***READ***DON'T MOVE HERE!***
I should have known that this place was going to be trouble the first day that I was there. For one thing, the light switch in my room did not work properly and made the light flicker and make an electrical buzzing sound (not safe). I'm guessing there was a short of some kind since I tried to turn on the light and the short made my computer system shut down. I reported the problem in February and it didn't get fixed until JUNE! Our apartment was infested with sugar ants as well. Also when we moved in, the carpet was FILTHY and had dog hair all over it and if you decided to lay on the carpet, you would often get bitten by FLEAS!!!!!!!! There were crayon marks and stains on the carpet and it was obvious that it needed to be changed out before we moved in but but it wasn't. The office staff was so nice before we signed the lease but once we did, we were on our own pretty much... If you've lived in Corpus for a while, you'll know what I'm talking about that the city is crap and Walnut fits right in. The neighbors were a big deal too. There was always some kind of domestic disturbance next door. Some crazy poon would beat his daughter and say nasty things about --------- right outside our window! The cops had to be called on them twice! And you better get used to the smell of marijuana in the air because it's everywhere in this apartment complex Also, they might as well take out the ''gated entrance'' in their ads; the gates NEVER closed. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! Oh, and one more thing, you people in the office need to stop writing good things about this place because there isn't anything good about it!

Nice place!
This apartment complex has been the best I have lived at in my time of renting! I moved in a while ago and since then the management company has changed. When management changed they kept all the familiar faces that worked at the office and maintenance. The new management is doing great stuff and I have referred lots of people to come and look at the apartments. I see lots of carpet being replaced and different things going on around. The buildings and grounds look better and less noise than usual. The front gate closes at night and keeps some of the un-needed people out. I like it here and would never try to find a new apartment because all the places that have been built are crazy expensive!! Walnut Ridge gives me a good rate and a nice home.

Open for business?
I had to stop by the office one morning and the door was still locked at 9:00 am. At 9:05 I seen a Maint. guy inside look around a doorway towards me waiting outside. At 9:20 I knocked on the door and he unlocked it to let me in,..I asked "are you open for business or what?" at that point a office manager stepped out of a side office and answered my questions in a rude manner.

Also, there are small Red Ants inside the apartment everywhere and I dont cook..and dont have crumbs around at all. I always eat out because of my busy schedule. I have seen ants in my bed even. I will not re-sign my lease here!

I am doing fine here..
Every apartment has its own plus and minus. I have been here since Mar 2004, its not too bad. I live in the 3rd flr in a 2 bedroom. My apt does have few things broken like the closet doors and bathroom floor is ripping off, I have called the maintenance few times , they do come but they dont fix it completely. Other than that,I have no complaints, my house looks pretty with the stone fireplace, and slope roof,& I do like it here and always remember we get what we pay for. For 586.00 per month this is wat I can expect.

I like it here
I have always liked living at Walnut Ridge. Yes this is a large complex, but for the size, the staff is very ample. Maintenance is always out doing lots and lots of work, but they keep up well. The office is always busy and buzzing but that is a good sign. If it wasn't busy and nothing got done then I would understand people complaining. You basically get what you pay for. I have heard horror stories of other apartment complexes but I like it here and recommend it to friends and co-workers. The difficult people in this world, who don't pay rent and like to complain about every little thing, are for sure the negative ratings on this site!!

Great Place for Great Tenants
I have lived at Walnut Ridge for over a year now, not only was the staff professional and nice when I moved in but they have continued thre awesome customer service, when somethings broke, you call they come to fix it, when you are late with rent call ahead to notify, dont wait, and have respect for your neighbors and yourself this is where you live, be a good tenant and you will be treated with respect and kindness, be a bad one and you get treated as a bad one. Commone Sense!!!

Nice place to live
I lived at Walnut Ridge for quite a while and enjoyed. I have read several of these reviews and don't understand people who complain about it being old or things breaking or needing repairs, of course that is going to happen, the buildings WERE BUILT IN 1983!!!! I mean come on, it would be different if it was brand new, but your rent would be through the roof if you had everything new and if nobody had lived in the apartment before you, anything that happened could be your own damage.
The office staff was helpful when needed, but if they are short with you, they do have like 700 apartments to help with on a daily basis. The maintenance and staff do a good job when you keep in mind the amount of people and apartments there is to deal with! I would recommend living here, don't waste your $ going anywhere else and dealing with a huge corporation, this is nice and lots of apartments to choose from!

