination of potholes and speedbumps is trying to murder my car's suspension. But then, thatâ??s like driving pretty much anywhere in this city. Another issue is that our spare bedroom is never properly cooled, and always winds up being noticeably warmer than the rest of the unit. These quibbles aside, I like it here.

I have lived here for almost a year and WILL NOT be renewing my rent. I have had my truck stolen, items stolen off my new vehicle. Reported to the office and they don't seem to care. Security is a joke around here, gates are usually broke so anyone can drive in. Pools are supposed to be closed on Mondays for cleaning but often are left locked because they are too lazy to unlock them. Cabinets in apartments are so old they are falling apart, bath tubs are painted over to make them look new and will start to peel after a few cleanings. Maintenance will come to fix things and take the cheapest route to fix the problem. I have had one toilet leaking water for over 3 months, 3 different times they "repaired" it by changing the flapper....It still leaked. The other toilet rocked side to side and back and forth, they fixed it alright, not the correct was but by jamming a shim on one side and chalking the hell out of it. So now it leans to one side....People with pets, let the animals crap anywhere the feel and don't clean up after them. There is a "cat" lady that lives here and her 5 cats roam freely in the apartment complex and they are everywhere.

in this i had some major maintenance issues, had to live with same problem over 3 months. but still it was ok till decided to move out. i have paid everything in full, breaking the lease fee, one month of extra rent and such. 3 days ago i got a call from them and i have been told that i owe them more than $600 for electricity. according to them when you dont have the electric on your name(why should i have it on my name i have moved out) they charge you $10 per day. since i wasnt living in there only thing that was working is the fridge which costs $10 per month. long story short what they are doing is bringing up these crazy charges to you which you will refuse to pay and they will sell that debt to collection agencies, then do write off on their taxes. so its a win win situation for them. i seriously dont know how they are sleeping at night while they know that they are basically stealing their customers money. probably they are saying "its business" or "im just doing my job" but those sentences are created by the ----- so you comfort your conscience when you are committing a sin. thats major part of the problem which is going on these days.

MILITARY BEWARE The apartment itself is pretty good. The location was great and it was pretty quiet. I did have a frequent ant problem but pest control did their best. The problems all started when I started the process of moving out. Being military I am entitled to the so called military clause that is federally recognized. Well the geniuses in Texas decided to make their own military clause that effectively screws over anyone in the military. Basically long story short instead of pro rating the 30 days from when you give notice with orders in hand their version states the notice begins with the next billing period. Effectively what that means is i would have to pay for an entire month that i wouldnt even be there. After arguing my case they finally took it to the corporate level and finally they prorated my 30 days. The second major issue i have with them is that its been 2 months since ive moved and i STILL dont have my deposit. They said it was mailed out a month ago to an address that I never gave them. How do you mail something without getting the right address? I have called them 4 times over 2 weeks and they keep telling me they will call back but they never do. They say they have to email corporate and blah blah but they never get back to me nor do they even know what happened and they arent making any effort to do so. They are dragging their feet and giving me the runaround. The people in the office are nothing but corporate stooges whom cant even take a sip of coffee without emailing corporate asking what to do. Avoid this place especially if you are military

HORRIBLE, DONT DO IT!!!!!!! Looked nothing close to the unit that was shown to me...When moving in the only thing that had been done was paint, and even that was still wet and the job appeared so unprofessional..the apartment was so FILTHY and DISGUSTING not to mention ALL THE ANTS AND SPIDERS..I had to hire a professional cleaning crew to come and clean this disgusting apartment before continuing to move in...what could I do, had already signed the lease..I constantly work out of town and was gone for 3 days and had not even had a chance to spend A night in the apartment, and when I get home EVERYTHING was wet..Apparently the old ac unit was leaking..on top of that I leave the next morning and I am gone for another 3 days for work and get home at 3am to a broken into apartment!!!!!! with no broken windows but an unlocked front door....IMAGINE THAT!!!! ONLY THE STAFF WAS AWARE OF MY WORK SCHEDULE..as a "courtesy" they said they could transfer me into another unit so when I go and talk to them about doing that, "courtesy" went out the window when they wanted another deposit and application fee for another unit plus transfer fees..REALLY???!!! UNBELLIEVEABLE!!!!! finally my lease ended and again I hired a professional cleaning crew to clean my apartment (not that it needed it) but as a courtesy for the next sucker to rent this apartment, and now they are refusing to give me back my deposit and charging additional fees!!!!! DONT MOVE HERE!!!!

