THE NEW MANAGER IS HORRIBLE!!!
Oh! That manager is horrible oh my god, she look so mean she don t even treat residents good, am so disappointed about having that as our community manager. About two weeks ago we had Rene, he was great very nice and helpful to all residents I just don t understand why he left, we all am sure we like him but I don t know why he left, I hate to say that I don t want that manager here, I will prefer having another one and not her, I think she started last week, but I still saw Rene in office with her, but now he is gone! Maintenance is great I love him! He helps all the time just like Rene great people. I do not recommend any body to move here because that manager does not do or treat people well at all or help.

Great First Place
This place is a great "fist place" when moving out. It's the most affortable complex in the North Arlington Area and its close to all the great places to hang out. It's 5 minutes away from Georgetown, Clarendon, Courthouse, Ballston, Rt 66., etc. Its a fun area to live in. There are also many trails around it. And you can bike to Georgetown!! Its also right next to cute little restaurants and shops [There is a great brunch place just steps away]. The Gold s Gym is 2 miles from it, and pretty much everywhere in DC is about a $10-$15 cab ride away! PROS: THE APARTMENT: The apartment my roommate and I stayed at was nice. It was a 2 bedroom 1 full bath. Out of all the apartment complexes we looked around in, the rooms on this one was the most 'comparable.' One room wasn't too much bigger than the other, etc. It was 1005 sq ft. so it was SPACIOUS! It was a comfy place, and my apt had HUGE windows in it so there was a lot of light at all times. [Our apt faced Lee Highway the front of the complex]. The maintenance man was WONDERFUL! He took care of my roommate and I and was always very nice and VERY VERY helpful. He knows what costumer service really means. AND he knew what he was talking about every time we had a problem. There was also plenty of Washer/Dryer in the complex [located in the basement], and it was only a couple of times where I had to wait for a dryer. [Keep in mind that Sundays are Laundry days for most]. We never had problems with water shut off [it only happened once really and it was the replace the pipes], or having no hot water, or any equipment in the apartment breaking [i.e. stove, dishwasher, etc.]. All our appliances were new and the carpets were new when we moved in. When we had a problem with the refigerator, they replaced it. Also this was the few complexes in the N. Arlington area that didn't require a monthly pet fee. CLEANLINESS: The place was clean, and we didn t have too many bugs. There was an occasional cockroach, but keep in mind, that place was not built in 2007. For the year that I spent in that apartment, I saw about 5-10 small cockroaches or spiders. PARKING: For a 2 bedroom, we were allowed 2 parking spots and we always had parking. There were only about 2 incidences where the parking lot was full, and then after we reported that the tenants had no parking, they started to strictly enforce their towing policy. THE NEIGHBORHOOD: As a young female, I ALWAYS felt safe in the neighborhood and in our apartment complex. I was able to jog around the neighborhood and the trails without feeling scared. The people were friendly, and even though it was close to the city, some of the neighborhoods I jogged was very much suburbia. CONS: THE APARTMENT: The walls were thin, I could hear people s conversation right through the walls. Fortunately I m a heavy sleeper, so that never bothered me. But, if you re a light sleeper it maybe a problem. You may want to get a room NOT next to another apartment. Since our room was right infront of Lee Highway, you ll be able to hear EVERYTHING, i.e. the morning metro bus at 6 a.m. [I need to be at work by 7 am so its not too bad] But if you don t have to be at work until 9-10 then it may bother you. Also there is only 1 VERY slow elevator in the complex. THE MANAGEMENT: This was the ABSOLUTE WORST thing in that apartment. There was a time of limbo where the complex didn t even have a manager [i think they still don't], and it was just a mess. No one was at the office during office hours, I could never reach anyone by phone, and the people from their corporate office that worked there were not courteous at all! My roommate and I felt like no one knew what they were talking about. In order for her to resolve her problem she had to talk to the General Manager! Their office hours say until 5, but I get home around 4-5 and every time I pass by the office NO ONE is there. Presently, my roommate and I are STILL trying to straighten things out with an issue we re having since August 2007 an issue that should only take them 1 day to solve.