Relatively speaking, Walnut Ridge is nice!
The staff can sometimes be a little short with you, and maitenance may take a few days..........but what do you expect when you live in Corpus Christi? This isn't an extravagant city to live in in the first place and I wouldn't exactly say it's full of upper class citizens either!
Walnut Ridge could use more security, other than the security camera footage that is received through your personal television. Relatively speaking, however, Walnut Ridge is nicer than most places I've lived around here......these people that are complaining about incompetent staff need to learn how to spell before they start complaining about over exaggerated issues!
No, I don't work for Walnut Ridge...just a content resident!

Repulsive Living --> Read this before moving in!
*There is an infestation of sugar ants on the lower floors that can not be killed (even with Bengal ýfound at WalMart- which will kill things as large as geckos).
*The grounds ARE NOT SAFE at night and there are numerous car break-ins and apartment theft issues.
*The grounds are not well maintained unless you live in plain view of the office.
*The GATES NEVER CLOSE, you donýt even need an opener at that thought. For ý a year the gates have only closed 3 times!!
*The move-in cost was far more than the $99 they said it would be and they didnýt inform us that the apartment that we wanted had come available so we got stuck somewhere else on property.
*The office staff is incompetent. Nothing they do is right.... but it is forgivable because it is "human error" as they claim. The manager is the only person who really seems nice. She sticks up for her office staff though and some of them need to be fired!
-NORMA from the front is as worthless as they come. She is deceptive, incompetent, rude, uncaring, and cold in all aspects. The office staff is more like office brats, their way or no way. Who ever wrote "very nice staff, very nice apartments" was lyingýI wouldnýt be surprised if it was the staff.
*They will miss charge you for anything that they can. I have a page and a half of work orders that I gave to them on move in and none of them have even been fixed yet. Our bathroom door is off the hinges and still hasnýt been fixed.
*Our air conditioning was broken for three days before they decided that we needed air in this summer heat.
* $200 electric bill because their units are old and out dated. They won't even fix them right! It took us three work men before one came in that had a clue as to what he is doing. He has been the only saving grace here!
*This is a pathetically repulsive community!! Donýt move in if you even partially expect safety or respect to be a priority!
*The "CHEAPER RENT" isn't worth it because they really do tack on so many ridicules charges that more than make up for another apartment. At this point I could have moved into an apartment that was double this price and still be getting by cheaper.
*This is an AWEFUL place to live!
Find somewhere else
I had just moved to Corpus from a very small town when I moved into Walnut Ridge. The ladies in the front office were always very short with me. I look very young and lived by myself and one of the ladies asked me how I was going to afford living there which I thought was very rude. The first thing I noticed about my apartment was that I didn't have a door to my bedroom. I called the front office 5 times to report it, told the matnience guy about it, and even wrote it on the sheet they gave me at the beginning to record all the things that were wrong with the apartment. I broke the lease to my apartment. When I first talked about breaking my lease they told me that it would be $500 for breaking it. When I went to actually break it, one of the ladies told me that it was going to be $1500 in all. I had a horrible experience here.

This place sucks
I would never live here again if it was the last apartment complex on earth!!! I don't even know where to begin on the problems, but I'll try:

1. rude service
2. Bugs---everywhere!!!
3. Bad AC/ leaks, feezes up---results in extremely high electric bill.
4. Leaks in ceiling, walls, and ac
5. Mold on walls, windows, and ceilings.
6. Absolutely terrible maintance.
----they used my new dining room chairs as a ladder!!! No I'm not kidding. Also, when they painted, they didn't cover my Big Screen TV--didn't even offer to clean it.
7. Flooding
8. Car theift

I hope you don't decide to live here. The price may seem like a plus, but it ended up costing me more in damages to my stuff and my high electric bills. I should have looked at more than the price for my decision, I hope you will too!!!

DO NOT MOVE HERE!
5 adults and 7 children living in a 2 bedroom apartment above me. Which is illegal and management does not care. It´s like they sleep in shifts so someone can always be awake to jump around and make noise. Children running back and forth at 2 am in the morning on a school night is rediculous! My daughter´s grades have gone down and teacher says she´s falling asleep in class, she can not sleep at night for all the noise. Office will not do anything about it. Never able to get all of our mail and forget about package delivery. You can not trust the office to give you the right package. They gave my someone else´s package on time and I had to take it back to the office. What if I were not honest? some people would just keep it. Maybe that is why 2 of my pkgs have been lost. Dirty garbage all over the place. Including dirty women´s products laying on the ground when you are trying to walk with your children to the car and it takes maintenance 2 weeks to clean it up! That´s disgusting. No problem with roaches but apt is infested with fleas and management refuses to spray for anything but roaches. Had to pay for exterminator myself. Had to repair both toilets myelf because maintenance says they are too busy. Air conditioner runs 24/7 because the unit looks to be about 40 yrs old. Electric bill over $200 in a 2 bedroom apt! When compalain about AC running too much and not cooling properly they send some gimp that just looks at it, scratches his head, and leaves. This has happened 3 times he doesn´t even say anything just leaves without doing anything. If you try to ask him a question he looks at you and walks off. Is he a mute? I don´t know, he definately does not know how to repair AC. The fridge is also really old and runs all the time. We have our own new fridge but they won´t let us bring it in. Carpet is stained all over and smelled like a wet dog when we moved in. Cars are always denting my car in the parking lot people don´t know how to park or open their doors too far and then hit your car. Dumpsters are always overfull. Living in this apt complex is like living in the projects.

