Eagle Ridge

We lived at Eagle Ridge Apartments for 2 years to save up money to buy a house in a good suburb. It was a good value for the size of the apartment we had rented. However, there were quiet a few things that we were not happy with. First of all, the general condition of the apartment. It had been vacant when we moved in, but the carpeting was in very sorry shape; stained, worn out, and buckling and peeling back in areas. The windows were very poor quality and the installation left much to be desired. There were cracks in between the walls and windows, allowing a cold ***wind*** to come through. Not just a little - actual cold gusts. We ended up re-caulking all the windows and buying plastic insulation to put over windows in the winter. The laundry facilities had 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. For the entire time we lived there the second washing machine worked for may be about a month total. Most of the time the front panel was hanging off the front on the wires. For about the first year and a half we had no neighbors. Than we had people move in upstairs... Wow. We could hear ***every*** single thing said (mostly yelled) and the numerous children running was like a miniature earthquake. They must have been large children. When we moved out, it took about 3 months to get our security deposit back, since the complex was bought out by another managing company. Needless to say, we were VERY happy to move out and into our house.

What Kind of people work here???

I want to know if this place screens their employees. I saw their Maintenance man (name of accused blocked) at a party and he was doing drugs. This man is the foulest person I have met in a long time. He brags that he poops in tenants apartments if he's working in there and the urge strikes. He takes naps in the middle of the day when no one can reach him. He is very corrupt. Things he was telling me about his job chilled my bones. I sure am not going to call in any more work orders. I don"t want scum like that in my apartment. Plus, I was told that a two bedroom apartment max was four tenants and they all had to be on the lease. Why don't these rules apply to them? He tells me his sister, brother, cousin and two friends live in his two bedroom apartment with him. Hello? Isn't that more than four? Plus, he probably gets his two bedroom apartment at a huge discount, if not rent free. I know he is part of the old staff, but the old staff must have kept him on track. It just seems like everything is going downhill. On the surface it is OK, but dig a little, ask a question. They have no answers and are hiding things. My lease is up soon. I need to move. Anyone know where Angie, Shelly and Jennifer are??? They never deceived me or led me on. If they did't know the answer, they got the answer. Very honest and trustworthy people.

      Deceptive and Dirty

This new management company is awful. I have never seen such a group of self centered people who think they know everything. The changes they are making are not positive ones. They seem to forget that we are people, and now are being displaced from our homes. Hello, if you people from Jupiter are listening...NOT EVERYONE ON HOUSING ASSISTANCE LIVE UP TO THE REPUTATIONS THAT YOU BELIEVE TO BE FACT. Some people on housing are just trying to work and live right. How dare you. Plus, your Maintenance Supervisor is an IDIOT!!!! He doesn't know anything other than how to charge people for problems that he never fixed in the first place. Is he certified to do this job? I think all tenants deserve an answer. Why does he not know how to fix anything? Especially in a place where everything is beginning to show its age and need repair. FORGET YOU!!! I'M OUTTA HERE!!!

        Management Unprofessional

I recently moved in to EAGLE RIDGE APARTMENTS and my experience has not been good at all. The apartment was not ready when they said it was going to be. The maintenance issues that the unit required took almost two months to finally address. The washing machines do not clean the clothes well and often times do not soak the clothes all the way through. Finally I recently decided to start going to a laundramat. And no where in their contract does it say that the laundry card is the same card used to get into the gym facility. I asked them to show me in their contract where it stated this, Shelly indicated to me I was right it didn't. When I stopped using their laundry facility I was told that to replace the laundry card to get in to the gym would cost me $20.00, when I spoke with the assistant manager, Shelly, she was rude, short with me on the telephone and in the end hung up the call on me. Jennifer is the only good thing at that place, but unfortunately she can't do much in her limited position there. Management is rude and unprofessional.

            Great Beginning Home

I lived at Eagle Ridge for 4 years with my two small son's. I found it to be great. The hallways and laundry facilities were nice and clean. The price was affordable. I did not have any problems with the management team or the maintenance staff. They were professional and at the same time kind.
The prior review's really did not make any sense to me. Any place you go you will have the people that choose to live like animals. It's a choice to make a difference in our surroundings. WE MAKE ThAT CHOICE!