New Manager is Horrible
The new manager at Wood Lee Arms is awful. She has been arond for almost a year now. She is extremely rude to people. She did not even have the decency to tell me until my date of renewal that my rent was increasing 80 dollars per month. She lied and claimed that she sent me a letter underneath my door and in my mailbox. I even spoke with her boss about how rude she is and he seemed to care less. This says a lot for Grady Management (parent company).

The only good thing about Wood Lee Arms is the maintenance guy. He does what he can to fix everybody's problems. Lately people have been leaving their trash spread all across the laundry room. There are cracks in the ceilings of my apartment. I cannot even guess when the last time there the vents were cleaned. The vent in the bathroom has not worked since I moved here. Obviously they have painted over the existing paint many times over the past 50 years. It was disgusting to see in the bathroom that whoever painted in there painted over hair on the ceiling and walls. It is disgusting to see hair permanently encrusted into the ceiling. Now they won't even accept personal checks for rent anymore.

This place used to be OK under the old management. Now it is going completely downhill. Anoter upside to the place is the amount of parking offered. One other thing I noticed about the new manager. She made the first 3 spots "New Resident Parking" only from 8am-7PM M-F. Conveniently, she now has a parking spot right at the front of the building. RENTERS BEWARE! DO NOT MOVE TO WOOD LEE ARMS UNLESS YOU ARE IN ABSOLUTE DIRE NEED OF A PLACE.

cockroaches everywhere
At first, I was quite happy to live here. The maintenance man makes you feel so welcome. He is quite overworked and is not the reason why there are so many problems with the building & management.

Roaches are a huge problem. They came 3 times to exterminate and not once did it make a bit of difference. Despite the requests that there were literally dozens of roaches that I saw, it was almost a month until they came again to exterminate once more. (I don't even want to think about how many roaches were there that I didn't see).

I came home once to find my kitchen wall being repainted due to water damage from the floor above. No warning or note saying that anyone had been there (although they left the seat up in my bathroom.)

Noise is a problem, as well. A number of loud neighbors, thin walls, and lots of people hanging on the front stoop at night didn't make the environment any better. I could have lived with that but the cockroaches were too much of a problem that went on unresolved for much too long.

Don't live here!
In all honesty, don't live here unless you like the ------! I've lived here for 2 years and am psyched to get out. The management is a bunch of morons (we've gone through 6 managers in 2 years between weekend and weekday!!!), there are roaches EVERYWHERE!!!!, all the ------ latinos BLAST their spanish music, the elevator is the SLOWEST on earth!, they have the nerve to charge you 3 bucks for a laundry card and then raise the price of using the dryers, their is mold everywhere....just don't do it!

Complete dump!
Lived here for 4 years, place is falling apart around our heads. Serious mold issues in the bathroom, bedrooms, and living room. Air conditioning units leak from one floor to the next. Sofits are falling apart from lack of repair and when notified about the damage it takes weeks and sometimes months to repiar, IF it gets repaired at all. Caulking is oozing out from under the bathroom tile whenever we shower. Bathroom wall near the tub has fallen out twice from a water leak in the pipes. ROACHES and ants everywhere from the apartments, elevator, and laundry room. It seems any money spent on fixing the building has been nothing but cosmetic. Hot water has been an issue since we have moved in. When it finally comes through the pipes it is plentiful, just hope you're not in a hurry for it because it takes forever. We have made several complaints to the rental office. Little effort has been made on their part to get things fixed properly. The water damage in our living room and bathroom was so extensive at one point, and after complaining to the rental office several times nothing was done. We had to take pictures of the damage and send it to the home office with a threatening letter in order to get it fixed. A few weeks later the water damage returned. We have been unhappy with our apartment here since we have moved here. Don't let the cosmetic fixes lure you into a lease. They're only temporary. We have finally had enough with the lack of proper management and the "plagues" that we decided to move.