Horrible
We kept a very tidy apartment, but for some reason ours was INFESTED with ants that the exterminator could NOT get rid of. We finally found it pointless to even have him spray. It was disgusting. It was not only our apartment, but several of our neighbors had the same problem. One person had an infestation of roaches and black mold. These apartments should be condemned and we are very happy to have left here. I would NEVER recommmend anyone live here. Not only that, but the parking is bad, people are always down in the parking lot yelling and playing their loud rap music at 1 a.m. and almost everyone in the complex has stupid alarms on their cars, so when it is windy, every alarm goes off OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. Pathetic.

Very nice apts. Very nice staff
I LOVE living here. My kids love the recreation available. The staff was very friendly when we moved in. And have gotten even more friendly, as we have gotten to know eachother. I was afraid I´d feel uncomfortable, going to tan, etc.... in such a nice place. I am from a small town in Kansas, and have never lived in an apartment before. But, they make me feel right at home. I love seeing the men pick up trash in the morning. And the grounds are kept very well-groomed. Some people just always have to complain. But I don´t understand the comments I have read here. I had ALOT of things messed up when we moved in. As is common when someone moves into a new place. The people who move seldon leave it in tip-top shape. I had them doing repairs for weeks. But they got it all done, and never once acted rude or put out by me. (And I am a stickler. I want what I pay for.) I will admit it was not cleaned to my specifications when I moved in. But, that´s me. I give Walnut Ridge a VERY HIGH RECOMMENDATION!!!

Bad,Bad,Bad
I lived in Walnut Ridge for 11 months.I had a 12 month lease but moved out early and even paid my last months rent. I just could not stand it there. For starters I had a bad AC, reported it 3 times and it took 2 months for anyone to look at it. After they finally fixed it I received an electric bill for $300 for 1 month. I told the office that I should not have to take care of it because it was from the messed up AC. They told me I should have reported the problem and follwed up. They were not resposible. So I paid it. When I moved in the lady that gave me the tour told me that the carpet was to be removed after that year because it was old and nasty. we said ok. when I moved out my roomate and I spent 1 full day cleaning. We cleaned everything except the carpet. When I called about getting my deposit back I was told I owed money plus they were keeping my deposit for cleaning and carpet cleaning. Why would you need to clean a carpet that was being removed???? When I told them what I was told at the begeninng of my lease they told me I should have gotten it in writing and that the girl who told us this no longer worked there so they could not do anything. I asked them about my deposit and they said it was to take care of all of the damage. There was no damage done by us so I just told them to keep the deposit and I would not pay the $75. Now 2 years later I am trying to buy a house and I found a $75 note on my credit report from Walnut Ridge.

Super Friendly up front, Rude and Ugly to service
As most businesses that understand customer service. This complex is extremely friendly to you as a Prospect Tenant. However, when you become a Tenant, they have no sense of appreciation to YOU as the Tenant. They treat you as a potential problem, instead of the person contributring to thier bills, salaries and PROFITS!

unfair treatment
I really like this apartment and the area is very handy, however, the staff is very unfriendly and uncooperative. My rent was paid this month on time but my lease was due(which I forgot due to a medical emergency). Instead of picking up the phone or putting a note on my door saying something like "hey, your lease is up and you owe x number of dollars more," they waited until all kinds of late fees could be assessed and THEN they put a very nasty note on my door making threats of eviction and so forth. When I went to the office the agent was very unfriendly and uncooperative. When I asked who owned the property, she replied,"we don´t give out that kind of information." Well, according to Texas law, she does have to. Since then I have discovered that this is their way of doing business. Instead of prior notification of rent increase and a new lease being due, they wait on everyone so that extra fees can be assesed. Yes, I know the tennents should keep up with when the lease is up but the treatment is very unfair. I would NOT reccomend this property to anyone. NOTE: my rent was raised $60.00 and some others $75.00 to $100.00 per month. I HAVE NEVER BEEN LATE WITH THE RENT AND USUALLY PAID 5 TO 7 DAYS AHEAD OF TIME.