              Not happy

I'm going on my second year living at Eagle Ridge. My first year here was complete hell, I was in one of the older buildings (1972) on the first floor and could hear EVERYthing above me. The people had 4 kids and they jumped off of every available surface in their apartment. They often had parties and threw their garbage and puke (yes people puked) off of their balcony onto my patio. They blared their music until all hours of the night, it was horrible. I called and complained multiple times and NOTHING was done. I paid my rent on-time ($730 a month, was clean, kept to myself, and still nothing was done for me. However, they did have a newer apartment opening up in the new phase on the first floor. I was certainly cautious, but if I broke my lease with them and found somewhere else to stay, I'd lose my deposit. Even though I was moving for reasons that were THEIR fault, for letting a bunch of idiots trash their apartment above me.

Needless to say, I took the new apartment (at an extra $130 a month, even though its the same freaking layout) and am now happier since there is a single lady living above me and barely makes a peep.

However, the laundry facilities are a joke, the pole is a joke since everyone and their brother from Waukegan can walk right in, the slamming of doors and kids running all over the building is very annoying, the garbage dumpster area is disgusting. If you look at the buildings, you'd think they look clean and well kept, but they're not. I wouldn't recommend Eagle Ridge to anybody. As soon as my lease is up I'm out of here. OH, and when I moved to the new apartment, I had to sign a whole new year lease. Even though I was moving because they couldn't handle their tenants. This place is a joke.

                Community for a good start!

I have been living at Eagle Ridge Apartments for three years and I have had a good living experience. Staff is very helpful. My favorite features are the parking lot, staff assistance and maintenance. Something I dislike is the noise, which isn't so bad because my neighbors are usually quiet. Overall, I would recommend Eagle Ridge Apartments.

                  great place to live....

I just moved to Eagle Ridge about a month ago and I love it. I read the other comments and I don't know what they are talking about. I haven't had any problems and in fact everyone is very friendly. I am friends with almost everyone in my building and our kids play together. Also the staff is great. If I need anything they are always there for me. I just recentley put a work order in and it got done that day and they called back the next day to check up. I think that was very nice and dedicaded workers. Oh by the way not to mention the office made my move less stressful. They were great and they still are.

                    Everything here is tacky!

I never encountered so many white-trash, tacky people in my life as the people who live at Eagle Ridge. My neighbors would leave dirty shoes in the hallway and their garbage bags to stink up the place. I hated every minute of living here. The staff was fine, but how often do you need them??? Not often. Most of the time you have to deal with horrible parking situations and stupid neighbors. Keep looking. If you can afford somewhere nicer, it will be well worth it!!

                      Nightmare at Eagle Ridge

Eagle Ridge is a Nightmare as far as living. I have lived in a few apartments and really thought that eagle Ridge was nice. I was shown a model apartment and it was totally different from mine. When I moved in the hallway was filty and reamed ordors, the laundry room and hallways was full of smoke and not only cigarette smoke. The parking lot was full of garbage from people dropping it out of the windows. The building was not cleaned every week, it was once a month and it was filty. I would not refer anyone not even a dog or cat to live at Eagle Ridge. They need to put better storm windows up for the winter and they also need to add a few more washers and dryers for the tenants. They also pave the street which is fine, but they tell you if you have a garage then you would have to either leave your car in the garage for 24 hours, how are you suppose to get to work? And wait after the pavement dries or you can drive the car, but you cannot park it back in the garage, due to the pavement being wet and they are not going to pay for your car being vandalized nor are they going to reimburse you for not using your garage, that is the purpose for a garage, so that your car would not be vadalized. Like I said I would not recommend no one to apply at Eagle Ridge.

                        Don't waste your Money Here!

i moved into these apt's Oct 05. Winter here has pushed my gas bill up to about 200 b/c of the crapy construction of these apartments. The walls are super thin. I hear EVERYTHING that happens in my neighbors home...EVERYTHING!!!!! The heating system seems to be designed in the favor of our gas company b/c I swear it this apt never holds heat. It just seeps out of the windows. The laundry rooms are filthy!!! and the washers always break. Lets not mention that I paid 2500 just to move in the apt b/c of there strict rules just to qualify to move in the joint. But with those rules, we always have cops and undercover agnts in the complex. These apts had the right idea, the area is great but no place for kids..there isn't even a Playground for the 200 apts!!
Bad mistake to live here, can't wait for my lease to be up in Sept. Find another place!!!

                          crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They denied our application b/c my husband got a traffic ticket 4 years ago for having his radio to loud in the car. In the county we currently live in it was considered a misdemenor. So I guess he was just to big of a "RISK" b/c he got a ticket in his car 4 years ago even though the rest of our stuff like credit history and income and referels came back great. This place is a joke! and they lost out on some good renters over something so stupid!

