Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 2 bedroom and they just tried to up my rent another 10% after they just raised it 15% 9 months ago. The management never returns calls on a timely basis. They tried to raise my rent to $2,600, I ended up negotiating it to $2,250 only to find out my neighbor who had just signed his lease in the exact unit next door is only paying $1,750. Look elsewhere, the only reason I´m here is because they take pets. Everything else sucks.

Overpriced
Nothing special, good location. Paying 2,500 on 7/01 for 2 level townhouse, neighbors are paying between 2,400 and 3,000. Management is acting like they can´t lower the rents and they are doing everyone a favor. Talk to your

neighbor before you renegotiate your lease. My rent was 2,195 18 months ago, mgmt. tried to raise it to 2,700. You can rent a house

in Foster city for 2,900 and live in a fantastic new apt. at Bridgepoint for 2,100-2,500 with new renter bonuses, and a free month rent.

Lots of noise
Not that our nieghbors had frequent parties. They were decent people. But the day-to-day living noises easily penetrated the paper-thin walls and ceilings. Babies crying in the unit next door, the man upstairs urinating and flushing, etc. - all came through clearly. These are cheaply-built apartments, but rent is anything but cheap. Look elsewhere.

ok, too expensive, horrible service
This is a pretty nice place. Although old (hence the insulation sucks) it´s reasonably well maintained. However, service stinks. When they fix things it´s done very ad-hoc and usually breaks again (such as a loose tile in the entrance that was loose again a week later). They closed down both pools for maintainance for more than 3 weeks without a prior announcement or any updates about reopenings (in hot June!). Nobody seemed to care and I only got the usual "we are sorry for your inconvenience". Don´t expect them be there for you - they happily take your check and then concentrate on getting their next vicitims.
If you do decide to go there - negotiate. I got more than $200 off my monthly rent over the official rate ($2050 back then).

Current Tenant Speaks
Hello all-

I am a current tenant at Schooner Bay Condominiums in Foster City. Overall it is a nice place to live. I decided on Schooner Bay because they allow pets, and being a dog owner, the choices in the Bay Area is extremely limiting.
Now, even though I am happy to live in such a beautiful community like Foster City, I have to say that the rent that I am paying is not worth it. It is a seventeen year old apartment complex, with insulation problems. The windows let in a dreadful draft and the heat (not counting the recent PG&E increases in the bill) literally goes out the window. The insulation isn´t wonderful, and there have been many times where I find myself shivering, while my thermostat is permanently positioned at 70 degrees.
Also, things like the kitchen cabinets look like something from twenty years ago.
The pro´s of living here is that it is so close to the SF levee, where one can run, walk or ride a bike. Also there are two well kept pools in the complex, an okay gym and a wadher and dryer in the apartment. Those ammenities are nice- but don´t those things cloud your judgement.
Like I said- Schooner Bay isn´t a bad place to live. However it isn´t exactly worth the rent that they ask for. I took it because I have a dog, so for me- it was an acceptible choice. If it weren´t for the heating and insulation problems (which they do not plan on fixing any time soon!) then I would be a pretty happy camper.

Good Luck-
Schooner Bay Resident