From day 1, my family and I have had nothing but problems with this apartment. First day we moved in it was a complete and horrible mess, ant were everywhere, the apt was infested with ants and fleas, although we have never had a pet. The paint was still wet and the apt was filthy. When I say the apt is infested with ants that is an understatement!!! Parking is horrible, the parking lot will tear up your car from all of the pot holes, the grounds are filthy, there is animal feces all over the complex. Some of the maintenance crew are ok, (the older ones) the rest are full of ----!!! They will knock on your door about twice and if you don't immediately answer they will attempt to let themselves in. One of the men asked me could he stand on my furniture to change lighting, I looked at him crazy and told him HELL no, and to take your self back down those three flights of stairs and get your ladder, he looked at me like I was crazy. My family and I have 3 more months left and I can not wait until we move. The rent is cheaper than usual, but I guess you get what you pay for. I will gladly pay $1000 now for quality and comfort somewhere else!!!!

I have nothing but good things to say about living here. I have lived here over five years and the staff has been very friendly and cooperative with my needs. I live at the front of the complex near the main entrance. And yes at times I hear everyone leaving the club across the street, but it settles shortly after closing. These apartments have been here for a very long time and are kept up very well. Some of my neighbors have also been here as long as I have if not longer. I can call the office staff at any time with a concern and it is taken care of immediately. Unfortunately, there will be one bad apple who spoils it for all of us regardless of where we live.

I have lived here for three months now and it's the worst apartment complex I've ever been in. I begged my husband to move us in here because it looked great, the location is pretty good and it has a number of pools. Wrong. From the first week, we've had problems. The second we turned a light on, the electricity blew in the entire living room. Maintenance were here everyday, all day for a week tearing holes out of our walls and drilling away only to make it WORSE before calling in REAL ELECTRICIANS to do the job for them! They left the massive holes in the wall for over two weeks before they repaired them and even then, all they did was a quick poor plaster job and a lick of paint over the patches. Since living here, we've had maintenance in the apartment nearly 20 times. I'm heavily pregnant so it takes me a minute to get to the door but they just let themselves in which has given me a nervous disorder which effects my unborn baby. I'm constantly terrified of someone walking in because 9/10, they knock once before immediately unlocking the door! They do not warn us of their visit beforehand. We've had to call the police a number of times because we've had random drunks pounding on our door trying to get in after leaving the bar, our neighbors above and across are always fighting, the ones above are the worst when you can hear the shouting and extreme banging. We told the office we were expecting our first baby when we moved in and they put us in the worst block, the other tenants 'lovingly' call it 'the projects'. We are exactly opposite Whiskey River so three days out of the week, we're up until 3am from the people honking, shouting and CRASHING THEIR CARS, I'd never witnessed a fender bender before but now, I see it EVERY WEEK. When we told management about the noise and asked for an explanation as to why they put a young family in this apartment, they shrugged and said to buy blackout curtains. Thanks helpful staff! Our toilet constantly flushes by itself because of the other tenants and it blocks at every flush. Our bathtub was painted over in cheap paint to hide disgusting tub marks and after my first shower here, it started to peel. They have not come to repair it. Head office and maintenance are cautious of us because we lodged a complaint about everything so we're treated pretty horribly. We've had huge black stains left on the carpets from maintenance 'fixing' our apartment and they half-attempted to wash it before saying that's enough. Our latest incident is involving our heater. It started leaking heavily onto the carpet. When we called out maintenance, he was here for five minutes before saying 'fixed!' It was absolutely disgusting, completely unclean and when we mentioned it to him, he said 'oh, you don't need to clean that.' An hour later, it was leaking more. After a quick google search, we discovered the coils needed to be cleaned every couple of months, THEY HAVE NOT BEEN. Two days later, maintenance shows up AGAIN and looks awkward. He came out and said 'actually, it does need to be cleaned'. No, he meant that he looked it up and realized IT WAS DANGEROUS. He ended up having the replace EVERYTHING and giving it an industrial clean which took all day. Absolutely ridiculous! Pest control knock every day telling us they need to spray but because I'm pregnant, they can't spray because of the fumes which they seem to not understand. Have fun walking around the car lot, you'll see at least two drug dealers. How do I know this? Because they don't care to hide it. Talking of the car lot, GOOD LUCK FINDING PARKING. At least in the part of the complex that I'm located in. There's always at least four abandoned cars taking up 'prime' spots and even when you call them in, nothing changes. Everyone double parks and they don't care! Every night I hear the same motorcycle revving his engine and speeding as well as the cars doing the same with extremely loud music. When you walk to the gym, you'll see the ------ drink machine. Put your quarters in and it's soda roulette. It gives you the options of drinks but it's gonna spit out whatever it wants, and that's on the days it wants to work. The rent is extremely high for what you get! I wish I listened to my husband beforehand when he said we could find a better apartment before moving in because this is RIDICULOUS. If they read this, they will know exactly who I am so I can't wait to be treated worse! Do NOT move here!