Decent building, nothing exciting, nothing terrible
Wood Lee Arms provides perfectly acceptable housing. It is not luxurious and it is not a dump. The staff is friendly but not prompt in responding to things. There is one very friendly maintenance man for the complex who has to do most of the cleaning, landscaping and maintenance on 90 units. Too much for one person, so non-emergencies can take a while to get fixed.

The location is good. You are convenient to I-66 and the George Washington Parkway. Both these roads provide access to I-495.

Like most/all of north Arlington, the neighborhood is very safe. There is a quickie mart across the street that is open from 6 a.m. to midnight. There are several restaurants within a five minute walk, and two banks and two drug stores within a ten minute walk. Five minute drive to Safeway for groceries.

Plenty of free parking.

The ceilings are very thin so you will hear the people above you walking around, talking, watching television, and even snoring! If you have an apartment that faces Lee Hwy, you will hear a lot of traffic noise. The Metrobus starts running before 6 a.m. and doesn't stop until 1:30 a.m. If you have trouble sleeping if it is noisy, get an apartment that faces the parking lot.

The worst thing about the building is the roach problem. They treat one third of the building each month, and my theory is that the roaches migrate to the section with the oldest treatment. They come and go. Mostly I see them near the trash room (duh), which is next to the elevator so be prepared to ride the elevator with some "friends". Every few months, I see one or two in my apartment. Then they go away again. I keep roach bait out and I think this helps a lot. Overall the roach problem is annoying but not overwhelming or unlivable.

Pluses:
* All utilities included
* Apartments are very spacious
* They paint and replace carpet between tenants
* Staff is friendly
* Plenty of free parking
* Large mailboxes
* 7-Eleven-like quickie mart across the street
* Bus to Metro out front
* Several restaurants < 5 minute walk
* Drug store, banks < 10 minute walk
* Safe neighborhood
* Maintenance does get done, though not promptly

Minuses:
* Floors/ceilings are thin -- you WILL hear the people above you
* (Walls are thick though, so you won't hear your neighbors)
* Intermittent roach problem... they come and go. I wouldn't avoid the building due to the roaches unless you really, truly can't stand them. It isn't too bad.
* While staff is friendly, they are very slow to respond to anything but a true emergency
* Rental office opens at 10 am and closes at 5... so if they sign for a package for you, you're not getting it until the weekend
* Carpet is very cheap and gets dirty very fast. Rent a steam cleaner at Safeway every 6 months if you want to keep things clean.
* Bathroom ceiling doesn't look great; they don't do proper drywall repairs after a leak
* Laundry room often has broken machines, and more dryers than not don't completely dry your clothes
Nice basic apartment
This is one of the nicer cheaper apartments I found in my search through northern Arlington, VA. It's in a nice and safe neighboorhood with a free parking lot! There are no frills (i.e., pool, workout room, etc) but if you are just starting out and want a nice and safe place to live this is good. It's also in a great location and close to DC and lots of shopping and restaurants.

Nice staff and people but serious roaches
I have lived here for eight months. While the staff and other tenants are very nice and the apartments are spacious, there is a serious problem with roaches. I spent the first three months trying to stop the roach infestation in my apartment with every method imaginable and was not succesful until I coated the corners of my floors with boric acid. Now I have only three to five a week that come in my apartment from the hall and die. In the hallways the infestation is crazy. I usually see about 3 to 7 a day just taking the neccesary steps to and from my apartment. If it weren´t for the roaches it would be a good place. It is just a major pain to worry about another infestation all the time and about roaches running around when people visit you. So if you dislike bugs at all you should look somewhere else.

I recommend it
I have lived in the building for 6 months now and enjoy it. The studio I live in is large compared to what I´ve seen in other apartment buildings. The management office staff are very nice, maintenance is excellent, clean and bright apartments, plently of free parking, nice neighbors,
and in a nice neighborhood. Close to shops, restaurants, banks, and food stores. The only thing I wish it did have is a pool and a gym but it is an older building so there is no room for either.

good but no frills
I like my apartment. it´s big and has decent
carpet. This is a great location and the neighbors are all nice. Don´t expect the gym, pool and other stuff. This is a good place to move if you are saving for a place of your own or a just starting out.
