Well worth your dollar
This is my second year at Eagle Ridge and I must say it is worth every dollar. The staff are very nice and the apartments are very modern. I have visited several apartmens in the Waukegan area and this one is the best. The area is kept up and the neighbors are very friendly. It can get a bit noisy because the construction of the apartments looks nice but isn´t very soundproof.
The porch is also very big and so are the closets. There is also ample space!

The Worst Apartment at it´s price range
I´ve lived in dozens of apartments and by far this is the worst. Cheap and ugly carpets, wall paints, blinds, cabinets falling apart/too small and may I add the cheapest bathroom I´ve ever seen.....

I left after 6 months and is very happy with my new apartment.

Good Apartments
I agree with some of the things the other reviewers are saying, but most of it is not a big deal to me. Overall, I am very happy with the apartment. The place is new and clean, and my neighbors are very nice. I don´t have much trouble parking unless I come home after midnight, but even then I only have to walk about half a building´s length. I have plenty of space of the price I pay. Yes, I hear doors slam, but big deal. You don´t notice it after a while. It´s not the kind of thing that is going to wake you up. I can hear a faint murmur of voices from the neighbor sometimes, but that´s only if my apartment is in complete silence, which it never is. The staff is very nice. I haven´t had any problems with the washer/dryers. I think I´m the only one in the building that uses them, so they´re always open, but they are a little expensive. I guess it´s just worth the convenience for me. The balconies are very nice, and it´s great to have the pool available. The workout room is pretty crappy though, so don´t count on that. Yes, the carpet is cheap. It does not resist stains at all. That´s my only major complaint. I am a single woman and I feel very safe there. I have had no problems. If you are worried about your car, you can rent a garage.

One more thing is that I have saved a lot of money on heating and air conditioning. I don´t know what it is, but I hardly ever have to turn it on and I am normally a very cold person. I am on the third floor though.

Not a good place to live.
This apartment complex cost to much for what you get. The materials the are made of are not good you can hear every thing that goes on in the hallways and the stairways from inside your apartment. The carpet is not of good quality. The doors are hallow steal doors if not closed gently it echos louldly. Other tenants do not respect one another they only care about them selves. The parking lot is not enough for the newest phase and it is to close people always are bumping into other peoples cars with their doors or things they are taking out of it. The maintince department does not care how the buildings are kept up. The hallways look like crap kids ave drawn all down them and people hit them and leave marks all over them. The carpet is all stained and looks like it never gets cleaned. Even some hallways smell like cat urine. This is in the newest buildings that have not been open very long. The older ones only get worse. If you put in for a request for any of this it only gets to the top people and they blow it off. If you move in here you better start saving for when you move out or you will having to fork out money that you probally normally do not have to put out. The person that inspects these apartments does not care he will even charge you for what was wrong with the apartment before you moved in. Even if it was written down on the move in inspection form. So start saving to either pay or to hire a lawyer to defend you in court. The worst thing is he will not even allow anyone to go with him to do the move out inspection. If you call him to ask why you are getting charged he will only run over you when you try to say something. This person thinks he is never wrong and just to screw people out of their money. The person that is in charge of these apartments allows it to go on and she only thinks about herself and does not care about the residents that live here. In each building there is 2 washers that do not work good at all that is when they are even working. Also 2 dryers that do not work good. You have to pay $1.00 for each one each time and get hardly what you pay for. The dryers do not dry your landry all the way. The swimming pool is supposly heated from what is says in newspaper ads and the only heat it gets is from the sun and your body heat when you are in it. The SPEED LIMIT IS NOT INFORCED one day someone is going to be killed or ran over. That is if it has not already happened yet. They call this apartment living Luxuary apartments I call this way below Luxuary apartment living.

Not spacious enough for the rent paid. Cheap carpet and materials used in the apartments.

Maintenance not kept up. Entrances, hallways, sidewalks always dirty.

With all the money the apt. complex takes in, it should have a company on ready to clear sidewalks and streets when weather makes them dangerous. I would think the apt. complex would be liable for personal accidents related to snow and ice.

Speed limit should be enforces. Too many children outside playing. I recently witnessed an accident due to driver going too fast. Exceeding the speed limit should not be allowed.

Management does not seem to want to help renters in any way. It is ridiculous for them to charge $25.00 to open a door should the renter lose or misplace his or her key.

Definitely would not recommend Eagle Ridge Apts. at Waukegan, IL!

Do NOT chose this place to live
Your first impression of this apartment is very nice. I know that was my first impression because it looks so nice and new. But this is very deceiving!!!! Don´t let that fool you! The walls are so thin or else not insulated that you can hear your neighbors every conversation. And people have no respect for one another because every time you open the door in the hallway they slam shut. Not just sometimes...but ALL the time. That is the entrance doors into the hallways and individual apartment doors. I don´t know what they are made out of, but they are not noise proof whatsoever. And the hallways always stink. I understand that kids are going to be kids, but people just don´t care around there because they let their kids run wild and make all kinds of noise. I have had to complain and I know other people have too. And if you care about your vehicle, you better be careful leaving it in the parking lot because people always slam their doors on one anothers cars. I have had it happen before. That is if you can find a parking spot! If you come home late at night, don´t even think about parking close to your apartment building. People are constantly speeding through the parking lots. The speed limit is NOT enforced. So if you have young kids, be careful. And there are not enough washers and dryers for everyone. There´s only two washers and dryers per apartment building. And the dryers NEVER work!!! Even complaining to the staff will not do anything. Trust me. And it´s expensive to do your laundry there anyways. For some reason the walls get big black marks all over them from simply just brushing by them. For the amount of money I pay monthly, this apartment is NOT worth it. Trust me. Everything inside the apartment is cheap too. This building may look nice but it was very cheaply built. I would chose else where if I were you.

Don´t do it
These apartments have several things wrong with them. There are two washers and two dryers per building. Most people here don´t care if they leave their laundry in the machines hours after they are done, making it harder for you to get your laundry done. The doors that lead into the hallways on each floor and each door to each unit are hollow steel doors. If they aren´t closed gently, they make a lot of noise. Most people that live here do not respect others so door slamming is very frequent. The small kids here run up and down hallways, yelling and screaming, and sometimes pulling the fire alarms. Obviously they don´t have parents who care about their children´s behavior. The fire department has to be sick and tired of coming to this complex on so many false alarms. Every time you barelay touch a wall, it scuffs up and leaves marks. Overall, I´d say, this would be a place to avoid, but this is Waukegan, IL, it doesn´t get much better than this...unfortunately.
