Living here is pretty great if you can afford it. The 4th floor is extremely quiet. I cannot hear neighbors unless they are in the hall. The community is safe and friendly. There are no pest issues. The problems are the price for what you get. It is a new build so it was hastily put together. Flooring doesn't align and paint splatters are everywhere. The appliances are average. The heating doesn't seem to stay very well in the living room/kitchen, possibly an insulation issue. The shower only stays hot for 15-20 minutes and has terrible water pressure even after changing the head to one made to create better pressure. The elevator is extremely slow and the doors take a long time to close if someone isn't pushing the close button. They reduced guest parking for commercial spots so much that there is rarely parking for guests on the weekends. I am in income restricted paying $1590 rent for a 1 bedroom (electric and wifi making it over $1700) and while it is a great place to live, I can't justify the expense. I would love to live here, wouldn't have a problem with any of the above issues, and recommend it if the price was not so high. Living here is pretty great if you can afford it. I absolutely love living at The Ella. Like any shared living community there are going to be things you're going to dislike but I'm not finding any so far. Management and maintenance have been friendly and professional since day one. The community is very clean and quiet which is perfect. I barely hear my neighbors so I forget that I have them at times. The unit is beautiful and super spacious for it to be a small one bedroom plus the community amenities and social events are great. Giving my living experience here a 10/10

The community here at the Ella has been fabulous. The people that live at the Ella are great. However, some of the staff are unhelpful and don't have much understanding. The parking is not very good and you often have to walk a good distance to get to your building. That distance feels very long if you're a woman and have to make it at night. Also the building seems like it was built in 5 days. Meaning, the outlets fall out, fuses sound like they're going to explode when the ac, oven or microwave turns on. It just depends on what you want. You can have a good community that hangs out with each other but you'll have to pay a lot in rent for a poorly designed building.

Love this apartment complex, very responsive staff. If you have a concern they will call you back that day. Maintenance Is very kind and very quick with fixing any issues. The only down side is the parking is limited on both side of the buildings so you may have to walk a little ways.

It's been a really great experience, from our initial viewing until now. The staff has always been extremely responsive and kind. I was once trying to vaccuum out my car and they helped be find an outdoor spot where I could plug in and do so. Whenever we have questions they always respond quickly. There are a few downsides but really it's related to apartment living i.e. people picking up after their pets, noises, etc. One thing that I find concerning is the ease to which people let in others into the building. I always make sure that no one can come in after me or get into the building unless I see they have a key fob or recognize them from the building.

The Ella is a great place to live. The apartments are well put together, the service team responds quickly and efficiently, the amenities are in line with the rent, and overall it's a great value. No complaints.

Ver smooth move in process and staff are incredibly helpful! General maintenance items needing to be fixed but nothing major and kind of expected with any apartment. Easily the nicest of all the places I've looked at.

I recently moved into the Ella and had I great experience thus far. I was moving to Richmond from out of state on short notice for a job and had never even been to Richmond. Jewel was so helpful throughout the application and move in process going out of her way to ensure everything was ready when I arrived. Thanks to Jewel I was able to apply, sign a lease, and get my keys in less than 3 days. I truly can't thank her enough. Since then my experience at the Ella has been great, my unit is beautiful, the amenities are fantastic, all the employees have been so kind, and the complex is SUPER dog friendly which I love. Overall, I would highly recommend the Ella based on my experiences thus far.

The Ella has a great staff that were very accommodating during the leasing process and on move in day. The community is very well maintained and the quality for price is really solid. I would recommend moving here if you were unhappy with your current management or amenities

Not good and I would recommend looking elsewhere for the amount of money it costs to live at this community. In reality, I've reported 4 issues and as of today only 1 has been resolved 100%. The maintenance staff is really nice and typically does good work but my lost recent issue left some room for improvement. The office staff doesn't care about the resident issues here and it's nothing they try to hide.

Apartments are poorly built and what you are charged is too much for what is received in the apartment and for the service you receive. I've lived in Carver in a larger single apartment that was 500$ less than this apartment where I had a better experience despite being in a super old building and paying less.

I moved into The Ella this spring when I moved to Richmond for work. So far, I have only had good experiences. Lots of young professionals around sharing the common areas. Leasing office and maintenance available for assistance. The construction and noise complaints from previous tenants have not been an issue at all since I have lived here. I think most of those complaints stemmed from the construction of the Marriott adjacent to the property. Now that that has concluded there have been no issues.

New build, still trying to get things figured out. Communicative staff, reasonable and dog friendly. Very expensive. Really love the pool area and clubhouse. I pay for a parking space so parking doesn't affect me, but I could see where some people get frustrated

The Ella has been a wonderful place to live. In the beginning, there were definitely hiccups, but the staff has been absolutely stellar. Now, almost a year later, The Ella has become a premier residence in Scotts Addition. I absolutely love it here and would recommend it to everyone.

There was a lot of early promises that sounded great. Residents were promised free covered parking and as soon as the building filled up with residents, a $75 per month fee was implemented for the covered parking spots. The water pressure in my shower is so subpar that the water from the shower head does not even reach the back half of the bathtub. The amenities are pretty nice but there are pretty much the same as every other apartment complex in Scotts Addition. The Ella share a parking lot with a hotel and a failed construction project. The Ella is overpriced in my opinion.