Run away screaming
If I had found this website before I never would have moved in. Even when you pay your rent on time and in full they are still horrible to you. The front office is a joke they are very rude. They over charge like it's a honor that they let you live here. There's mice, ants, roaches, and the place is falling apart. They think a fresh coat of dark brown paint will improve this place instead of maybe taking care of the pot hole filled parking lot. The maintaince is terrible, they have no idea what they are doing. To fix something it takes them a few days if your lucky for them to even get to your place and then they have to come back several times to fix it. They even try to blame you for any damage. And to top it off they add charges saying you didn't pay for something like trash pickup which is $9.00. And with the water it doesnt matter how much you use it's based on size of the unit so even if your here one week in a month it will still be about 30. And they don't bother to dry any leak that happens so there is now mold in my apartment. So like I said run away screaming from this place. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy.

Poop everywhere...
One staff member, Laurie, is a total -----. Had we met her when we were shopping around, we would definitely not have moved in here. However, everyone else has been fairly helpful, and Joey is great. The price is great for the size of the apartment, but the ants and roaches are terrible. Also, maintenance may respond fairly quickly, but they do a very poor job. We have had to complain about the same issues several times and each time they "fix" it with a quick band-aid, without bother to fix the root of the problem. If the parking lot was repaved the entire complex would look much nicer... And lots of tenants are apparently fat and lazy and have a habit of leaving their trash bags right outside their doors, no matter how close they are to a dumpster. It also seems like my husband and I are the only people who pick up after our dog...poop everywhere. Regarding noise, we often hear our upstairs and next-door neighbors through the walls/ceiling. We also hear sirens ALL the time, going by on Staples. We have seen police in the complex at least 10 times, once even wrestling someone to the ground. People here tend to have drunken parties and then drive fast through the parking lot while yelling at pedestrians. Overall it's really a lovely place to live.

Not Bad
Overall, I would say that Walnut Ridge Apts aren't bad. I loved my apt layout and the space that i got for what i paid. anytime i had an issue and brought it up to the leasing office, it was handled very promptly. once i had an issue with my disposal and it was taken care of the same day. had an issue with my A/C, was the very next day, and once with my electricity circuit breaker, fixed within an hour after i called. the maintenance dept. does there job well. the lawn is mowed/trimmed regularly so you don't feel like you live in a dump. i'm a clean person and i never had any trouble with roaches or ants or anything like that. then again, i was on the second floor and typically first floor residents have more bug issues. the only negatives i can really think of are the lack of assigned parking. sometimes you have to park entirely too far away from your apt 'cause it's so crowded, and esp when you have a lot of groceries or something, it's not too fun. other residents are sometimes noisy, but that's apt living in general. other than that, i never had any issues with it, the leasing office people were really nice and professional. i would recommend walnut ridge as a place to live if an apt is what you're looking for..

Run like Forest!!
Management is not responsible! They do not take action! I've been in this complex since August 2008 in a 3 bedroom. Transferred to a 4 bedroom in another build. No roaches and mice in this building! But the noise, jumping, running, late night kids smoking in the hallway, broken car wash machines, not being able to dump your trash because the trash shoot is blocked my neighbors throwwing the trash infront instead of pulling open the handle and placing the trash inside, broking baseball court and the constant speaking to management has not got me nowhere. They advertise the baseball court, car wash, security: OMG the gate has been broken for the last 3 months. Then to top that off; I had to pay $200.00 to trasnferr to the 4 bedroom; no one could explain what the $200.00 was for besides to say, "That's what you have to pay!" I leave messages no one returns my call and I have to pay rent just like everyone else. Why should I have to listen to stumping, jumping, and running all day and night long. Walnut Ridge doesn't stand behind what they are advertising so, run like HELL and never turn back.