                            Awesome place to live.

I have lived in Eagle Ridge apts for 2 years now. The office and maintenance staff are great. The place looks and is maintained very well. I dont know if some of the people who wrote these commets actually live here. I have seen up to 4 plow trucks here at one time after a snowfall removing snow ,and more removing snow from the sidewalks thats a Great Job! The only problem I have is with the some of the tenants they just dont care, you have a nice place to live and yet some tenants want to treat this place like a dump. This is very disturbing to me ,these people have a lack of concern and respect for their surroundings it just about makes me sick.I can not belive the Eagle Ridge staff is able to put up with some of these people and there living habits. Overall this place is great because there able to keep on top of it , and keep this place a nice place to live.

I used to live in a bad apt. complex so thats when I moved to Eagle Ridge. WOW what a difference and it's just down the street. I am very happy with my choice. The staff is friendly and professional and they make me feel at home. I am also impressed with the improvements in just this past year. They did the seal coating in the parking lot and it looks great. It was a little crazy for a few days with the parking, but it was worth it. They also put new carpet in the hallways of the bldg. Not only does it look great but it smells nice and fresh. Yes I would recommend Eagle Ridge to anyone.

I lived here briefly while waiting for my home to be completed. It was an absolute disaster!!!! The toilet leaked human waste back onto the floor and it took six months to have someone "fix" it. The problem was really poor construction (The floors were unleveled which ruined the doors to a very expensive armoire), so the toilet began to leak again within one month. What they say about thin walls, too many children, a ------ atmosphere, and poor snow removal is correct. Pair that with extremely rude office staff and poorly working appliances (the dishwasher never cleaned anything and the oven heated unevenly).

It was the worst place that I ever lived!!!

                                  Don't do it!

I have lived at Eagle Ridge Apartments for about 4 years now. The only reason I stay is because it is an inconvenience to relocate every year trying to find an adequate place to live.

I thought in the beginning that this was a really nice place to live. I moved into one of the newer phases, and no one had lived in my apartment before me. A brand new apartment just for me! Yeah! I moved in during the summer months. THEN, I had to experience a winter at Eagle Ridge Apartments. What an absolute nightmare!!! Snow removal here is unacceptable!! If I wanted to dig myself out of my parking space, I would buy a home. But, unfortunately, that's not an option for me right now. What is an option for me, is to sue the pants off of this apartment complex if I slip and fall because of it!!! I have NEVER in the 4 years I have lived here, seen ANYONE shoveling snow from the sidewalks....NO ONE!!

As far as how the apartments are themselves, they are ok. However, the freezing cold air seeps through the windows in the winter and I seem to have my heat on at all times. Not so ok when I see my heating bill.

The slamming of apartment doors is awful! Absolutely awful! Why do people think that's ok....it is inconsiderate to your neighbors.

Whomever came up with the ideas for the laundry facilities should be shot! How do they expect 15 apartments to share 2 washers and 2 dryers? Poor planning on their part. As far as your friendly neighbor being considerate when using the laundry facility....FORGET IT!

I think that these are pretty ligitimate complaints and I hope that the management of Eagle Ridge Apartments actually takes the time to read these comments. I think it is important to know what your residents have to say. I also believe that the reason for such turn-over here is because no one does listen.

This is my third year here and let me tell you I looked at tons of places in Waukegan and this was the cheapest and nicest. My only quams are that I wish we could paint the walls. The appliance are new, they paint yearly if you'd like and the staff are great. I've never had a problem with the staff or with getting anything fixed. They were late in painting and I went a couple days with my furniture piled in the middle but they were apologitic and took care of it right away. Friends visit often and love my place.

I was reading the other reveiws and I was thinking are they living in the samem place I am? I do have to agree that the construction materials for this place are have a lot to be desired. At the same time if you want the premium in this day and age you have to pay for it. The apartments look very nice on the outside and are well kept up. Inside the apartment I rented was very clean and they even gave me a welcome note, mug and some key chains. Mind you I've lived in apartments most of my life so when I saw that when I first moved in I was very impressed. The pool is very nice and the people mostly know each other and all seem friendly. I also read about the bad snow plowing. Well I've never met a place that was perfect ever plowing snow. I would say I would highly recommend this place.