This is a good community for folks in their twenties! The rent is reasonable and the apartment building is new and clean. Their are definitely some kinks with parking, valet trash, noise, etc. but the staff is very friendly, helpful, and willing to listen and address concerns where they can. The apartments are a good size and decent quality, and the community facilities are quite nice.

It has been a wonderful, clean, safe, and friendly place to live. There have been very minor issues that don't effect my day to day lifestyle, however I get to a point where I do not want to leave at night on the weekends because I am afraid I won't find parking when I return. This is 99% due to the hotel opening next door and parking not being properly managed.

The Ella is in a great location ? outside Scott's Addition, but close enough to walk and still engage with the community. The pool is fantastic, as is the deck and the roof top. My apartment is fantastic: new, but clean and sleek. The only downsides? The parking, but that's not an issue to me as it is for others because this complex at least has options. Other places don't have that liberty. I'll definitely renew.

My experience has been rather poor. I moved here without ever visiting Richmond. The staff failed to inform me that there was a new hotel being constructed less than 30 feet from my window. This has been a huge inconvenience as construction starts as early as 6 am some days and goes as late as 7 pm. I also moved in before many of the amenities (or even parking lot) were completed as have never received any sort of compensation for anything. There has also been many false fire alarms creating some of a hazard in the event of a real emergency. As well as many security issues with the package room and numerous packages getting stolen every week.

Conveniently located within walking distance to Scott's Additon. Apartments are very nice as well as the amenities. Leasing staff are friendly and very responsive. There is always a contest or resident activity occurring to keep residents engaged.

I have lived at the Ella since July 2021 and I have been thoroughly disappointed ever since I moved in. To be concise, the Ella quite literally has weekly false fire alarms that are extremely annoying and last for over half an hour each time. This should be deterrent enough to not live here because management is incapable of even controlling a fire alarm. It also feels like a safety hazard since there have been so many false alarms that a real one would not cause the residents to evacuate. On top of that, management has not delivered on promises time and time again. For example, 1. They promised free parking then instituted paid reserved parking in the most convenient spots out of the blue. 2. I was told construction of the Ella and it’s adjoined shops would be done in September 2021. It is January 2022 and they are nowhere near done. 3. I was promised wifi was available in ready on move in day. The coaxial cables for my unit were not even installed on move in causing me to not have wifi for two weeks which is very inconvenient for someone who works from home. Also, before you rent you should consider that you are paying an above average price for a “luxury” apartment. I have had to submit multiple service requests for the subpar appliances in my unit and which one service request was completely ignored. I cannot stress this enough, do your research before you move here. Simply look at the google reviews and see what the current residents are saying. Don’t listen to my single opinion, all the residents here are upset

At this point I would recommend that anyone looking for a newer apartment community centrally located in Richmond check out the Ella. While it took a little longer than everyone expected for construction to be complete, the leasing office has been very responsive when I've need to reach out to them and overall did a good job resolving some parking and mail issues that came up as the building filled up. The amenities, including the pool, are top notch for the Richmond and the location is super convenient to Scott's, the Fan/Museum District and areas like Willow Lawn. The noise dampening between my apartment and the unit above is lacking, which is a shame. Otherwise it's been pretty quiet, at least in my section of the building, which is important since I work from home. Parking isn't bad - you pay $60 for a reserved, covered space or just use the general parking spots. Guest parking is fine as long as no one arrives too late in the evening.

Really disappointed so far. Was excited to move here, but it’s been one disappointment after another. Construction was promised to be done at the end of August. It’s November and construction isn’t nearly finished. They also start working super early like 6am or 7am which is noisy and wakes me up. The complex doesn’t look like what it was marketed as on their website. Apartments also don’t look the same as was marketed on their website. They’re nice but not THAT nice. There’s constantly trash and dog poop everywhere. Especially on the weekends. Broken bottles of alcohol. Food trash left in parking lot. Apartments are not well sound insulated at all nor were they constructed well. There was paint all over our floors upon move in as well as construction dust. There’s not enough parking for everyone living here and they’re telling us to go park 3 blocks down the street. I do not feel at all safe doing that at night as a woman. They reserved like half of the parking and are trying to charge $75/month for it but no one wants to pay that so the spots just sit empty. The package room is a chaotic mess. It seems impossible to find anything and neighbors are consistently reporting things getting stolen or going missing. There's no organization and packages are just thrown anywhere and everywhere. I’ve had several packages go missing or get stolen. One of the elevator breaks at least once a week and it is the ONLY elevator that goes to our floor, which makes us take 5 flights of stairs. Would not recommend living here. Had high expectations and have been consistently let down. Definitely not worth the price.

Very clean and modern apartments with nice appliances. As this community was recently built and construction was still in process, there was a lack of communication on how to access mail, submit maintenance requests, use the portal etc. Gym and pool are beautiful and usually not too crowded. Community events happen often which are nice. Office staff is friendly. Sometimes neighbors can be a little rowdy/loud on weekends nights. Parking after work hours can be a big head ache and is only getting worse. Overall a nice community with convenient access to many local restaurants and bars.