Get Out And Run
I have almost been here six months and i just hate it. Mangers don't do jack squawk for you. My AC has not been working for the past month and a half. I have made plenty of request for them to fix it, every time they tell me that they will get on it and they never do. Every apartment is over priced here in Corpus Christi. For what i have been paying in bills($200 ac/light{I am never home and always turn the ac and lights off when i leave for work and school}got to have cable bad bunnies ears spot for tv $120) and rent it would of been better just renting a house and paying that extra 100 dollars. Dont rent here its not anything like the photos or what they say in the office.

Roaches!!!!!
Wish I had seen this site before I applied to live here. Well I applied and was approced to live here. They gave a me a move-in date two weeks after I was approved (which by the way I had to call to find out after not hearing anything for more than four days). So I set up an account to have electric service in my name. Signed a term commitment for this so I could get a better deal. On the move-in day I was told that the apt was still being cleaned and that I could go back the next day to sign the lease, but I could have the keys to the apt. Went that night to check it out, and was EXTREMELY disappointed. The apartment was not clean, the carpet was ugly (stains and such). But worst of all were the cockraches running wild everywhere, EVERYWHEWRE! I know this is S. Texas, bugs are part of life but this was an infestation. The next day I did not sign the lease advised them of the bug problem. Luckily I noticed this before I signed, but I still lost the $55 app fee an a $175 penalty for canceling the electric service to the aprtment I never moved into, and more than 5 weeks of lost time. Also the night I went to look at the apt, I noticed many shady characters. Not at all what I expected.

You really do end up getting what you pay for. The price you pay for size of apartment is great. Add that with the constant lawn/yard maintenance on the outside, and you have the upsides of this complex. Now, the downsides. Actual apartment maintenance is the worst. Until you have made several requests followed by a threatening letter, you will not get any major work (i.e. air conditioning, plumbing) done. If you lead a normal life in which you sleep anywhere in between 10 pm and 8 am, you will not get a good nights rest. 1. you live on one of the busiest intersections on the south side. 2. in the immediate area are a fire station, car wash, and two huge nightclub/bars. 3. regardless of their policy and how many complaints you have against a neighbor, they will act on noise violations by tenants unless they stop paying rent. And yes, the rent is cheap, but you get nickled and dimed by this place. On top of your rent, you pay a seven dollar garbage fee which isn't bad, but you also pay water which id determined by how big of a place you live in, not how much water you use. You could live in the smallest apartment available, be home half of the month, and still have a water bill for fourteen to sixteen dollars. As far as the bug problems which have been reported on this website, they're really more related to the weather than anything. Since Corpus has been in a drought for so long, I haven't had a problem with bugs. And just to go back on the,"they don't care as long as you pay rent" comment, it's true. I've seen drug deals, people having bar be ques on the third floor, walking animals that are no where near the size of "apartment" pets, and plenty of broken glass to know that they aren't too selective to new tenants. If you're looking for a big cheap apartment, this is the place. If you're looking for comfortable/reliable living, this is not the place.

NOT WORTH THE EFFORT!
'Welcome Home', the sign in front says. Ha! 'Welcome to Hell' it should say! Since day 1, we've had a problem with both the office staff and maintenance are rude and unreasonable. We have lived through quite a few apartment complexes, and I had thought our last place was the worst. Here, they tell my fiance everything is fine and when I go into the front office, I get thrown into the back room with all of the staff and they tell me that we are violating the lease agreement in someway or another (this happened three times!). We've had a persistant ant problem and they say the pestman comes every Monday and Thursday, but the pestman says he's only received one call for our apartment. In the fitness room, there is something always wrong with the equipment. The gates are always broken! Don't even bother getting the keycode, as the front gate never closes. They say the pool is heated and it is not. The other pool is NEVER cleaned. My fiance's mother passed away unexpectedly and we inherited her chihuahua (he doesn't even bark!) and were unable to pay for the pet deposit right away. They made us pay twice as much! There is no parking near your apartment after 6PM! The biggest problem we had was when our friend moved in with us. We had them update the lease with his name on it. 9 months later, they told us he was an unauthorized tenant, he had engine parts spread all over the parking lot (they belonged to another tenant), and they tried to tow our show car. So we went through the whole application process all over again. After $25 dollars and 3 three months later, we went to go renew our lease, we were told no because we were causing too many problems. I gladly signed that 30 day notice! Guess what? We found a larger apartment with a better management and maintenace team, better grounds, and an even better rent price! I'm sorry if I recommended this place to anyone!