                                          Good and Bad

After living there for 3 years, there are many good and bad things I could say about the Eagle Ridge Apartments. Good: The staff was friendly and the rent was reasonable. The floor lay out was ok. Before moving out I made sure the apartment was clean and received a full refund form by deposit. Just before moving out we noticed that they are planting more trees. Bad: The police are there often and fire trucks were common visitors. It is true that the walls are thin but they are not paper thin. There were many nights of no sleep. The people living there are not very polite but that would explain the cheap rent. Often times we would walk to other buildings to do laundry because the machines in our building did not work. When it snows they pile up the snow against cars. During the spring cars were flooded because the drains were not kept clear. The only time they offered us a discount on out rent is when we gave them the notice to vacate. The parking lot was generally full.

                                            ONE WORD- NO!

Do not move here, you will regret it to no end. If you like bad staff service, if you like plowing your own car out and slipping on icy sidewalks in the winter, if you like kids EVERYWHERE, riding their bikes in the parking lot sratching up your car, then this is the place for you. This place has paper thin walls. Kids are loud and you can hear them laugh, cry, whine, run through the halls. I think the staff just rents to ANYBODY. This place is really ------.
There is one good thing, the appliances are new and work fine.

Been here 3 years and dont recommend it

I agree with most everyone's previous posts. The construction quality is very poor. The paint used on the walls is the worst I have ever seen, touching it with anything leaves marks, and I mean anything! The appliances are terrible, the dishwasher is useless, no matter how much you pre rinse, the dishes still come out covered in gunk. The over is useless for anything other than frozen pizzas, dont even think about baking anything unless you like burnt on the outside and still raw in the middle. The carpet is loose everywhere. We litterly have holes in the flor that they just carpeted over, we have told maintanence about this but they dont care. We dont let people in high heels walk in our apartment becuase they might punch through a hole. Parking is terrible, they have easily oversold there parking capacity. And the parking rules are only enforced randomly. Many commercial vehicles in the lot, which is against the rules, but they threatened to tow a vehicle of mine if I didnt move it every few days. And the snow removal! Wow, non existent, but they do have a nice shiny red truck with a snow plow on it that they like to keep on display by the office. I dont know why they have handicap parking, a wheelchair bound person couldnt use it in the winter becuase nothing gets plowed. I had to dig my car out 3 times this past winter. The sidewalks are dangerous, always covered in ice. The washer and dryers dont work well, rarely does one $1 cycle on the dryer dry everything. All in all, there are many better places around for a similar price, I only stayed here this long becuase of closeness to my job. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone, in fact i have told a few people already to stay away.

I lived there for over a year. I moved into their "bluejay" which is suppose to be their top of the line. To be honest it is a fairly big apartment. The water system for the showers is very weak. I had two roof leaks that they took over a month to fix and by the way it was a new apt. I was the first one to live in that unit. Luckly it only rained once during that period.
The materials are way too cheap. Hallways are loud & noisy. The snowplowing is horrible. Safety is a major concern in the lots. Seems no one there is concerned with people speeding and passing thru the stop signs. One day a kid is going to get hurt and maybe then they´ll listen? Then again maybe not!! Managment seem to be the sweetest people you would ever meet AT FIRST, once they get you in they tend to forget the tenants needs and concerns. I would not recommen these apts to anyone.

                                                  Be careful!

Just let me tell you to be very careful. The staff smiles in your face and can´t wait to stick it to you. They kept my entire security deposit and said that I damaged the carpet, which was not true. The carpet pulls up when you vaccuum it and good luck getting maint. to come tact it back down. I even made people take their shoes off at the door. When I asked to see the damange I was not allowed to. The manager claimed she never saw the damage, only the head of maint. deals with that. Come on! They knew that these buildings were put together cheaply and they have to find money for repairs somewhere. The carpet gets big bubbles in it from normal everyday use. So make sure you do a walk through before you leave your keys, smiles don´t mean anything! I also had to call maint. 3 times to fix my toilet seal. The maint. dept. does as little as possible. And in the winter good look walking on the sidewalks, because nobody salts or plows. I fell twice while I was pregnant and called to report the conditions and they did nothing. I ran like heck when my lease was up. I had to go out of town before the furiture place could come to pick up the furniture my company rented for me, so I left my keys with the office to allow them to have full access to the apartment ASAP. When I returned a day after the furniture was removed they didn´t allow me a walk through of my apartment. So I would tell you if you have any other option move there. Eagle Ridge is ------ and shady!
